@adamo41188 it isn't the drivers fault, it's the CDV. If you've ever driven an S2000-especially an AP2-then you'd realize that no matter how well you are able to drive, the CDV will make it seem like you're botching the shift. Honda installed it to prevent the clutch/differential from premature wear and breaking.
Actually it's bad for the clutch on these cars. The AP2 S2000's have a CDV (Clutch Delay Valve) which slips the clutch instead of sending the stress to the differential. If you shift too fast the CDV will slip the clutch.
The S2000 is not made for hard straight line driving; the driver in this video just needs to make nice positive shifts and ease the clutch out rather than dumping it and it'll all be good then. *thumbs up*
yeah cdv is the pussiest thing about s2000.he should just hear the motor and shift as the rpms drop to where the rpms would be in the next hear and then he doesnt havemto ease the clutch out.easing out the clutch when shifting is why people have to replace them every 20k miles.just learn to do perfect shifts.
@esean931: Actually the CDV is a nice add-in by Honda to save the differential. You can listen all you want but you won't always match it perfectly so either the clutch slips just a tad matching speeds or the drivetrain takes a beating; your choice. I'd rather replace a several hundred dollar clutch rather than a differential for over a thousand dollars.
