We have many mainland Chinese working in Singapore & I too sensed the same sentiment from these group of workers. I might refrase you, that the illusion is that you can't do politically anything else but to vote, whereas voting gives you nothing. They say voting is being active and expressing yourself, but instead it keeps you from doing anything that challenges the power of the elite. You won't vote non-elites, and even if you do, the system makes elites out of anyone who gets power. The system denies the sharing of power and enforces the capitalist oppression. The solution is to develop better forums
