I just checked Estonian votes: 2002 max points went to Latvia, Sweden got 8 points, 2006 max points to Finland, 2005 max points to Switzerland 8 and 10 points went to Norway and Latvia.From what I can see East countries never got in the top 3 of Estonia except in 2008 - maybe it was just a good song. If you want to accuse them for nepotism get the facts straights and blaim them for voting on their Scandinavian neighbours instead of the East block theory.
But Greece too has always got far in the competition because they get neighbour votes from Turkey & the Balkans, they also get the immigrant votes from the Turkish and Greek communities in West Europe, The Scandinavians always vote for each other as well, the Nordic countries just swap points between them. And furthermore Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are Nordic countries not East countries, and in fact they have never given max points to an Est country but always their Scandinavian neighbours.
PS. It's only fair that people are sad about their countries losing, but get a grip! Don't go blaming winners just because your song sucked donkey balls that year. :]

Obviously there is political voting, reason why 50:50 was introduced. However it's not only Eastern Europe doing so, Scandinavia, Iberia etc. also do it. However, because there are so many (small - relatively), they have many, many more votes to give, which mean more points. But I must say, that Russia didn't have the best song in 2008 - many people agree to that I can say.

But their not the only country to get votes from neighbors alomost every country has. Russia just has connections with more countries and so it was more obvious.
The only solution is a judging panel but it won't happen cause there is a whole load of money in the voting lines.
Well-made video. I agree that since there's a binding relation between the ex-soviet countries, some people may vote according to that. Ok, the topic is very controversial, but let's just say that the countries have a bond. This means that some people will not judge the songs but will vote a country, not an act. But what can we do about it? The only solution is changing the system from open voting to professional judges, and I'm sure that there are a lot of people who would hate that.

But Greece too has always got far in the competition because they get neighbour votes from Turkey & the Balkans, they also get the immigrant votes from the Turkish and Greek communities in West Europe, The Scandinavians always vote for each other as well, the Nordic countries just swap points between them. And furthermore Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are Nordic countries not East countries, and in fact they have never given max points to an Est country but always their Scandinavian neighbours.

Obviously there is political voting, reason why 50:50 was introduced. However it's not only Eastern Europe doing so, Scandinavia, Iberia etc. also do it. However, because there are so many (small - relatively), they have many, many more votes to give, which mean more points. Western countries however, also vote for the eastern ones (but also immigrants from the east, like Turkey/Armenia). But I must say, that Russia didn't have the best song in 2008 - many people agree to that I can say.

it's not still chosen... the most provable is "Melody - Amante de la luna" a very spanish (flamenco-latin) song ... but the chosen is open still and the most favorites are too: "Soraya - La Noche es para mi" or "mirela - nada es comparable a ti" look at them and say me wich you like more... :P

Before televoting they had the one day final with the juries. They mainly voted on Francophone and Anglophone entries.

we should all remember it's not 8,10 and 12 pts that makes country successful.If that is so Russia wouldn't win with pts from just ex Soviet Union.Serbia wouldn't win with only ex YU pts (I am taking example, Serbia won with 268 pts and from ex YU they got 60 pts.where are all this 200 pts come from ?)
So as I say every pts is meter,and best example of it is Norway this year in Belgrade.They didn't get many high pts(except from Nordic) but they got pts from all over Europe and be on 5th place.

Your completely right! Russia did win by neighbor voting.
But their not the only country to get votes from neighbors alomost every country has. Russia just has connections with more countries and so it was more obvious.
The only solution is a judging panel but it won't happen cause there is a whole load of money in the voting lines.

Well-made video. I agree that since there's a binding relation between the ex-soviet countries, some people may vote according to that. Ok, the topic is very controversial, but let's just say that the countries have a bond. This means that some people will not judge the songs but will vote a country, not an act. But what can we do about it? The only solution is changing the system from open voting to professional judges, and I'm sure that there are a lot of people who would hate that.
