I used to smoke weed when i first got saved.. i'd buy an eighth and it'd last me about a 6 months.. It'd help me to focus when i wanted to read which would be the only time i'd smoke it I definitely wasn't mastered by it or led astray by it nor did i get 'intoxicated' when i used the amount i used.... if it was legal would you consider the way i used it sinful? I disagree with a lot of the stuff being said about weed in here..

Then you do not know the history of Christianity in Africa naevowns. White americans introduced Christianity and continued to encourage to feed it, even to this day. An amazing example of this is LDS christianity which is spreading extremely fast due to mass missionary work mixed with the bribe of economic help, it is sad.

I do not have bible verse memerized but the NT is the "cultural religion" in the USA and one of the most recounted tales of Jesus was turnign water to whine, yes there are things in the NT speaking against drinking but they are not talked about as much "whine to water" so to the western culture whine is okay drinking alcohal is somehow better then doing other drugs, it is a cultural thing the legal drugs depend on the culture.
I am not a fan of people drinking, but the Bible does not say drinking is a sin. It definitely speaks of drunkeness being wrong and instructs us to be sober. So the boundaries are there. When you're high on drugs, you're clearly not sober, not to mention that it is illegal, so I don't see any way around it. It is not permitted for Christians. Thatt's not cultural, it's biblical. Yes but the bible is the "cultural religion" all cultures have them and religion plays a big role in the government control systems that belong to the individual culture, the reason in your eyes that drinking is okay and pot is not is because of your control system, you have been conditioned to think that a weed that has never hurt anyone is worse then drinking which is both worse on the individuals health and don't even get me started on drunk driving.
If I may interject, wine has been okay to drink, it can be used for infirmities and it is good for your health if taken with a meal. The problem lies with over consumption and then you have strong drink. Strong drink was never to be consumed. Weed on the other hand is a mind altering substance whereas wine requires an over amount. The plant is okay if used for medicine, but nothing was made to intake as smoke.
We all know....I think that alcohal in the country is not used to savour a meal. People drink to get drunk and the drink is a culturally sanctioned drug and if you are going to say this about the plant you cannot even begin to compare that to the prescription business, those are "mind altering substances" and they are much worse then the plant. Ban them all or none.

Actually, I know a ton of people who don't drink to get drunk (granted, most've gotten drunk enough to know how much it sucks). Sometimes there is a refreshment from an alcoholic beverage. Personally, I'm all dry for every day till my Lord comes back for me, then I got some celebrating to do. But the all or nothing attitude is not a way to approach this. Some drugs ( meth, cocaine, etc) are worse than others (nicotine, caffeine, etc).

you are completely correct. you can be forced into religion. but you can not be forced into or out of faith. you choose the faith of atheism because it appeals to your God hating nature. if you were honest you would acknowledge that you do know that jesus is the truth but you choose not to be accountable to him because its so much easier to be accountable to yourself. your conscience says this is true. but your God hating heart says NO like a toddler being told to share. Then you do not know the history of Christianity in Africa naevowns. White americans introduced Christianity and continued to encourage to feed it, even to this day. An amazing example of this is LDS christianity which is spreading extremely fast due to mass missionary work mixed with the bribe of economic help, it is sad.

@crisis123456789 Americans did not introduce Christianity to africa. Christianity was in africa imediately after Jesus ascended. It all happened over the passover feast where people from all parts of the middle east assembled including many from africa and those that were converted took it home with them. American christianity didnt arrive until after 1787. The LDS are not Christian. Real genuine Christianity delivers on every promise. even forgiveness for atheists. i know this first hand.

yes i do but only a negligable amount when it spilled over from the middle East into Egypt but didn't get far. Most of them were wiped out by Islam. This does not change the validity of my argument.

I do not have bible verse memerized but the NT is the "cultural religion" in the USA and one of the most recounted tales of Jesus was turnign water to whine, yes there are things in the NT speaking against drinking but they are not talked about as much "whine to water" so to the western culture whine is okay drinking alcohal is somehow better then doing other drugs, it is a cultural thing the legal drugs depend on the culture.

I am not a fan of people drinking, but the Bible does not say drinking is a sin. It definitely speaks of drunkeness being wrong and instructs us to be sober. So the boundaries are there. When you're high on drugs, you're clearly not sober, not to mention that it is illegal, so I don't see any way around it. It is not permitted for Christians. Thatt's not cultural, it's biblical. I don't care about what the culture says, I go by what the Bible says. Study The Word man. God bless.

Yes but the bible is the "cultural religion" all cultures have them and religion plays a big role in the government control systems that belong to the individual culture, the reason in your eyes that drinking is okay and pot is not is because of your control system, you have been conditioned to think that a weed that has never hurt anyone is worse then drinking which is both worse on the individuals health and don't even get me started on drunk driving.

If I may interject, wine has been okay to drink, it can be used for infirmities and it is good for your health if taken with a meal. The problem lies with over consumption and then you have strong drink. Strong drink was never to be consumed. Weed on the other hand is a mind altering substance whereas wine requires an over amount. The plant is okay if used for medicine, but nothing was made to intake as smoke.

We all know....I think that alcohal in the country is not used to savour a meal. People drink to get drunk and the drink is a culturally sanctioned drug and if you are going to say this about the plant you cannot even begin to compare that to the prescription business, those are "mind altering substances" and they are much worse then the plant. Actually, I know a ton of people who don't drink to get drunk (granted, most've gotten drunk enough to know how much it sucks). Sometimes there is a refreshment from an alcoholic beverage. Personally, I'm all dry for every day till my Lord comes back for me, then I got some celebrating to do. But the all or nothing attitude is not a way to approach this. Some drugs ( meth, cocaine, etc) are worse than others (nicotine, caffeine, etc).

yes i did. i made the hypothetical suggestion that if god exists what created him. i do not claim to know the nonexistence of god, but due to my experience of no proof ever in my life, i can assert i am 99% certain there isnt. i mean, in my life i have more experience of the tooth fairys existence from my childhood, and obviously am understandin of its nonexisting. would you assert that you are certain of gods existence?

But your question about God is not only irrelevant, it's illogical. If we live in a finite universe and are finite beings (which are both true, by the most basic laws of nature and phsyics), then we must come from an INFINITE source. Logically it would take a being who is outside of time and space to create them.
So the answer to your question is the same it's been for 5,000 years. Who is God? He is The Great I AM.

It's just making comments like a hater, for lack of a better term. When pushed to explain what you believe, you had no answer and by your own admission, shifted the debate.
As for what you can conceive, that's fair, but do not limit what I or anyone else can conceive.

Your analogy to color fails in that if I told you that there is a crayola crayon in the color of "periwinkle," most people have never heard of it or seen it. Yet I could describe it based on other colors and people would understand. In the same way we have books on many faiths and supernatural entities. Thus "conceiving" God is not that difficult. And furthermore, as Christians we believe based on FAITH, so empirical confirmation for everything is not necessary. All the best with finals.
