For some reason, Photorec seems to only recover 'jpg' but not 'JPG' (my sony camera generates the upper-case version). Any hints on working around that?
hello man , thanks of the video. i did something very stupid. i reinstalled ubuntu but i had forgotten to backup my bookmarks from firefox and chromium. is there a way to recover specific files. like for example, the bookmarks were stored as .json files in chromium. so is there a way to tell the program, recover only these types of files? please help me, i dont know what to do :-(
I used this tool a few days ago to recover some files form a phone, it works great, the only issue I had is when saving the recovery files puts in the home folder with restrictions when trying to delete them from the pc, I had to login as root.
Hallo, first of all thanks for tutorial which i am trying out now. But still i have some questions. I deleted saved game file (GTA san andreas to be exact), so i know both format of file (which is .b) and directory where it was deleted from, knowing that can i shorten the recovery search somehow since it takes very long time while trying to recover files in whole partition.
OK everything is great, but how do I recover files from 1TB HDD?
I only deleted one 600mb folder
and doesn't need rest of 400GB garbage
especially when my second disk is only 180GB and have 1GB space left

Very nice tutorials!
2 Questions tho...
1. Whats that awesome icon theme?
2. Whats the wallpaper?
Linux1man 2 years ago
It was only copying files at 3.3MB/s? Damn, that's slow.
uni4dfx 2 years ago
Well when you mess up and delete something important enough to try and recover it you shouldn't mind that ;)
amzertech 2 years ago
Sure, but it just makes me sad a little that usb transfer speeds in linux always seem to be very low.
