As in this case the car is parked on private property, you should have put a sign up that anyone parking there illigally will be clamped and has to pay £1000 to get it unclamped. Then clamp the council's car when they arrived. Would have payed for getting the own car back. ;-)

Hi everyone, i spoke to the police yesterday about prosecuting the woman for driving off without putting her seat belt on and at first they claimed they couldn't find the paperwork from my previous call and after telling them that this wasn't good enough they miraculously found it then told me it's up to them who they prosecute and they won't be making a prosecution in this case, followed by a "thank you for your call" and then put the phone down on me.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your comments. A few people have pointed out that "it" didn't put a seat belt on when she drove away, i have phoned the local police and demanded she is charged for driving without a seat belt, i have told them i have the video evidence. They told me they will investigate it, gave me a crime number and said they will contact me within 2 days. Fingers crossed she will be charged for the offense. I will let you know what happens via the comments here.

The same thing happened to me once where I parked in an empty carpark it was very early morning, and didn't notice that one of my tyres was slighty over the white line, when I came back to the carpark which was still not busy I noticed that I'd been given a ticket, after I spoke to carpark guy and told him he was being a fffing jobsworth doing this seeing the carpark was empty, he threatened me with getting the police, my fine if I can remember was £12, why the hell was this man charged £70?

Get the bailiff wheelclampers license registration number (they are obliged to provide this, in fact it's a requirement to display) and check it against the SIA database. If not registered then report the vehicle as stolen... the police have a duty to investigate and retrieve since they witnessed the actual theft (aided and abetted) or get a crime reference number to claim on the drivers insurance =:-)

Parking spaces are often ludicrously narrow. How many times do you have to take special care when opening your car door not to touch the car next to it. This was a wide saloon so it was probably an easy mistake to make. If car parks are monitored then a warning would have been more than adequate for such a minor transgression.
