Talented I'll give him that, but I don't think he will ever go from last place to first whilst having to deal with penalties & punctures... in the wet! moral: good, but no Button... or Hamilton... or Alonso... or or even maybe Webber. Definitely better then Massa though muahahaha!
@TheGuyWhoLikesF1 to be fair, as good as Buttons drive in the 2nd half of that race was, he was helped enormously by Safety Cars, or he would've finished a lap down or more. Without Safety Cars, Vettel may well have won in Canada by a minute like Hamilton did at Silverstone 2008 and you have to question, what was JB playing at going down to last place to begin with???
@91jb12 True, but then you could also say that Vettel was helped enormously by his amazing car or his team-boss. I don't know why but I just don't see it in Vettel, when he won his first race in Monza 2008 I thought that he would become one of the next great's of F1 and yes he has won 2 titles already, one of them I think was pure luck, but frankly all I have seen of him is pull away at the front and stay there racing. no wheel-to-wheel skill. Again, he is very quick, but he is not the best
@ErosaScuderia Even though he isn't as aggressive an overtaker as Hamilton, Vettel clearly can overtake. And it's a waste of time trolling this video to claim he would mess up next time.
@ErosaScuderia How is it true that he can't overtake? The only reason people said that is because he caused two collisions in 2010. As if every other driver hasn't made similar mistakes when racing. So even if he isn't the most prolific overtaker, he definitely can do it.
@EgleThe12 - How many times have this excuse? Bringing up the Toro Rosso. One race, oh my God, that makes him so good. *Sarcasm* Alonso and Hamilton all day, fuck Vettel.
@SJM1994London Of course he hasn't had the number of formula 1 races - but if yoe see him driving a formula 1 car you could imagine it. That's what I ment ;)
@ErosaScuderia lol not as good? guess who just became twice world champion and guess who won back in 2008 with timo glock's help. Gayest move ever. Not as good? lol, u suck.
@marvinracer88 - Yes, with the best car on the entire grid, at times faster than the Ferrari F2004. The RB7 was that good, so calm down. He's not that good.
@SmokerFace12 yeah, the great paradox, win races and everybody loves you, win too many and they hate you. I don't really know what is going to happen next year, maybe Vettel will take some more risks now that he is a 2 times WC but I fear he will go on ruthless german mode again and will do anything to win the Championshin even if that means boring but secure driving. At the end of the day, you don't score points with entertaining the audience.
@philateliceun its funny that you mention boring and secure driving exactly in this video, because it shows that vettel is doing the absolute opposite
i think everyone is forgetting that Vettel was also epic in 2008 and 2009. In 2009 the Red Bull didn't have KERS or the double diffuser for a long time. But he still got it on the second spot of the WDC
respect on vettel for a great overtake but look on the great start from alonso. If he would have a better car he would have a better race phase and he would have FUCKING WON THAT RACE.
@nixxxon18 Yeah, right, a guy who's become the youngest double world champion and who has set record after record after record throughout his entire career in every racing class hasn't proven anything. Following you "logic" Schumacher hasn't proven anything either.
@nixxxon18 The RB7 was the best car in fast corners. The top speed was only average, and under cold and slippery conditions McLaren was far ahead (since they could handle the tires much better under this conditions). Honestly, the RB7 was overwhelmingly superior in the first quarter of the season. After that the RB7 just had the ability to open the DRS-wing much earlier than every other car, which gave Vettel a good advantage in qualifying.
This was the first full F1 race I watched (I know, I'm a newbie), and if I hadn't seen a race this entertaining, I don't think I'd become a fanatic like I have. And if I hadn't seen an overtake like this, I wouldn't be a Vettel fan like I am now ;)
0:03 Vettel hits the Dirt but still overtakes Alonso! The fact is when you touch the Dirt you loose 50 Km of you're speed that's 50 Faster than Alonso Amazing!
@KingProBoxMan this is exactly why am not amazed, I'm only amazed by the fact that vettel didn't end up in a wall when he hit in the dirt, all the other stuff were just pure car speed
@fidan2fast The RB7 only had a average top speed. The reason why he still could overtake Alonso was downforce and the skills and guts to use it in that corner.
@fidan2fast Oh, wait, you become slower than your opponent when you try to block him, even when he's already on the grass? Then why block him anyway? However, that's not the point. My point was, that the RB7 was much slower on straights than Ferrari and McLaren. In Silverstone the RB7 was barely faster than the Ferraris - with open DRS-wing!
i said it before and I would say it again, sorry guys, Vettel might be the greatest driver that ever lived, but we don't get to see that when he's driving for RBR... every time he falls behind or makes a mistake, his car saves his ass, and especially passes like this prove my point
@fidan2fast "that my friends is not called skill, but engine power..." Despite that FACT that Renault engineers admit that they can't match the ultimate power, with or without KERS, of the Ferrari or Mercedes units.
It is called short gearing, a much better exit of turn one, along with nerves made of steel to dare hang his car on the outside and then the skill to not loose the car in a massive fishtail when he hits the grass.
only a good driver would have the balls to make a pass like that, this proves he isn't a bad driver but i agree he wouldn't have made it without a better car, the renault engine has less power than the ferrari and red bull had trouble with the K.E.R.S during the season so that didnt help him either, what helped him was a brilliantly designed car
@AliB649 well I pointed out that this move is more bravery than skill, and baravery doesn't mean that you have skills, but balls
the aerodynamics are the best feature of the RBR's, and engine power comes to mind when you think of speed, it was an irrational response I admit : )
back to the subject, overtaking on the outside needs more speed, the skill is only in the control of the car, and vettel failed here by going offtrack and was lucky he didn't lose control on that patch of grass...
@fidan2fast Vettel went (slightly) off track because there wasn't really any room. Alonso defended by going towards the left (a spirited defence), but Vettel still got past. That is all that matters.
@FxSnRoK for sure but vettel have skill like alonso and hamilton every person who says vettel is only dumb and his car makes realy all also i mean he drives like a karthikeyan no for sure not
@dragon2712 i disagree yes he's talented driver but the red bulls had the best package fernado also is the best driver there intill we see kimi rikkonen come back to f1 :D
@webster12554 I never said Vettel's the best, I just said he's a freak. I too think Alonso is the best in f1 :) As for Kimi, well, I'll wait and see, he can be either the best or completely average!
This isn't amazing. A Supernova is amazing, a child being born is amazing, a Red Bull with an obvious downforce advantage passing a Ferrari that lacks this luxury is not amazing.
You want to say that this overtake proves Vettel is better? This just proves that RBR can keep on with full throttle in a turn like that at 260km/h or even more...EVERY other car would have needed to slow a lil bit down otherways it was gone....while with RBR u don't need to do that. That's all....he didn't do anything of unbeliveble...he just overtook Alonso using what his car can do best....turns.
@luctus93 I'm pretty sure they usually don't go through Curva Grande at the car's limit of traction (cause I know it from racing simulator games like GTR2). The reason they drive the biggest radius is to minimize friction in order to use the tyres' grip for acceleration and not because they wouldn't pass it otherwise. So every car should have been able to take the turn in a "worse" radius. The bravery and car control (not losing the car in the dirt at that speed) show Vettel's skill here.
this is to everyone who sais that vettel is not the best, and that alonso is bettter, vettel was on the grass for a moment but still managed to overtake him, this was beatutiful...
there r some stupid comments on here, the fact is red bull have designed and created a very good race car for there drivers, but they still have to go out and perform in that car. vettel is showing how good the car is but if look at webbers season stats you would think he was in a slow car. so its 50% car and 50% driver skill
The best car on the grid, by a long way, overtaking the 3rd best? Yeah. Amazing! Alonso's Ferrari was so bad that day he barely clung on to 3rd. When Vettel is up against others in a title fight with equal machinery we'll see how he does. He needs to do better than his '10 for because even in the best car then he could hardly manage it. LOL!
@MrThreshold2009 That`s the usual argument.... Whatever Vettel does is meaningless cos he has the best car..... Alonso had the best car in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and did not achieve what Vettel has done. Thats the truth.
@frajalo Actually McLaren had the best car in '05 (for most of the year, anyway). And Ferrari in '06 - plus they had the backing of the FIA throughout placing weird penalties on Alonso. He didn't even have the best car last year and he almost won it.
Vettel's had the best car since '09. He fucked that year up, scraped to the title last year, and dominated this year. Well deserved but he does have the best car. By a long, long way. I mean, the Red Bull's a full second a lap faster at times.
@MrThreshold2009 In 2005, Mclaren had the fastest car, but Raikkonen lost a few wins because of reliability, same with Vettel in 2010. In 2009, the Brawn started the season with a dominant lead, and it wasn't until much later in the season the Red Bull were truly the fastest.
@ohargreaves Vettel lost a few wins due to the car failing, yes, but he also fucked up way to often. SIlverstone, Hungary, Germany, Spa etc. He can only win if he's on pole and then blasting away. And the same goes for '09 - he shoudl have won the first race in Melbourne, and Turkey. He had the best car for 70% of the season. Wasted it. As did Webber, of course
The feeling in the paddock is that Raikkonen's overly aggresive driving style brought about the constant failures in '05.
@MrThreshold2009 - How on earth was red bull the best car in 2009? Brawn had more wins, finished 1-3 in the championship while RBR finished 2-4. Brawn won 6 of the first 7 races. In the 2nd half of the year the red bulls were crap in valencia, spa, and monza while apart from hungary brawn remained consistently at the front of the pack.
@Anime998877 Actually look at the facts. The Brawn's double-diffuser allowed them steal an advantage and have the best car; there was an FIA investigation into it to see if it was legal. Once it was declared everyone else took it on and this jumped Red Bull ahead of everyone. They didn't enjoy the same margin of superiority they have now but it was an advantage all the same. To say otherwise is to ignore facts.
@MrThreshold2009 - Ignore the facts? What the hell? I'm the one who gave the facts. You're the one who's ignoring them. Yes brawn had an advantage cause of the DD. After red bull developed their own DD in the 2nd half they became a match for brawn. But even in the 2nd half of the season with the double diffusers the red bulls were utter crap in valencia, spa, and monza while brawn only had one moment in all of 2009 that they were drastically off the pace. Brawn was the better car overall.
@Shogo5000 What happened in 2007 when Alonso was driving in the same team with Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton was faster and Alonso's ego couldn't stand it. Alonso is a over-rated fuck. He cannot be in the same team with fast team-mate because he wants to be the number 1, and can't have it because he's not faster. Alonso's reputation has gone because of these ''This is ridiculous'' type of things. Vettel and Hamilton are the best drivers and that's the end of the story.
Alonso is an arrogant arse, at his scene he almost pushed vettel onto green and forced him to crash. He´s not a sportsman, thats why he hates everyone and half of the drivers hate him and thats why he has beef with other drives all the time. He´s a madman.
Pressure? When you have more than 90 points advantage, over your main rivals there´s no pressure what so ever, that´s why the same question remains for the majority of F1 fans. We´ve seen Hamilton doing these kind of overtakes time and time again whether he was 10 or just 1 point ahead of the competition. Can Sebastian Bieber do it when is really under pressure?? So far, he hasn´t proven yet.
@Euclides287 That's because Vettel has the composure, speed and consistency to build a 90 point advantage in the first place. That cancels out the need to do this when only 1 point ahead.
@ohargreaves You forgot to mention the main reason for his huge points advantage, THE CAR, which by the way, is light years faster than the rest! One can only wonder what would Hamilton and Alonso do with that RB7...
@Euclides287 The RB7 is the fastest, but not by "light years". If it was, Mark Webber would be winning or finishing second. You can't know much about F1 if you can't work out that Vettel is a top driver when he scored on his debut, took outstanding results (including a win) in the Toro Rosso and wins 11 races on the way to becoming a double world champion.
@ohargreaves He´s a top driver indeed but still not on the same level as Hamilton and Alonso. He´s yet to prove that he can overtake a top driver when he´s under pressure in the championship and also that he can win a championship without a dominant car, like Hamilton did in 2008 and Alonso in 2005 & 2006. Only then people will rate him as high as they rate Lewis and Fernando.
@Euclides287 While that is your opinion, which I respect, mine is that Vettel, on current form is on their level as he keeps getting the most out of his car, which is all anyone can ask for. Alonso is the only driver currently that I can claim has consistently done the same, while Hamilton has been beaten by Button this year, and has fallen in my estimations. While overtaking and handling pressure are good aspects to rate drivers on, they depend on whether you put yourself into those situations.
Talented I'll give him that, but I don't think he will ever go from last place to first whilst having to deal with penalties & punctures... in the wet! moral: good, but no Button... or Hamilton... or Alonso... or or even maybe Webber. Definitely better then Massa though muahahaha!

@webster12554 I never said Vettel's the best, I just said he's a freak. I too think Alonso is the best in f1 :) As for Kimi, well, I'll wait and see, he can be either the best or completely average!

But Alonso's overtake to Button in Brazil is more spectacle than this.

@GalaxyPowerTy That was a great move by Alonso on Button on Sunday.

You know you're amongst children when they think a F1 car has trouble going flat out through Curva Grande. ;)

Still the whining is going on? Vettel is clearly the best driver in F1 atm, and the haters will have a rough couple of years ahead. Carry on.

Vettel is better then Alonso. the year Vettel drove for Torro Rosso they outperformed RBR. which included a victory on Monza.

That's all....he didn't do anything of unbeliveble...he just overtook Alonso using what his car can do best....turns.
luctus93 3 months ago
@luctus93 thats because the red bull team set there cars up to be better on corners and lose a little bit of top speed on the main straights.
Sergeisoprano31 3 months ago 3
@Sergeisoprano31 No, it's because their floor produces so much downforce - it's inherent in the design, not setup
Wibbahh 3 months ago
@luctus93 That turn, Curva Grande is actually taken full throttle by all F1 cars.

But in fact: No one else would have tried such a maneuver like this... except Vettel....

Bstyler80 3 months ago
@luctus93 I'm pretty sure they usually don't go through Curva Grande at the car's limit of traction (cause I know it from racing simulator games like GTR2). The reason they drive the biggest radius is to minimize friction in order to use the tyres' grip for acceleration and not because they wouldn't pass it otherwise. So every car should have been able to take the turn in a "worse" radius. The bravery and car control (not losing the car in the dirt at that speed) show Vettel's skill here.

4evermassa 3 months ago
there r some stupid comments on here, the fact is red bull have designed and created a very good race car for there drivers, but they still have to go out and perform in that car. vettel is showing how good the car is but if look at webbers season stats you would think he was in a slow car. so its 50% car and 50% driver skill

LOL!
MrThreshold2009 3 months ago
@MrThreshold2009 That`s the usual argument.... Whatever Vettel does is meaningless cos he has the best car..... Alonso had the best car in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and did not achieve what Vettel has done. Thats the truth.
frajalo 3 months ago 4
@frajalo Actually McLaren had the best car in '05 (for most of the year, anyway). And Ferrari in '06 - plus they had the backing of the FIA throughout placing weird penalties on Alonso. He didn't even have the best car last year and he almost won it.
Vettel's had the best car since '09. He fucked that year up, scraped to the title last year, and dominated this year. Well deserved but he does have the best car. By a long, long way. I mean, the Red Bull's a full second a lap faster at times.
MrThreshold2009 3 months ago
@MrThreshold2009 In 2005, Mclaren had the fastest car, but Raikkonen lost a few wins because of reliability, same with Vettel in 2010. In 2009, the Brawn started the season with a dominant lead, and it wasn't until much later in the season the Red Bull were truly the fastest.
ohargreaves 3 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@ohargreaves Vettel lost a few wins due to the car failing, yes, but he also fucked up way to often.
MrThreshold2009 3 months ago
@MrThreshold2009 - How on earth was red bull the best car in 2009? Brawn had more wins, finished 1-3 in the championship while RBR finished 2-4. Brawn won 6 of the first 7 races. In the 2nd half of the year the red bulls were crap in valencia, spa, and monza while apart from hungary brawn remained consistently at the front of the pack.
Anime998877 3 months ago 4
@Anime998877 Actually look at the facts. The Brawn's double-diffuser allowed them steal an advantage and have the best car; there was an FIA investigation into it to see if it was legal. Once it was declared everyone else took it on and this jumped Red Bull ahead of everyone. They didn't enjoy the same margin of superiority they have now but it was an advantage all the same. To say otherwise is to ignore facts.
MrThreshold2009 3 months ago

Euclides287 3 months ago
@Euclides287 That's because Vettel has the composure, speed and consistency to build a 90 point advantage in the first place. That cancels out the need to do this when only 1 point ahead.
ohargreaves 3 months ago
@ohargreaves You forgot to mention the main reason for his huge points advantage, THE CAR, which by the way, is light years faster than the rest! One can only wonder what would Hamilton and Alonso do with that RB7...
Euclides287 3 months ago
@Euclides287 The RB7 is the fastest, but not by "light years". If it was, Mark Webber would be winning or finishing second. You can't know much about F1 if you can't work out that Vettel is a top driver when he scored on his debut, took outstanding results (including a win) in the Toro Rosso and wins 11 races on the way to becoming a double world champion.
ohargreaves 3 months ago
@ohargreaves He´s a top driver indeed but still not on the same level as Hamilton and Alonso. He´s yet to prove that he can overtake a top driver when he´s under pressure in the championship and also that he can win a championship without a dominant car, like Hamilton did in 2008 and Alonso in 2005 & 2006. Only then people will rate him as high as they rate Lewis and Fernando.
Euclides287 3 months ago
@Euclides287 While that is your opinion, which I respect, mine is that Vettel, on current form is on their level as he keeps getting the most out of his car, which is all anyone can ask for. Alonso is the only driver currently that I can claim has consistently done the same, while Hamilton has been beaten by Button this year, and has fallen in my estimations. While overtaking and handling pressure are good aspects to rate drivers on, they depend on whether you put yourself into those situations.
