This video title should be : " The process of creating a waxmodel for a mass produced silver ring " ... Real making is still with the hands, melting/alloy of your precious metal , flattening it or going to a press to create a square shaped band , then going to an iron to pull the band smaller longer and maybe different shape (half round, round, triangle, square , ... ) hammering it on a triboulet and round it in size of the finger , then soldering and polishing , done !!
really a great video, but i've got a question. when you pour the liquid silver into the mold, how do you ensure no air is trapped? (as i don't see any vents, or flashing on the finished ring)
@goilo888 yes and no. 3d printing is still in it infancy and detail that can be obtained by han dcarving is still supirior then a printed wax model. simple less detailed rings/jewlery are indeed being made with nice suscess with 3d printing of wax. i an aware that there are 3d printers out there that have vary fine levels of detail. but there is simply not enough of them produsing jewlery at this time. another aspect vs 3d printing is the time it takes to print a simgle model.
Are you open to sharing the casting house you use to produce your jewelry? Perhaps not here but if someone were making an inquiry about it, is that something you would be open to share? I'm an artist that has been in search of a casting house here in the states. Unfortunately the two I used before are not as cost effective as the one I found in Thailand. Nevertheless I'd really like to keep my design here in the states. My interest is in designing Christian jewelry.Thank you, I love your designs
Thanks for the comment :) In many cases the 'secret' blackening process is a liver of sulpher solution.
At Bob Siemon Designs we do not use liver of sulpher as the solution does not produce a deep black coloring that lasts. We use a higher quality blackening process to ensure the coloring stays strong for years to come.
Also, the liver of sulpher solution produces fumes that can be toxic. If used, please take the proper precautions to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
Great vid :)
