Once again the language of "investment" - honestly, is there any social problem in America that can escape from stupid "market solutions" that only make the situation worse? The entire country is capitalism obsessed yet still wonders why inequality is so vast.

you can't have rich people without having poor people equality is a foreign concept to the capitalist system don't fool yourself it's eggs and omelets you can't have a respectable rich gentleman without having his polar opposite to compare him to and when you get right down to it money is what drove people into prison in the first place remove money from the equation and you can easily release 90% of the prisoners

The US has been living in a fool's paradise for most of its existence.

Let's not forget that the first major industry of the emerging nation was slavery coupled with the eradication of the indigenous peoples of the continent.

The US has changed the world for the better in many ways, but the callous disregard for the welfare of those less fortunate in your own country only reinforces the belief that America is not necessarily that beacon on the hill we hear so much about.
