@EagleHANtsi I think you have missed the point of this car completely. This car is meant for the driver who wants a lightweight no frills track oriented sports car. Now for your needs Porsche offer's the Cayman or Cayman S or the 911 or 911 S and you could load those car's up to the gills with leather this, navigation touch screen, heated seats whatever you require, sky is the limit with the options from Porsche.

@nls8520 Good point. But i rather all the options and still be able to take it to the track. Nissan GTR for example. I've seen Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches going to extreme measures in an effort to save weight. Straps for interior door handles, no A/C deleted radio and so on. Nissan GTR and the bugatti veyron are fully loaded. But hey,, I guess it's what some customers prefer. different strokes for different folks, I guess

@EagleHANtsi I think it depends on first what your needs are. If you want a sports car that has luxury and does everything well there are plents of choices. Like you said Nissan GTR, A Nissan GTR is a large and heavy car, although brutally fast will not provide the driver with the same level of feel and ability to toss the car around as a mid engine car that weighs 2900lbs the Porsche Cayman R. Now I understand Nissan has a track pack for the GTR. So they are trying to reach those track rats.

@TheIMF007 From experience, NEVER buy a BMW for the cup holders. Haha. I think some of the SUVs have the real ones in the center console but all the cars I've been in had small ones that fold out of the dashboard. If you're a fan of taking giant cups or bottles with you, a BMW is not for you. But I totally agree with you.

@hawkblade7 This is the thing with Porsche, they try to stay close to the original design, improving it. In a documentary video they stated that through history, whenever they've changed something they would immediately return to the original design :) It's a legacy thing :)

If you're "That guy that just needs to have the ultimate Cayman" you might as well just shell out the extra money for the 911 rather than something that could be as good as the 911 but just isn't. I fail to see much of a point in this car, It isn't quite a track-day special as it is missing some of the features you would want in such a car like a roll cage and at least 4-point seat belts, yet you sacrifice all the personal comforts you would want to see in a daily driver. What's the point?

@mesarius well it is still quite a bit cheaper than the 911 and it has a better weight distribution because it is mid engined unlike the 911.

@mesarius If you buy a 911 that puts out the speed of a Cayman, you'll be doing it through lots of horsepower and not through the handling. The point of a lightened Cayman is to deliver a car that's as fast as a 911 Carrera S (I guess, who knows what 911 it really lines up with) but with the firm suspension and excellent balance of the Cayman platform. The Cayman R is just a sportier Cayman S. It's not a Cayman GT3, but that doesn't make it pointless. I'd prefer a Cayman S, though.
