  • Betty White is the only one still alive...

  • Who sings Thank You For Bein A Friend for the Golden Girls opening?

  • Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia. These four golden girls were so lovely. I love them forever. It was just one of the most beautiful 80's TV shows. I have a good memory about this show. So sweet!

  • I love this show and I am 20 this makes me cry and laugh all in one show

  • This show was hilarious, I miss it.

  • What such a strong friendship those women had. You could see it in the very beginning.

  • @CowboiSeth

Maybe it doesn't prove that she was the center, it just prove the show clearly wasn't the same thing without all four of them. And it doesn't matter who your favorite is, the show ran through Dorthy, it's just a fact. Watch it. It doesn't mean that she was the best character, or that there was a best character; it's just simply how the show was constructed. Her character was the point guard, if you will, who the scripts set up went through.

  • Time before there was term Gilf. Any how group of hotties.

  • this is a timeless show! My mom & i love watching it together!

  • Oh my gosh I just love this show I watch it all the time my friends don't understand why I watch the golden girls but thats because they don't know what true talent is!

  • DAMNED Edomite demons. Drugs is what's keeping the old hag rose still hanging on. But you cant't hang on forever!! And like the bible says, when you crackers die (and evil soul sell-outs that love you) as soon as you wake up, there is no OTHER SIDE FOR YOU, your side is HELL. So stop looking UP thinking your 'loved' animals is up there. There BURNING as you ALL WILL BE SOON. Laters!!

  • This show makes being old actually more fun.

  • Yes, Rue McChanahan was the youngest of the cast and Betty White was the older one on the cast Betty White was born in 1922 and Estelle Getty was a year younger she was born in 1923.

  • Betty White defeated the other Golden Girls and now she is THE ONE.

  • who wouldnt blanche do

  • You would think that this show would have mainly appealed just to older persons but I was a teen when this show was on and I loved it!

  • best show ever

  • the best one ever!!!!!!

  • Where is that episode at @ 0:23??

  • @loanme2dollarz i recognize that scene from the "break-in" episode of season 1, but i don't remember blanche doing that with her arm :P...deleted part? not sure

  • There's an episode on now. It's way funny. Much better than I thought it'd be as I remembered it. Way to go old gals!

  • 2 bad that Estelle Getty (Sophia), Bea Arthur (Dorothy), and Rue McClannahan (Blanche) are no longer w/ us.

  • @YankeePat94 Yeah. There burning in hell where the rest of you cracka's are headed. That's too bad. Not really, its actually a good thing. Live up life now, burn later.

  • @THEALMIGHYCHOSEN12

Are you on any drugs, sir?

  • @UofLCardFan08 Hey I'm still being typed to on here! Comments must be hitting home!! Praise GOD. And. I'm a female!! You know darn well that you pink/red people STAY ON DRUG and then you leave in the cabinet for your children to enjoy. Child not doing well in school-drugs. Not happy on the job-drugs. Penile disfunction-DRUGS, lost your job because this country is being heavily judged by MY FATHER THE LIVING GOD AS PROMISED IN THE BIBLE~~~~~PRICELESSSSS!!!!

Did that answer your question ESAU??

  • @THEALMIGHYCHOSEN12

Yes....because white people are the only ones to do drugs.

  • Who the hell would click the dislike button? Seriously? Really?

  • blanche was AWSOME sophiea ROCKS dothery WAS OK ROSE WAS HALOUS R.I.P ESTELLE BEA RUE

  • Mrs Beatrice Arthur, Rue McLanahan, and Estelle Getty, may you all rest in peace. Wonderful actrices who didn't get the respect they deserved in life.

And may Mrs Betty White remain with us for a couple of years more.

  • stop or my mom will shoot

  • This is my favorite TV show

  • Comment removed

  • i <3 this show!

  • it sucks that bea arthur didn't win an emmy for her performance as The Cantina Barkeep in the Star Wars Holiday Special.

  • @illuminatioracle Bea was the center of the show. Everybody contributed much, and were all very important; but Bea was the facilitator that everything revolved around.

I think the failure of Golden Palace without her proved that.

  • The humour and writing are both classic and timesless. It's like Laurel and Hardy, people will be watching this show, laughing and loving it in one hundred years. To all the golden girls and other cast and crew that made it, thank u, and thank you for being a friend x x x x

  • what episode is at 0:25

  • @ZekaDangerous It's Season 1, "Job Hunting"

  • RIP Rue, Bea, and Estelle. Thanks for a million laughs.

  • the best series on telly i remember watching it first run on channel 4 watched every episode, such a sad loss with Rue McClanahan just passing away recently she will be very much missed long live The Golden Girls

  • I am 21 and I have loved "The Golden Girls" ever since I saw it a few years ago on Hallmark Channel. My grandma, my mom, and my aunt all like this show so it is so great that I love it as well! Even if it came out before I was even born, I consider it a classic and it will be my favorite show forever. It is the funniest show ever made!!! I'm serious... I've never laughed so much in my life! :)

  • Rest in peace Rue. We will all miss you.

  • Rest in Peace Rue McClanahan.

  • RIP Rue,so sad we're losing so many Golden Girls but they live on for other generations, thnks to DVDs.

  • R.I.P Estelle,Bea & Rue You are dearly missed

  • RIP Rue, you were great and will ALWAYS be fabulous! Thank you for being a friend.

"I swear with God as my witness, I will never pick up another man!... in a library... on a Saturday... unless he's cute... and drives a nice car... Amen"

  • RIP Estelle, Rue, Bea!!!

  • RIP Rue McClanahan (Blanche) ... Betty White (Rose) now the only survivor.

  • Blanche is my GG soul sister. RIP Mrs McClanahan

  • Blanche is my GG soul sister. RIP Mrs McClanahan

  • Its a sad day for golden girl family I think betty white is only main character living

  • @Derriso1 - She is.

  • @Derriso1

She is, and the ironic thing is that she was the oldest of all of them.

  • @Kitkat9795 Actually, Bea was. Then Estelle. THEN Betty. And finally, Rue.

  • @vickimist Actually, Betty White was the oldest, DOB 1/17/22, then Beatrice Arther, 5/13/22, then Estelle Getty, 7/25/23, and Finally Rue McClanahan, 2/21/34.

  • @jacono1982 The other day I realized I messed it up. I always thought Bea was the oldest.

I always knew Rue was the youngest at least. lol

  • @Derriso1 She is. But one day, not soon we hope, the entire cast shall be reunited!

  • Its a sad day for golden girl family I think betty white is only main character living

  • RIP Rue.. such a sad day!

  • RIP Rue AKA Blanche watched the show since I was like 7

  • RIP Rue

  • You will be missed Rue McClanahan you were my favorite Golden Girl!!!

  • RIP Blanch

  • RIP RUE U WILL B MISSED

  • RIP, Rue. What an amazing, talented lady. I'm so sad she's gone...

  • @hugowla you can't possibly compare it. Sex and the City is a product of the 2000s nonsense, copout and un-warm shows. The Golden Girls was inviting, with true plots, true acting, ideas and writing, and was treated and seen as something anyone can watch, even a family. It was art.

  • RIP Blanche. A lady always knows when it's time to leave.

And when she does, the echo of her laughter, the scent of her perfume and the memories of her love, linger on.

NEW YORK—Rue McClanahan, the Emmy-winning actress who brought the sexually liberated Southern belle Blanche Devereaux to life on the hit TV series "The Golden Girls," has died. She was 76.

  • So sad about Rue. What a big loss....the three of them passing away occurred so quickly and close in time. Betty White must be shocked and emotional. This show is historic and timeless, and so will these four women. It was all perfect, for a sitcom it was art on camera, and everything about this show worked out perfectly and timed perfectly - a rare thing. These ladies are my friends, and I do thank them for it.

  • Thank you. I know We TV replays it weeknights and usually 4 episodes/night.

  • I remember when this show was on. In the 80's shows that featured old people was popular. It seems like in the last 15 to 20 years you have a shift to wear most people are young now. Most actors in a lot of shows look young to me. Maybe I'm just getting old. lol

  • This show was something special. Still is, in fact.

  • Not embarrassed at all to say that I'm a 32 year old guy who used to always watch this show with my grandparents and still watch it today sometimes. It is definitely funny no matter how old you are.

  • @Quadzilla99 ..me neither. I loved this show. I'm 37

  • @Quadzilla99 i agree :)

  • Oh, this is one of my favorite shows. I called it, 80s Sex and the City. It is even better than Sex and the City.

  • thaha. great name. :D

  • @hugowla Except you don't have to be a woman or gay guy to think its funny.

  • @hugowla I don't know about that but it is TV-PG DL when reran on Hallmark Channel

  • @hugowla no its golden girls get it right LOL sex and the city is whack! they just retitled it sex and the city...hehe

  • @hugowla Golden Girls is 10x better than the skanky driven Sex in the City.

  • My very favorite show ever! All of these actresses were truly gold. RIP Bea and Estelle. Thanks for all the laughs. I did not miss GG, 8pm, on Saturday nights. I miss those good old days so much.

  • this is my favorite theme song

  • This is a great show!

  • I love Betty White's character Rose. She's always been my favorite.

  • yes shes mine :)

  • i want this to go back on t.v!!!! please somone put it back on...

  • @wiissbb123600 I know Hallmark has them on in the evenings Monday through Friday.

  • who sang this song

  • RIP Estelle Getty and Beatrice Arthur

  • My cocker spaniel used to "sing" when this opening played.

    I totally miss her.

  • I saw this show when I was a kid and still love this show!

  • Estelle Getty was the youngest of all the main female characters but played the oldest woman on the show.

  • Actually Rue McClanahan (Blanche) was the youngest of the cast members.

  • @STJL06 actually sophia was i think lol

  • @wiseratedr Estelle Getty was younger than Bea Arthur but she was not the youngest. Rue MacClanahan was the youngest. She was born in 1934, Estelle was born in 1923 and Bea and Betty in 1922.

  • @STJL06 And Sophia was actually a few months younger than Dorthy.

I didn't learn that til after the show. Estell Getty did a real good job of convincingly playing a much older woman.

  • @STJL06 actually Estell Getty was

  • @STJL06 And Estelle Getty was younger than Betty White and Bea Arthur.

  • @STJL06 And Estelle Getty (Sophia) was younger than Betty White and Bea Arthur

  • Rue Mcclanahan was the youngest by many years, but yes Estelle wasn't as old as they made her.

  • @onkeymaytree She was actually younger than Bea (who played her daughter Dorthy) by a few months.

  • They are all funny but i have to say that Betty White was my favorite

  • @babyface604 you sir are a noob

  • Great song, great show.

  • i love Betty White lol...

  • was it just random when the extended version was used or was it part of a specific seson?

  • is all that nessesary this a great show asshole!

  • what the?

  • Nice song!

  • I was at a girl's house for her birthday party one year and she had a piano at her house.

Everyone asked if someone knew how to play and I was the only one who could.....

So they put me on the spot and told me to play the birthday girl a song.

I had a brain freeze and couldn't come up with anything when suddenly this song came to mind.

I had a good laugh at first but thankfully this song is very easy to play and sing.

I later realized I simply could have went with "Happy Birthday".

  • Beatrice, Estelle, we ALWAYS remember you!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm only 20-something and for God knows whatever reason, I used to watch this show when I was little and I cry when I listen to this song. And I'm a dude

  • I'm a guy too and sometimes the song and show makes me cry. It's very touching.

  • @onkeymaytree O.o

It was kinda sick with the ancient women; but funny.

    R.I.P Bea.

  • QUITE POSSIBLY BEST TV THEME!

  • It's actually a song proper song by Andrew Gold from 1978. It's called Thank You For Being A Friend.

  • HELP...

Looking at the 0:24 seconds into it, Blance is sitting wit Dorothy and Rose. Blanche pulls her hand back into the sleeve of the red jacket she is wearing.

Can anyone tell me what episode this is from? I have all the episodes on DVD and can't find it. I assume it is from the first few episodes, but can't seem to ever find it. Maybe it was cut from the show? I haven't seen the episode where she is wearing red. Thanks.
