  • @michiyoyoshiku That is very ignorant of you. If it is a fake disorder thwn why do you need to fit into a certain criteria to get diagnosed with it? Aspergers combines issues with non verbal communication, sensory processing, fine motor skills issues, Autistic traits, Obessive interest in one area of interest, and a lot of other symptoms. I feel bad if you ever have clients. As a psychologist you are suposed to be unbiased.

    I wasn't offended by it. I was just saying... I wouldn't have thought many people with aspergers, unless they're very severe would think a really sad face on a peace of card was a happy face or would they? I have Classic Autism & even though I find it hard to recognise what faces mean what in real life, read faceil experssions, etc; I would be able to know them from cards.

  • I have As and thought this was pretty funny. Honestly it's not accurate at all though, it is just exaggerating some of the symptoms that are commonly talked about. The characters movements and body language were spot on though. An Asperger person is not full blown retarded like the people portrayed in this video...:-p

  • I have asperger's syndrome and Im proud of this. It makes me the one thing I crave to have. It makes me different. The thing is, personality wise, I dont really let it affect me that much. People just think I'm shy or something, but everytime I tell someone I know that I have Asperger's (which is not very often) The always give me this reaction "....What?" Because they could never tell that I ever had it. -- OH CRAP IM TALKING ABOUT MYSELF!!! ITS THE ASPERGERS!!! p.s I really do have it No joke

  • I (now 19) have Asperger Syndrome, and I love this! It may be exaggerated a lot but I recognize lots of things. I wish high school teachers had more understanding of how hard it is to live through a normal day at school. I quit high school a year before I finished because I couldn't handle it socially. I think that there aren't more people with autism nowadays, It's just the world has become a lot more demanding on a persons social ability's. And especially high school.

  • I don't see why anyone on the spectrum should be offended by this, it's not a real trailer, it's a parody. It's not making fun of Asperger's as much as much the current media obsession with the disorder, and the freak-show-esque portrayal of it on TV which only takes a very limited and negative view of it and how it affects people for the sake of drama and ratings, I found it quite funny in that regard.

    Also, my ASD unit at high school was pretty much exactly like this anyway :D

  • As a person with Asperger's, I don't feel that this type of stereotyping of those affected by the Autistic spectrum is really that helpful. I realize that this was done to be humorous, but watching it reminded me that NTs still do not realize that there is not one profile for those with Asperger's. Most people don't realize that they probably know several people with the Syndrome that were never diagnosed and seemed normal.

Asperger syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted & repetitive patterns of behaviour & interests. WE ARE ALL SOMEWHERE ON THE AUTISTIC SPECTRUM. 'Aspie' is a stereotype. All the people on the autistic spectrum who have similar habits, interests, fears, & difficulties, ETC. will no doubt be diagnosed.

    I have autism. I have asperger's syndrome. & one of the things which really pisses me off is when people stereotype me. I'm patronized for having asperger's syndrome. People treat me like I'm stupid, immature, or being purposefully difficult. I don't believe in asperger's. I don't believe you can diagnose people with disorders simply because they think differently to you. Thinking differently to other people doesn't make you ill, challenged, or a freak, just normal.

  • Agree I wouldn't want to go to that school anyways because I feel that just because I have Aspergers I should be somewhere else and I love being at my high school. Yeah I still get teased and they put me in "basic biology and math" and people might say that I am a bit of a nerd but I am proud of having Aspergers and I have someone who I can talk to because her boyfriend has it to and it makes my life not as much depressing as it can.   • @mtallmen184 I think it's better to send someone with AS to a normal school so they can learn to blend in with people more easily. I have AS and I'm just as big an Aspie as I was when I was little but now I know how to slip below the radar in social situations if I need to, though it has taken a lifetime of trial & error and practice!

    Basically be yourself, be proud of who you are but there's no need to be segregated from "normal" people. That's the worst.
