  • This games really hard to find lucky i got it.

  • At 1:37 a keep hearing the ios mail sound and i thinkmits my ipad

  • I have 2 things to say: 1. I wish I got this game. 2. It's pronounced en-ee-ess not ness.

  • Wii version is just the same thing, but only around 6 bucks.

  • The Lost Levels version isn't watered down. It's the exact same game, except that it lets you save where you can continue from the level you died on, rather than the start of each world.

  • does it work on a regular ds, becuase i heard you can only play it on a JAPANESE gameboy advance or a JAPANESE ds

  • @Blitzwing989 This game will work on ANY GBA, and any original American DS, with the GBA slot. It's region free.

  • @Blitzwing989 Yes.It works on ANY DS or GBA.

  • @Blitzwing989 The original DS and DS Lite aren't region locked, so you can play it there.

  • NES is an acronym, not a word. En-ee-ess.

  • its pronounced N - E - S not ness!lol

  • @markakramgirgis in latin america we call NES no en-ee-es

  • lmao at "a super hard hardcore i hate children game of taku only version of mario"

  • I have the Super Mario All-Stars cartridge which has this game on this. I also downloaded this off the Virtual Console, and I was always wondering why I had such a hard time finishing it compared to the one on SNES.

  • or download the rom..

  • Also I always use Luigi on the GBA. I suck with Mario lol

  • I got this game a few years ago off of ebay. I got to world 8-3 today and lost (even using the extra lives glitch!) :(

  • you had to find a special warp pipe and then itll take you to an alternate lvl

  • i suck so much balls at this i cant beat world 1-1

  • lost level

    pft

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! im gonna beg my parents to get me this to my birthday!!!! MARIO GAMEZ PWN ALL!!!!!!!!!

  • in super mario dx for GB it includes part two or the secret lvlvs as some ppl call it

  • @ZombieZzFTW How do you get it on the deluxe game?

  • How can I get this game? (GBA)

    Please Reply!!

  • i played this game

it isn't harder than the other Mario games

all Mario games are hard but they're fun

  • Yellow GbA cartridge?

  • It's the Japanese version of the Classic NES Series. These are made to look like the Famicom cartridges/disks.

This was on the Famicom Disk and it's disk was yellow.

  • where can ubuys this?

  • I got mine from ebay, i made a video about mine if you wanna watch go to my videos

  • is this the latest gameboy advance? Can I get this same game from bestbuy?

  • I got a download of this with the Super Nintendo Entertainment Gaming System.

  • nintendo published the intense ly hard mega man

  • I had the rom and beat it a few times. It's a great game :D

  • stupide blabla

  • lost levels wtf i want the real One in the Original Nes Series

  • where can i get this game for my gba can you pm me a link

  • isnt these super mario bros. 1

because smb2 is where they get plants and throw them

  • yeah but most likely on the game you have, it shows super mario 2 as "The lost levels" Which was 2 for japan.

  • he explains at the beginning

  • thank you i was just seeing the vid and not listening

  • but i still cant find a link to buy it

  • this is the REAL super mario bros 2 moron!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i know punk bitch aka the lost levels

  • actualy this is thye real super mario 2 the one america got was a rip off of some game called doki doki panic japan got the good one...

  • i already know thanks anyways

  • actually doki doki panic is from nintendo they didnt rip off anyone

  • for some reason, i want to go and grab a NES out of my closet when there's nly a gamecube and a dreamcast, some clothes, and lots of toys in there and my snes is sitting nest to me with the smas game sart in it. wtf did i just type. i going to blow my summer vaacation on smbll =D

  • First off, good review.

Secondly, it's not a "Famcom." It's a Famicom. And it's The Adventure of Link. Not Link's Adventure.

  • :) This game definatly sounds Nintendo hard.

Is the All Stars version easier? It doesn't mean anything to me though,I stink at Platformers.

  • Yes Naruhina.

  • Naru.

It is easier? Darn it,I stink at Nintendo platformers then.

  • Nah. I seen worse.

  • lol, i just got this imported yesterday

  • All Starts version is superior, this one is just evil.

Feels more like a rom hack than SMB2 Doki ever did.

  • The ground looks different on this game. I have Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, but the ground looks the same as in the 1st Mario game. Only thing about the Deluxe verison of this game is they don't have World's 9 through D.

  • Nice review!

  • They watered down the lost levels,it not as difficult as the original !?

    Now am really pissed

  • I'm not sure how. I know on the All-Stars version and GGC version, you can save the game so you don't have to start all the way over at World 1 (which is a VERY big help), but other than that, it's just as hard as ever.

  • I see. Guese i'll start avoiding power ups

    to make it harder myself.

  • i dont know who's playing the game....but who ever it is...they SUX!!!!

  • i have this on the vc on my wii. omg it is very hard. i also had it on the gbc. i beat it and i felt like god then. now that i know that the famicom game is harder, i just wonder how i will feel if i beat it. XD

  • i had this original version...it was hard..and i was small..i phailedXD

  • He is not lying. This game is REALLY Hard. I have it on teh vc and the farthest ive gotten was to world 3. Im still trying to beat it.

  • I beat this when I was 8 on the GBC

  • Hey, hey ! lol :P You should actually play this GBA Famicom version. The GBC version is toned down in difficulty ^^

  • In addition it lacks some features too, first one comes to mind is wind.

Also the GBC version doesn't have worlds 9, and A-D (although they are hidden in the ROM and mostly incompletely)

  • i have this on VC and its cool but REALLY hard. im still only on world 3

  • i would get the virtual console version if i were you

  • the virtual console version is EXACTLY like the famicom disk system version! it Evan has ALL the glitches and even flickering sprites!

  • ...and the squashed graphics from GBA screen size aren't that bad at all.

  • I got this game off of Ebay, since it's only in Japan I guess I got lucky. This game owns!

  • this game is on Super Mario All Stars and i play it all the time but can never get passed the second level

  • that is the original

  • Nope, our Mario 2 was a completely different game to the Japanese version.

  • i meant the one he was playing is the original one not our mario 2

  • you said the game is really hard so did you ever beat the game ??

  • there was picture of wat looked like a DS lite. could you get this game on a DS lite?

because, with save states i have completed the all stars version which is great, but i want the original.

  • cool

  • that has got to be the first time you used lower case letters, cool indeed.

  • Great game, but yes, it is very hard! Only beat it once or twice really, with MANY deaths on the way! Got the Virtual Console version, looks really good on my plasma screen! Texture is incredible, speed and framrate is really good, and hearing the music is a blessing! The extra obstacles though, are a nuisance, but what do you expect? It is Super Mario Bros for Super Players! LOL!

  • Where did you get this one? I know much about this game, played it at "Mario Allstars" and "Mario Bros Deluxe". But I don't know where to get it for GBA. Is it included in "NES Classics Super Mario Bros. "? Please tell me, I wanna get it!

  • The GBA version of Japan's Super Mario Bros. 2 was not released in Europe or North America. It was only released in Japan. Considering you're from Germany, you might want to start looking at the internet auction sites, like eBay. That might be your best bet. Good luck finding a copy.

  • Yeah that was just plain stupid alls they had to do was release it as the lost levels like the snes allstars release. Damn prejudice nintendo of america, we want our hard games!

  • I beat this game but like he said it is extremly hard

  • i mean super mario lost levals??

  • hey is that super amrio lost levals???? it taht ent it?

  • yes it is, but that is just a "parody" of what this game was on super mario all-stars! Nintendo made an excuse that these "new" levels of the super mario bros engine appeared "out of nowhere", since the Western regions never got a release until the 16 bit All-Stars game! That's how it got its name! I prefer to call it Super Mario Bros 2, and the so-called Western version Super Mario Bros: Subcom or whatever the world the mario clan ended up in!

  • I got the Wii Virtual Console version of it. I can't get past World 4-1. And the only reason I'm even THAT far was from getting to a Warp Zone in 1-2.

Seriously, this guy and NOA were right-- this IS a tough game.

  • I wish I had the GBA port.

  • those are the extra levels of the GBC verion of super mario bros delux but to unlock it(i think)you need to complete the star corses

  • You CANNOT play the worlds 9 through D on Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. You can only play Super Mario Bros. 2 levels 1 through 8.

  • fortunately, i'm "hardcore" enough to have gotten to level 8-4 of this on the gameboy color, but i keep getting stuck at the ridiculous loops in that level.

  • Great video and very informative. If this game was released in all of it's original glory it would have ended the America's love affair with Super Mario. Kids would have played this game and would have said, "This game is too hard. I hate Mario!" So when S.M.B. 3 was going to be released, kids would have ignored the new Mario game and Nintendo of America would not have Mario as there mascot anymore.

  • @slugMAN13 I'm not sure I really agree with that...a lot of very popular franchises released games in North America that were much more difficult than their Japanese counterparts and those games did great. If you look at the timing of the release it has a lot more to do with it than the difficulty of the game. In 1986 Nintendo was barely even starting to get a fanbase in the US and most people hadn't even played Super Mario 1 yet, so releasing part 2 didn't make much sense.

  • @RichieEastside In 1986, Nintendo was about to expand the NES to other markets in the U.S. at that time. If the original SMB2 was released in the U.S. back then, the difficulty level alone could have potentially spurned lots of gamers from playing Mario games, affecting NES game sales. If you were 6 or 7 years old at the time this game came out after playing SMB1, and you tried this, you might have thrown the controller at the TV! I think that's part of the reason why Nintendo shelved this game.

  • @mcorivervsaf Sure it's part of the reason, but it's not ALL the reason as is the commonly held belief.

  • i also got this game on my gba but ,m stack in world 4 since you can,t save wich makes this game to damm hard!!!!!!!!

  • Who the fuck says "Nes" people either say "N.E.S. " or "Regular Nintendo" what do you call P.S.2 "Pisstwo" ? Don't worry tho, from the sounds of It you can't even talk right either.

  • YOU DON'T SAY "NES"!!!!!

    JEEEZZZZ!!

You're supposed to ALWAYS SAY "N.E.S."!!!

  • why do you care?

  • Does it really matter?

  • Thats because nintendo america sucked. It was too hard for them so they felt like retards. When i first got my Wii, the first thing i snagged was Super Mario Bros 2 (Lost levels to some people) Because it IS the much more harder game

  • if you like mario get this game on vertual consle (its so worth it)

  • is this game playable on an american ds or gba sp?

  • yeah the gba and ds games do not have region lockout, so any japanese game will work on a us system

  • thanks

  • How much was this game?

  • i love this gameee

  • I wish they would include difficultly settings on Mario Games. More enemies, stronger bosses, and less health available. Super Mario Galaxy was interesting with its 3 health piece system but the game is to easy to really show case it. Few times have I ever felt endangered playing that game.

  • Eh, all other Mario games are pretty easy it seems. The Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 was the first and coincidentally the last time the designers at Nintendo Co. actually attempted in creating a difficult and unconventional Mario game.

  • at the risk of sounding ironic; This game is harder than... ANYTHING!!!

I... think it might take me a while to beat it.

I could only get up to Level 3-4 today!

  • The difficulty was not toned down for the SNES version. In fact, it has been upped a bit in Worlds A-D. You do, however, start off with 5 lives in the SNES version, instead of 3. And there is one additional method of getting extra 1-ups in the SNES version if you have the skills to pull it off. There are no extra power-ups or 1-ups, and certainly not fewer enemies.

  • I hate this game due to its excessive, fun killing difficulty but also due to the lack of originality unlike the other SMB2. Actually Mr.Miyamoto was more involved in Doki Doki Panic than with this game (he was busy finishing Zelda).

  • i got that on nes

  • Count the number of times you've said the word "Super" in your video.

  • That game looks sooooooo easy.

  • I've played the All-Stars version and the SMB Deluxe version, but not this one.

  • i've gotten to lv 5 on here

  • if you like mario... you'll luv my videos

  • im buyin a snes just to get mario allstars lol

  • If you have a Wii, you can wait until all-stars come out or download this game.

Yeah, this game will be on VC until the end of September!

  • Dude, you are so lucky man. Great review ! I was searching for this, I haven't ever found this gem on GBA :\

  • I REALLY WANT THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah but the SNES version kinda had a weird ending. When you save the princess at world 8-4 or world D-4.

  • The snes version was watered down anyway, it had less enemies, more fire flowers and one impossible jump shortened.

  • I have to get that game the graphics are gold. They are better than the SNES and GBC graphics. It will keep me busy because i finish games quick.

  • LOl I don't know why they kept this back and let Ghosts n Goblins out, that is way more difficult and much more frustrating -- despite the nice feature of unlimited continues and continuing from where you died (mind you it pretty much had to be or no one would ever have finished it).

  • How can you get this game? In america?

  • Everybody I know pronounced "NES" as "Ness"

  • Good ol' Nessie, lol. Nice review man. This is the best Super Mario in my opinion. Love it.

  • Dude, Super Mario Bros 2 is HARD. I already can't beat Super Mario Bros without losing my mind in World 8. Super Mario Bros 2 just gets me more ticked than ever.

  • I know its hard, thats why I love it. I finished both Super Mario 1 and 2*Jap. It's not impossible you know.

  • They should be pronouncing it like that. I know some people who pronounce it like that too, but if I told them it was wrong, they'd tell me to shut up. If you look on eBay, some people will call the Nintendo Entertainment System the "Nintendo Nes." To them, the system is the "Nintendo 'Ness'" but to anyone who knows what NES stands for, it's the Nintendo Nintendo Entertainment System! Don't call it the "Ness."

  • Yo, bud. NES stands for "Nintendo Entertainment System." NES isn't actually the name of the system and isn't really supposed to be pronounced "ness."

  • Yeah. It's supposed to be pronounced as its initials.

  • You said it, brother.

  • I have this! It goes for $70-$80 on Ebay now LOL!

  • Oh, so that's what I was playing on Super Mario Bros. Deluxe on the Game Boy Color. You could unlock a mode called "For Super Players". I actually beat it, but I really got stuck on either 8-2 or 8-3 with this huge wall that I couldn't get over at first.

  • Then you missed a invisible block. I have this game too on the NES.

  • Dude that is the hardest super mario game ever made. It is HARD CORE

  • Yeah, I know. The only one harder than this isn't a game, but it's a hack.

  • Lag? What a pathetic excuse... You guys just suck lol

  • Either he sucks or maybe he's just right about it being hard. I think it's the latter.

  • cool
