I own 2 kicker CompVR 12's, they're 350w rms when used in a ported box, with a subsonic -24db/oct at 25hz.

400w rms in a sealed box, with a subsonic -24db/oct @25hz

no subsonic filter, 300w rms MAX because the lower frequencies roast up the voice coil a lot faster...

Kickers are cheap woofers...they cant take much abuse--but theyre still the best bump you can get for <$100/ea.

Do you believe everything you read on the internet? I OWN CVR'S and I read/copied that straight from the manual that's sitting ON MY DESK. The only way a CVR can get 400rms is in a sealed box-- Ported boxes knock your power handling DOWN, because the woofers don't have an air suspension behind them to fight over-excursion.

FAIL, if you have a ported box which is tuned to 30hz and if you don't have a subsonic filter. You could still push it with it's RMS wattage, if you don't play it below tuning.Low frequency let the sub excurt more so more cooling, most thermal failure's happen above 45-50 hz, because the coil can cool itself because it doesn't moves enough.

2.8ft^3 @ 36hz, subsonic set at -6db/oct@20hz, no boost/eq... The reason this is, is every woofer's suspension and electrical characteristics are different. Some might throw a ridiculously high ohm load (I've seen as high as 40 ohms) at 20hz. Average woofers give nominal impedance in the 40-60hz range. Higher impedance = more thermal dissipation of power.

Less power, yes, I never said it didn't. HOWEVER higher impedance also means more thermal dissipation of power (instead of converting it to electromagnetism). Thermal dynamics are your friend-- Run 12v from your PC through a variable resistor to a fan, crank your resistance up (and thusly fan speed down) and feel the potentiometer's casing. I can guarantee, that while you're feeding less power to the fan due to higher -impedance- you won't be hanging onto that pot's casing for long...

Nope, bullshit. Check Kicker's site and manuals...I know because I own them. They're rated 400 watts rms on a typical 4 ohm load, together running 800. So, if you have lower impedence, how is it going to drop the RMS? And if you don't understand that concept to know why it drops, you probably shouldn't post anything conerning impedance to begin with. more power = better results. but over powering is pointless and gets coils to melt but it doesnt hurt to power up 100W kicker with 300W amp turned to RIGHT sensitivity. BTW Why every1 allways crank up car amps at max. that screw is meant to adjust input sensitivity not the volume. decreasing input resistance too much causes transistors to burn out and possibly destroy speakers.
