Just for a reminder.... Socotra was given to Yemen by the British Authorities after their conquest from the Omanis. The Omanis have conquered it in the late XVIII century from the Somali sultanate of Maakhir. The Sovereignity of Yemen has never been recognised as legitimate in the region, particularly by the late Somali Regime of Syad Barre. The yemenis started fully colonising the Island after 1991 with the collapse of the Somali state. No Somali is allowed in the Island by Yemeni authorities.
