But make no mistake -- Aileen Wuornos WAS a monster. She chose to murder her victims (one of whom, a man who was trying to help her, begged for his life). She was not insane. She knew exactly what she was doing. Throughout her trial she showed no remorse, and blamed everyone else except herself.
Many people endure trauma, but they don't become ruthless killers.

If she had killed in self-defense one time, confessed to the crime, and proof indicated she was telling the truth, that's one thing. But after the first murder, where she claimed she had no choice, she deliberately sought out other men she planned to kill.

Also, Tyria spent all the money Aileen made on herself getting drunk and high then sold out Aileen as fast as possible. It was Tyria who should have been executed.
