(of course you haven't) He was studding for 4 years in Trnava (1810-1813), what was center of Slovakian scholastic merchandise (Slovenské učené tovarišstvo) and you think he didn't speak slovak! One from his teachers was Anton Vojtech Brestenský - slovakian - and Jedlik was still in contact with him after his studding in Trnava. And Hungary was born only in 1918.

Read about history of Hungary and history of Austria in English Britannica encyclopedia or in german Brockhaus Encyclopedias.
