First preds and outlaws are 4 strokes don't know where people think that a 2 stroke sounds and thing like a 4. Second its all about the rider my yfz runs with or can beat 4mil banshess and it only has one cam. My cousin has a pred even though its different then the outlaw, I have never come across a "fast" polaris. And please don't take this personal just my experience

I don't know about the one 4mil that I run with I can beat it all day long. But I do know that banshees have a ton of top gear so I know that any one could run from me in the top end.
@gbonesrider yea and banshee's are usually made for all drag racing so its not really fare to race a yfz that are usually for woods against a banshee in a drag because thats where the banshee is suppose to be,like if u and ur dad did a gncc style race ud must likely kill hi m unless his one bad ass rider haha

Fat kid with big bore kit is = to a skinny kid on a stock bore....then it just depends on the rider.....plus then u gotta think about displacment....bigger the CC usually = more top end...the kid on the 450 with the 490 kit is still less CC's then the 525
The 480 borekit mostly gives you power and not speed. If he had the same sprocket on it, it would suck ass. I have the 480 and it gives me a lot of torque but not speed.
not trying to hate or anything but my friend and i bought our quads at the same time. he got the 2008 525 le and i got a 2008 yfz450. we drag raced bone stock and yes he did win but not by much. on the track i tear him up but he gets me on top end drag racing. i dont see anyway possible that a 525 can spank a yfz480 like that if its running right.
I absolutely love my 2008 Polaris Outlaw 525s. There are a lot of great quads out there but to me I have not had any issues with mine. It screams through the dunes! Not meaning to have an ego just letting people know if you interested in buying a good class machine I suggest the outlaw 200%. If you are doing a lot of trail riding get the IRS, if you want to race and do dunes more get the S. Anyways, great machine guys!
outlaws arnt fast at all me and my friend have ds450's and we killed my buddy with his outlaw and i killed him with our trx to its not fast trust me.....stick to 450

Lets face it guys,what it comes down to is what the indavidual person likes and is suited to, I have had a wicked ass banshee for 6 yrs and now have updated to 09 fuel injected raptor. I do different types of riding now and the raptor is more suited to it than the banshee was and vice versa, so I truely believe its up to the riders prefference and where he/she rides

stock TRX's are dogs and that's been proven by SEVERAL magizines. however thanks the big damn aftermarket for honda they can be made into something much better than every other quad. but at the end of the day i can still call my quad a polaris. you cannot call your quad a "honda" when the only thing stock is the engine case and plastics
i ride a yfz and my mate rides outlaw 525, both stock, both 08, rolling start in 1st gear we were side by side the whole way in at least 5 races. theres no chance in hell the outlaw was pulling away from me on my stock yfz let alone a 480 like that in the video. i dare say it the other way round with the yfz stock and outlaw has mods done because that outlaw is fuckin quick!!!

Mikethegimp, I agree to an extent. Outlaws look good in same angles and ugly in others.. I have yet to be able to take a good picture of mine though :( I had a Raptor, so going from those looks to these hurt bad lol. BUT the power and quickness difference keeps me smiling :D

do some research, the 450s were all tested with the outlaw 525 with the ktm motors. the outlaw outperformed every 450 honda, yamaha, suzuki etc...in every category, except weight. (check atvsport) they did test. ride with some real people that know how to ride, or do research before you think you have the badest ride around. and by the way, what is a (back headlight)? tail light?...go back to school while your at it as well. lol
Please give me some sort of refernce. who did the test, where, when, etc... I can tell you without even reading the results that there is no way the 525 outperformed the ltr450 (suzuki) on the track due to it's wide stance.
atv sport, i believe it was one of the last issues of 2007 or early 2008. but i do agree with you about the wide stance, the ktm motor produces plenty of power and torque with magnificent acceleration, but the weight and the wide stance do effect its ability to take corners, im not exactly sure how the testers came up with there results but thats what the mag said.

Maybe you didn't say the 450's are faster. I'm not putting the 450's down, but they were ment more for one purpose of riding, and Outlaws, Raptors, and Predators were meant more for trail riding. (Well, the Predator is kind of ment to be both), but most 450cc race quads that are sold, will never get to see the track. At least from most of what I've seen.

It's the same concept with the Outlaw v KTM debate. They are very similar in nature, but KTM outlaws aren't as fast as people think. I mean as much as I like polaris, the weight difference and gearing differences between the KTM and polaris seperates the two.

I think polaris got the better end of that deal. Unless the weight difference between the 2 is more then 100 pounds, well, lets just say rider weight will vary by almost that much.
I didn't know Fox shocks and Ohlin where the same brand. I love Outlaws, but the KTM wins hand down in suspension. And as far as suspension geometry, maybe the front shocks but definately not the rear. And the weight difference is aroun the lines of 50 lbs+ which is alot for a quad. 50lbs on a quad is like 500lbs on a car.
As the saying goes, every 100lbs off is a tenth of a second faster in the quarter for cars. I'm sure the same can be said for quads in a different way.

No matter the shock used, if you look closely, the linkages used for the steering, which was patented by polaris is only on the two bikes we're talking about.

you don't understand polaris's marketing. the 450MXR is NOT a trail quad. the only bikes it won't own on a motorcross track would the the YFZ450R,DS450XMX, KTM 450SX, and LTR because of their width.
on the trails the 525 IRS is the winner stock for stock. Plain and simple. I can't say the same for the 525 SRA at the dunes however. I believe the Raptor 700 has it beat there.

buddyayres i smoked 4 outlaws easy last weekend at the strip. im telling u a yfz that is running good will smoke a banshee. hell half the time u just jet and pipe on yfz it will beat one. i smoke them right now and im not even close the being done with my motor. the last drag races at the fairs i smoked every banshee that came up.

they decided to merge with ktm because polaris couldnt figure out the issues they were having with the clutches and trannys in the predator and outlaw. polaris was losing money so merged with ktm to better help sales since ktm has powerful engines and is a fast growing company in the sport over the last 8 years. polaris should only take credit for everything but the motor and its characteristics.

Like mat said, stock for stock the 525 has 60 more cc's and is faster, even though the YFZ revs about 2000rpm's higher, has a high comp, and is lighter. And this video proves how much faster they are.

The kfx 700 gets its ass handed to it by a renegade, my yfz beats a renegade. In atv sport, the 525 lost to the renegade. A 480 yfz is pushing 65+ hp to the rear wheels and the 525 pushing 51 to the CRANK. Which is 42-45 hp. The kfx is a luggy machine, and i will destroy one with my stock 07 yfz. I have, and i will whoop yours. In dirtwheels, they lined up the outlaw 500 and the 525. The 525 only won by 1 length. The 450's beat the 500's ass.

Lets face it guys,what it comes down to is what the indavidual person likes and is suited to, I have had a wicked ass banshee for 6 yrs and now have updated to 09 fuel injected raptor. I do different types of riding now and the raptor is more suited to it than the banshee was and vice versa, so I truely believe its up to the riders prefference and where he/she rides

stock TRX's are dogs and that's been proven by SEVERAL magizines. however thanks the big damn aftermarket for honda they can be made into something much better than every other quad. but at the end of the day i can still call my quad a polaris. you cannot call your quad a "honda" when the only thing stock is the engine case and plastics

i ride a yfz and my mate rides outlaw 525, both stock, both 08, rolling start in 1st gear we were side by side the whole way in at least 5 races. theres no chance in hell the outlaw was pulling away from me on my stock yfz let alone a 480 like that in the video. i dare say it the other way round with the yfz stock and outlaw has mods done because that outlaw is fuckin quick!!!

Mikethegimp, I agree to an extent. Outlaws look good in same angles and ugly in others.. I have yet to be able to take a good picture of mine though :( I had a Raptor, so going from those looks to these hurt bad lol. BUT the power and quickness difference keeps me smiling :D

do some research, the 450s were all tested with the outlaw 525 with the ktm motors. the outlaw outperformed every 450 honda, yamaha, suzuki etc...in every category, except weight. (check atvsport) they did test. ride with some real people that know how to ride, or do research before you think you have the badest ride around. and by the way, what is a (back headlight)? tail light?...go back to school while your at it as well. lol

Please give me some sort of refernce. who did the test, where, when, etc... I can tell you without even reading the results that there is no way the 525 outperformed the ltr450 (suzuki) on the track due to it's wide stance.

atv sport, i believe it was one of the last issues of 2007 or early 2008. but i do agree with you about the wide stance, the ktm motor produces plenty of power and torque with magnificent acceleration, but the weight and the wide stance do effect its ability to take corners, im not exactly sure how the testers came up with there results but thats what the mag said.

Wow, look at everone talking shit about the Outlaw. The Outlaw won, so GET OVER IT. Those 450cc race quads are not unbeatable. It's actually pretty funny, the YFZ is bored and probablly stroked, and most likely has other mods. Then here comes the Outlaw, and smokes it like a cheap cigar. If anyone is curious, I'm not ripping on the YFZ, or Yamaha, they are good quads. People just need to quit being ingorant.

they do run outlaws on the gncc tracks, and they are eating everything else alive. Not to mention, every time someone wants to see who's quad is faster, a drag race us usually used to determine this. At least from almost everyone I've rode with.

Maybe you didn't say the 450's are faster. I'm not putting the 450's down, but they were ment more for one purpose of riding, and Outlaws, Raptors, and Predators were meant more for trail riding. (Well, the Predator is kind of ment to be both), but most 450cc race quads that are sold, will never get to see the track. At least from most of what I've seen.

there is no way the 450 or 525 will compete in any organized racing, they have a strong motor, and might win a drag race depending on the rider. but it isnt a contender on the main circuits of racing. look around and show me where a 450 is whipping ass in any type of racing?

honda followed it because its great for a desert machine, where you are running top speed with very little tight turns, hence why i said tight courses.

well apparently the 525 was too much for yamahas dominance in the GNCC series or they wouldn't have changed it. they didn't bother changing until they put people with skill on it.
in that case the honda, yamaha, suzuki, and other bikes are behind too. Behind GREATLY KTM's XC and SX bikes in terms of stock performance.
the only problem with the 450MXR is it's stance. If it was motorcross wide people would buy it up fast.

well watch my one drag video of a BONE STOCK KTM 450XC racing a fully drag built YFZ450 and you'll understand why KTM is ahead of everybody in terms of everything except the price tag. you cannot compare ANY bike to KTM stock for stock with the exception of the DS450X. there is absolutely no comparison, the KTM wins. you get what you pay for.

450MXR? Forget it. 525 SRA? Forget that one too. I'll have to cut and upload the 450 one but I absolutely destroy a 525 SRA.
and my drag videos aren't staged, i race in a class system in stock class that only allows exhaust and air filters. the top three get tore down to make sure they aren't cheating.

It's the same concept with the Outlaw v KTM debate. They are very similar in nature, but KTM outlaws aren't as fast as people think. I mean as much as I like polaris, the weight difference and gearing differences between the KTM and polaris seperates the two.

I think polaris got the better end of that deal. Unless the weight difference between the 2 is more then 100 pounds, well, lets just say rider weight will vary by almost that much.

I didn't know Fox shocks and Ohlin where the same brand. I love Outlaws, but the KTM wins hand down in suspension. And as far as suspension geometry, maybe the front shocks but definately not the rear. And the weight difference is aroun the lines of 50 lbs+ which is alot for a quad. 50lbs on a quad is like 500lbs on a car.
As the saying goes, every 100lbs off is a tenth of a second faster in the quarter for cars. I'm sure the same can be said for quads in a different way.

No matter the shock used, if you look closely, the linkages used for the steering, which was patented by polaris is only on the two bikes we're talking about.
As far as weight, a variance of 50 LBS can be made up with a half tank of fuel and skiping lunch for a few days... :D

you don't understand polaris's marketing. the 450MXR is NOT a trail quad. the only bikes it won't own on a motorcross track would the the YFZ450R,DS450XMX, KTM 450SX, and LTR because of their width.
on the trails the 525 IRS is the winner stock for stock. Plain and simple. I can't say the same for the 525 SRA at the dunes however. I believe the Raptor 700 has it beat there.

and no it's not because it just has a bigger engine. the IRS outlaw is 10 times the bike the 700xx is. the difference between the two is the outlaw will outhandle the honda and it weighs a shit ton less with the same power.
and if you read any FAIR 450 shootout, the outlaw 450MXR isn't ranked too far behind. ATV sport was right on the money with their shootout.
the only reason honda does good is due to a strong factory support and strong aftermarket.

they decided to merge with ktm because polaris couldnt figure out the issues they were having with the clutches and trannys in the predator and outlaw. polaris was losing money so merged with ktm to better help sales since ktm has powerful engines and is a fast growing company in the sport over the last 8 years. polaris should only take credit for everything but the motor and its characteristics.

The kfx 700 gets its ass handed to it by a renegade, my yfz beats a renegade. In atv sport, the 525 lost to the renegade. A 480 yfz is pushing 65+ hp to the rear wheels and the 525 pushing 51 to the CRANK. Which is 42-45 hp. The kfx is a luggy machine, and i will destroy one with my stock 07 yfz. I have, and i will whoop yours. In dirtwheels, they lined up the outlaw 500 and the 525. The 525 only won by 1 length. The 450's beat the 500's ass.
