  • Not sure if I remember John Leyton. Not bad.

  • I can't believe this - is that really Helen Shapiro touring the sandwiches around ? A pretty good joke (and nobody here i can show it to, shit ... )

  • a ja tego filmu nigdy nie zapomnę

  • I have been loving this song since my early childhood. Now I'm 39 years old and this song still inspires me. Is awesome.

  • Moja Młodość. Piękna piosenka.

  • @LM474 Chcę się odwdzięczyć. Malutkie "śledztwo" i dotarłam. Angielski tytuł tego filmu - "Its Trad, Dad". Na You Tube pod hasłem "movie Its Trad, Dad" są WSZYSTKIE!!! piosenki z tego filmu.

  • Na tym filmie byłam chyba 5 razy. Cudowny głos Johna. Piosenki- ta i Johny remember me wspaniałe.

  • dla mnie melodia roku 1963

  • made just for me from the v.

  • I have been searching for this song for years!! It was my favourite at the time!! Thank you for sharing it!!!

  • get use to confined spaces Johnny boy,you will be diggin ya way out in a year or 2 ..lol..cool dude..

  • @SpeedTriple59 The same will happen to you and to all of us . John Leyton was a great singer and deserves a far better comment than that which you made. At least, listeners can understand what he is singing Discordant unmelodious Crap Rap " noise-makers who aren't worthy of being called singers will also become worm-fodder and the sooner the better

  • awesome !!!!!!!!!

  • Leyton doing his best Gene Pitney.great tune.

  • Another wonderful Geoff Goddard composition aptly interpreted by John Leyton. Thank you for sharing!

  • Johnny Layton was a favorite of mine!

  • He's 'aving a fag!!!

  • @seftonwallet they all did then...now you cant have one in a pub..times change eh

  • dzięki za ten filmik. szukam tego od 30lat

  • Helen Shapiro is the girl at the begining of this clip , gosh its so good to be able to see John again he was so cool , all us girls went mad over these great singers we had good taste in those days .... sexy guy this one....

  • It is highly dobtful this is in 304 holloway road. It is probably just set up in a studio. Joe meek used to record the strings separate and there would never have been that many of them. That man could work wonders.

  • Brokenscimiter....He smoked a cigarette!!!! how is this worse than hitler..You fuckin twat!!Cannot compare the two,you are off ya head..

  • get a grip, its obviously a joke

  • one of my fav' Leyton 's song ...

  • It was probably Joe Meek's flat in Holloway Road, London. Joe produced John Leyton records. You may have seen the BBC Arena special a few years ago about Joe Meek which showed footage taken in his flat of some of his recordings being made. It was fascinating.

  • @1962Rebel Unlikely. Joe Meek's flat was exactly that, a no frills flat that he would set up as a recording studio, singer in the kitchen, backing singers in the sitting room, drummer in the bedroom and whoever else in the loo, if necessary!

What you see here is probably someone on the Pinewood Studio lot. He couldn't afford to have a large string orchestra shown here, he simply hired about 4 string musicians and double/treble/quadruple tracked them!

  • This clip implies that the song was recorded in a recording studio. It was actually recorded in someone's flat!

  • This track was recorded at Abbey Road...but I don't think this is Abbey Road in the clip?

Great song and fantastic seeing this video.

  • Eeeekk!! At 1:12, he does the unmentionable. He's worse than Hitler!

  • May i ask how he is worse than Hitler?

  • To cam6617, a 'femanazi' who is so intolerant that a man smoking a cigarette

    is like Hitler.

The world is going to be filled with 'children' who are indoctrinated into

the 'law' like the animal men in the Island

of Dr Moreau. For your own benefit, if you

don't do what they require, they'll kill you

    for your own good.

This is a perfect 'manifestation' of today's

academia! The blind leading the blind

    and crippled.

  • not like elvis , sedaka ,and Anka he has soemthing unique , different from them.

  • What a beauty Helen Shapiro was !!!

  • Just think in a year or 2 he will be digging holes with one of the all time tough guys in The Great Escape, aka C.Bronson..respect..

  • Yes, hope they can get some rest what with Steve McQueen bouncing that ball all the time.

  • True Story: I met John Leyton after a performance in a tiny town called Melksham, south of London. When the end of "The Great Escape" was brought up, he quickly mentioned, "Yep, I get away every time!"

  • @shiloh7777 would be true but for the fact that Mkelksham is in wiltshire and not to the south of london

  • That's my girl in the window...another post I haven't ever seen...Johnny is new to me also. The cigarette break seems to catch everyone's attention. Great voice and REBEL...THANKS for posting. We Yanks have so much to learn from the incredible BRITS!!!

Wayne In Texas!!! Keeping it real for Helen!!!

  • @LaVerne37 - The girl in the window was Helen Shapiro!

  • Great clip - Helen Shapiro watching Johnny Letyton! I'll never be able to listen to this now without seeing JL and his ciggy in the instrumental break.

  • Brilliant bit of history everyone turned up and cut a disc,in one take ace clip..

  • everybody year about: alvis , anka and Sedaka , but this is the great talent of the 60's for male singers

  • Great memories! JOHN LAYTON ((a cigarette in the middle of recording?!!))

    Thanks so much
