  • How do you compare a hotplate vs Aracom DAG attenuator?? IM thinking of getting your Limit edition block end JTM 45/100 and want to have the best of these two attenuators. I already own a Mesa Boogie Mark 5, and it will be nice to have the best of mesa and marshall in my setup. Now thats versitility. I could use the attenuator with the mark five aswell on the 90watt power setting. My horrid JVM i had kept dying while using a hotplate, i hardly used it. Love your thoughts on the matter. Rock on

  • NICE! =)

  • What was the volume on this? What's the general ball park the 45/100 breaks up, and how does it compare to the normal JTM45?

    Great tone as usual, btw.

  • Hi George,

What speakers are in the cab? Will the 45/100 work better with ceramic or alnico speakers?

Will it be advisable to use 2x100W speakers? I don't really want to lug 4x12s around.

E.g 100W blue dog and 100W silver bell in a 2x12 closed back cab. How'd this go with the 45/100?

  • If those Webers truly handle 100 watts each, I think you could use them in a 2-12 with this head.

  • Thanks for the quick reply George.

What speakers were in the cab you're using?

I'm not sure if I should go towards alnicos or ceramics.

  • They are definitely ceramics. If I remember correctly it was my '75 straight cab with G12M black backs.

  • Thanks George,

Great sounding amps. Keep up the excellent work.

  • Nice vintage tones, George. Do you have any clips yet of the 100 watt master vol. version yet? I have a real one from 76 or so but it's modded to obscurity. Irretrievable. So after I get the JTM45 kit that'll be next. Rock on!

  • None yet. Still finishing the instructions and stocking parts etc. I'll have some up after we return from the NY amp show. george

  • It would be nice to hear the 10000 series too. I need a something to do during my 4 weeks of vacation this summer ;) Building an amp seems like a perfect thing to do. For me it´s gonna be the 45/100 or the 10000 series.

  • what is the volume on the amp??

  • It's loud, but not as loud as later 100 watt amps. More comparable to a 50W amp volume-wise. Loud enough to need an attenuator in most situations.

  • thanks, see you at the NY amp show!

  • George, I thought you said you couldn't play Hendrix?

  • Thanks, but I wouldn't say I nailed any Hendrix. Maybe hit a few chords right.

  • Thats a Classic 60's Stratocaster right?

  • I wish, but no. It's a Nash Strat copy.

  • ~Great sound...whats a Nash strat...this strat sounds very cool....~~

  • Bill Nash is the builder's name.

  • Hey George, how is it going? I bought a PTP board from you a couple years ago. Sounds great.

I custom ordered a Nash strat about 6 months ago. It was terribly built, I returned it. You must have an early one. He is hurrying them. good thing you aren't hurrying your stuff. That is why it sounds great.

  • Man, sorry to hear this, I was still hoping to get a Nash Tele at some point.

I'm still putting about 20 hours into each amp. There's just no corners that I'm willing to cut.

  • Jimmy hendrix 0:00?

  • Sounds nice George, I put together a jcm800 from your kit and it sounds great. Added extra tube and jose' master. BTW, GO WINGS!!!

  • Very nice George! :)

  • That nails the hendrix tone!
