looks like a lovely relationship between horse and rider. I am no expert but all the power seems to be at the front end at the moment. With maturity and sensible training, presumably the muscles develop and you get something more like a "dinner plate" pirouette? Lovely video though - I certainly couldn't train a horse to this level
my horse started doing that on a trail to catch up to come horses and they were turning around going LOOK HOW PRETTY! SHES DOING A SPANISH WALK! and i was like A WHAT?!
The cowboy has deep historic roots tracing back to Spain and the earliest settlers of the Americas. The origins of the cowboy tradition come from Spain, beginning with the hacienda system of medieval Spain.
My horse can do it aswell, I though spanish walk like.. um.. will try to explain ;p you walk in front of your horse and you give him a little tap on his knee with a small whip, NOT HARD! just a tap to get his attention. then he starts to like dig with his leg. then you pull him forward and tap in combination. then he wants to dig but cant cause he has to move forwards. and then you reward him ofcourse with candies ;p
Beautiful horse, just wonder what someone would want to do those advanced movements on a mere 5yo - especially the canter pirouttes. I would be worried about how long this horse would remain sound having had immature bones worked too hard at too young an age. I have spanish horses (PREs) and they mature later than other breeds so I do know what I am talking about - not jealousy either - mine do spanish walk too - must admit this chap is very good in the spanish walk though
A little extra stress can be good on growing bones; it forces them to grow stronger and more compact. I don't think this guy is pushing this stallion too hard, he certainly looks like he knows what he's doing and knows when to stop.
This is beautiful, amazing work for anyone. How does one learn but by practicing? Don't bash people for things that you yourself know you can't do. :P Jealousy is an ugly thing. ;)
Beautiful! The time and energy invested is evident in every move. ^^
A reminder to the recent viewers who haven't read the story: This is a 55 year old postman, an amateur self-taught rider who loves his horses. He will never compete. He is not trying to impress anyone. He enjoys the art and his beautiful horse.
The canter pirouettes are terrible but some other stuff was fairly decent. This horse lacks rhythm though. It needs some more basic training before it does so much advanced movements...
I agree that the rider seems poor to me, however i have a feeling this is one of the few people who can look badly yet the horse still goes well, unlike the rest of us!
To me, he seems top heavy, does not sit and take weight in the saddle, and rein aids are given abruptly, exaggerated, and rough.
That said.... the horse is going very correctly as far as I can see, so I can't say too much. :)
Hola soy de Tarragona. Me gustaria informarme sobre la venta de algun caballo Español. Nos interesa que sea sociable con otros caballos ya que disponemos de un cartujano. Es para una niña de 15 años que esta haciendo alta escuela. Gracias
Not only do you have a beautiful horse, but he seems to have a very calm, sweet disposition. I think I am in love. He is simply gorgeous, and I was impressed with how 'in tune' he seemed with you. You have done an excellent job with him. Congratulations.
