  • believe it or not.. i actually did this very same thing last night while turning a corner in my r33 skyline gtst. Ended up taking out a "keep left" sign back quarter panel is fucked, until it happens to you i don't see anyone comprehending how annoying it is when you lose all steering :/

  • @jadrum31 I know how it feels, hydroplaned through an intersection and T boned a durango.... In my defense I honked for a good 5 secs.... He could have payed attention lol but I was kind of funny because I had enough time to say to myself. Well lets see if I can play frogger with my F250.

In this guys defense you never let off the pedal in a mid engine vehicle especially one as light as the lotus, due to the mechanics of front to rear weight ratio, and what this does to tire grip.

  • You just gotta feel bad when you hear the crunch.

  • poor guy :/

  • The reason its wrong is that the differential won't apply retarting force evenly.

He should use brakes to regrain traction.

  • orgasm much ? xD

  • That was brutal.

  • ooooooo......he was too harsh on the throttle let off while still in gear. Big no no when it's wet and going fast.

  • Its called hydro plane

  • haha

  • If only he had AWD with Torque Vectoring like the Nissan Juke ;)

  • no worry Sparco has got u covered

  • Erggggh Ahhhhh

  • you have to drive that fast in the wet, to stop the water coming in through the roof......

  • DAMN THAT WAS FAST! :0

  • similar thing happened to me when i was driving my mx5 (after 2 days of ownership) never knew it was so tail happy in the rain ,i hit a cyclist ,but he was okey ....i had the scare of my life when i lost control and the car span twice before hitting ths cyclist :///

  • Just before he aqua planned you can hear him lift off the throttle, the result was the rear wheels slowed down and lost traction causing the spin

  • He had no chance wow

  • I expected him to say "Not again!" After his first "Errrrghhhh"...

  • @McJanglez ROFl dude , his cars fucked ok ?

  • The incident's nut funny, but when I turned on my speakers and heard the "eerrghh ..ERRRGHHH!", IT"S HILARIOUS!!!

  • at least he didnt wreck the car. did he hit the wall?

  • he had no chance of getting that back! quick reactions tho..

  • aqua plane? i thought it was hydroplane

  • @yahbud hydro/aqua basicly the same just fancyer ways of plaining over water

  • That's why I never drive fast in the rain. If this wasn't a race, you shouldn't have done it either unless you were just trying to get better at driving with rain. Aquaplanning is something you can't control...

  • cadwell park

  • oh ... thanks for sharing the video my friend :) i have my first car now and now i know that its realy important to drive as slow as possible with rain.... i didnt know that its possible to loose controll so easy on a straight road

tanks and sorry for bad english!

  • Very nice reaction time on the steering wheel... too bad the wheels lost all traction..

  • @porscheland

Τraining and experience makes a good driver. Upoader is not the driver. Read the comments asshole. Ah! and before you go and ride your hearse try to learn something from this.

  • man that wall came out of nowhere

  • YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY!!!!! I"M GONNA GO GIT SOME WARM MILK.

  • Speed when planing? Tyre model?

  • No damaga at all.... READY TO RACE

  • shit

  • To all the people who are correcting what he has done, regardless of whether you are correct or not, the car spun so quickly and with so little warning that there's practically nothing you could do. People like Senna could avoid it but people like him would probably feel it coming before even the most seasoned drivers.

  • thats why u dont drive a car that weights nothing on a wet track, especialy when this car has semi-slick tires..

  • haha aquaplaning

    hyrdoplaning i love english people

  • @allah211 ur a spaz it is our language

  • @allah211 If we spoke American you would be correct. Don't try to own what you didn't create.

  • @jcadlols jesus people need to calm the hell down on youtube

  • Lift throtle to hard, got braking-moment on the Rearwheels.......thats what it looks like to me.

And catching an Elise on sliding, neraly no way....

  • must been to much hydrofina on the track

  • Maybe he was braking? Looks like it...

    ps: Errghh!!

  • Luckiest guy ever

  • Sounds like he lifted off the throttle as he was entering the puddle. Short wheelbase car with weight behind driver. It's gonna swap end.

  • I'm really surprised he only hit the wall once.

  • Translation:

    1. Eaaaarghhh!!! (OH F#%$)

    2. Errah. (Ah crap)

  • errrrrraaaaarggg, errahh.

  • The car rides on the water and when you back off the throttle there is not enough grip for the road going past to turn the wheels and overcome the compression in the engine. The engine just falls to idle and the rear wheels are now turning much slower than the fronts, similar to pulling the hand brake.

  • someone should have used his wet tires! ;)

wouldn't make much difference in that rain anyway.

  • Why would you go that fast in pouring rain.... you're not Senna in an F1 car! Keep it under 60.

  • @TheArfdog never been on a track day then? the whole point is to drive fast.....

  • @AdamWebb1982 Driving fast is fun. Driving fast in the pouring rain with half-inch of water on the road? that's stupid. And because you can't tell the difference, you're stupid too.

  • @TheArfdog its a TRACK day... this is what you do on a trackday...

  • @AdamWebb1982 "this is what you do on a track day"... Wreck cars? lol.

  • balls..

  • I'm also not sure this is aquaplanning because the rear got out of line.

Normally the front should slide away and not the back. I call this loosing control.

  • Beim dem Wetter würde ich mich gerade mal trauen, mit meiner Elise im Hof zu drehen!!!

    Also sorry für crash

  • i'd love to see that spin in 3rd person

  • Why in hell are you racing on a rain soaked track??!!!

  • thats the downside of a car weighing 10 pounds haha

  • Seeing how he reacted it wasn't his first time and the guy has skill.... The only question now is why is this idiot running track that day without wet tires ? :)

  • One of the scariest feelings in the world - I spun my car on the freeway. Luckily I gained control and didn't crash, but it's amazing how fast sh*t happens.

  • @jinx1812

I've done the same thing on the autobahn, aquaplane.. 90 mph, full lock, hand brake and some luck, i managed a 720 and no contact..

that shit is scary, adrenaline off the scale..

  • @ernstproject i did a 720 in bmwx5 no contact, just nearly ripped off the e-brake, first thing i could grab

  • nothing to do with a trailing throttle in this instance i wouldnt mind betting there was some oil or diesel on the track for the car to snap that violently. To be fair to the driver there was not much he could except give himself more room on the corner entry.

  • I guess it's basically trailing throttle oversteer, which get's worse in the rain, not plain aquaplaning. Bad luck anyway, hope you were not hurt!

  • I feel yer frustration on that one my friend :(

  • Trailing throttle in te rain...!!...but this happens to all of us some time. The most understandable but wrong reaction. Happened to me also, but I was lucky. Hope u did not get hurt!

  • Rear engine means more weight on rear than on front. When grip = 0 on 4 wheels, rear comes to the front. That's physics. I did exactly the same mistake with the same car. I learned I wasn't a pilot yet... Not too much damage I hope ?

  • Well at least he has the balls to drive his expensive car in the rain. Props

  • hes a good driver

you heard him let off the gas when the first signs of hydroplaning started, nothing really he could do

  • sure there was... he could simply just NOT drive on the rain lol!

  • lol true

  • lifiting off is the last thing you want to do if the car is aquaplaning,

he should have held a balance throttle and slowed the car with the brakes, failing that dipping the clutch wouldn't have been too bad, leaving the engine on overrun requires grip from the rear wheels grip which he didnt have, hence the oversteer developing

  • idk i think that if he lifted off it would give the rear some traction so that it would stop fishtailing and not try and overtake the front of the car

  • @McMatt373 Lifting in this scenario would have made it worse because the weight would have come off of the rear tires.

  • @McMatt373

I'm not sure, that came from nowhere.

  • @Boardy1846 I agree haha i was just saying in a less immediate hydroplane I feel like that's what would work, nothing this guy could do though

  • @Boardy1846 in my opinion he pressed the brakes

  • nice! this shows because people say he didnt keep his cool but did you see How fast that car Spinned out ! hell you need to have superman reflexes !

  • :`( I feel your pain, person in video

  • lotus elises crash a lot

  • No - the drivers crash a lot :)

  • el circuito es nurburgrin nose si se escribe aasi jejeje

  • Nice video to observe how people block their muscles. At 0:20 he turned to the right and locked it until the car stoped. I imagine he locked the brakes too. Not a cold driver, I hope learned something from watching this.

  • It's simple! if raining and in rwd car deffo don't do your track day!! end ov

  • he kept it together pretty well when he lost it. I would have had a lot more to say than AHHH if that was me lol.

  • wow i didn't realise how quickly a car can lose control when you aqua plane

  • ARE U kidding???

omg thanks youtube one more guy is clever!.. and little bit safety in roadtreffic at rain omg!!

  • @Memphis35 When you let off the gas and don't have good traction, the rear of the car wants to keep moving. It kind of goes against logic but letting off of the gas at the wrong time (or too aggressively) can cause a spin out on wet or dry.

  • @fiveodude That's right...

  • @Memphis35

but i think this speed isn't normal

    i think he drives about 120-140 km/h ^^

    i would't drive so fast

  • @Memphis35 It's a lot easier for a car to lose control at higher speeds.

  • @Memphis35 yea man it gets pertty bad but rwd cars have it the worst

  • @Memphis35 well, look how light it is.

  • @Memphis35 Yea it happened in an instant O__O

  • Errghhh!

    ....Errrgghhh.

  • Made my day :D

  • he got lucky

    thats minor damage

  • Hmmm light car, slick track, water, speed.

  • i didnt even see a wheel twitch to cause it to hydroplain! and it didnt look like the road was tilted at al!

  • ...and that is how quickly it can all go wrong!

  • I have a exige, and based on the blurry spedo, I think he was going 100mph. I can go 60mph with no fear of hydroplaning. I dont go any faster in the rain.

  • Happens so quickly!

  • This is cadwell park in Lincolnshire. I've crashed here a few times on my motorbike in the wet. It's not a good track in the wet!!

  • ese coche hay que saber llevarlo

  • it sounds like you let go of the throttle before you started aquaplanning.

  • Yes, but I think he felt the start of aquaplanning a bit before, and this is why he releases the throttle (yes, not the best, but it's a instantly reaction).

  • most run road legal semi slicks on the elises and exiges especially so that's always a danger, unlucky

  • it was going so well....little twitch and it was allover.

hope the car was ok, could have been a lot worse...

  • Whoa , scary stuff !

What were your tyres like, looks like a lack of tread depth perhaps ?

Lucky you were on the straight.
