  • v engines roar and inline engines make same "spectacular" noises as my vacuum cleaner :)

  • Not low enough, and too shiny.

  • Where did you get the rims?

  • OUTSTANDING job on the conversion!! I am currently enjoying my Porsche 944LSX and seeing the benefits of the swap. I have supercar performance at an affordable price. I love running in the top 3rd at autocross events competing against 911s, Caymans and other big buck cars

  • Congrats

  • Thats no way to treat a lady! she is beautiful, drive her that way :) great looking ride.

  • keep pressing 9

  • SEARCH ON GOOGLE: Mission Against Terror

I swear it will be worth it if you like PC gaming.

  • that is one CLEEEAANN Z

  • for all the people saying "well you could have put a mean 4 cylinder in it"... you could have... but for $12,000 less you can pull one out of a junk monte carlo, and get just as much power, and it will crank, no matter how bad you beat on it...

  • Typical americans putting slow V8`s in everything, the l28 twin turbo would have given you over 600hsp even with e85 you can go over 650 horsepower easily. I have a 240z twin turbo l28 so i know what i`m saying.

  • @slyzxx1 Where is the video? I want to see it!

  • @kdgraben wered you get the mounts and everything at? looking to buy a z and doing the same thing.

  • @kdgraben whether there is a video or not 600hp is easily achieved with the l28 especially if you bore it out to an l30. i hate when ppl put v8's in impots that do not need them. almost every import is capable of putting out mass number with mods and when you put those heavy v8's in them you throw off the weight balance so ur car wont turn for shit which is what imports were made for. keep your v8's in cars that were made to go in a straight line.

  • @kloozyful the LS1 engine actually weighs less than the I28 genius. Please send me some video of an I28 on the dyno with 600hp? What do you drive? Back up your stupid comments with experience.

  • @slyzxx1

There's no proof that you even own a car. I question your knowledge on engines. And I'm sorry but do you have any idea how expensive it would be to get your "650hp" out of an I28 engine? Do you know the process? In order to accommodate a turbo? First you need special pistons, heavier duty connecting rods and a crank. New cam, etc. Not to mention the tuning requires a specialist who knows what to do. LS1's are inexpensive, easy to find, and you can get great performance out of them.

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD There is no proof that you are are real internet troll. You talk about the Nurburgring track times with the zo6 seriously... 11th GTR would have beat that track day if it did not have a wet lap, Porsche 911 GT2 RS another wet lap both would have decimated that laptime if not having being on wet laps. I`m not gonna argue with you but the last time i checked the ZO6 didn`t have an ls1... It`s disgracefull to put LS engines in a perfectly well built japanese car when u get 800 hsp

  • @slyzxx1

oh last time I check the ZR1 Corvette spanked the shit out 99% of imports in the Nurburgring. It finished 9th at a time of (7.19.63) the Zo6 finished 11th (7.22.68) yeah it beat just about everything on the Japanese and European market, with the Exception of the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package, Porsche 911 GT2 RS and that's about it. Keep in mind those two cars are worth about 3x more than a ZR1 and about 4x more than Z06. Don't diss the LS series engines.

  • ahhh typical foreigners not knowing shit lol. the ls1 is used in more than a few British sports cars the ls7 c6r has shit on everyone in the gt races so much they made them add weight to the car to make it more fair lol slow? let me see one of formula D top drivers that runs a skyline runs a ls1 in his car its lighter than your 240sx motors. the koenigsegg super car that took the speed record from the Bugatti originally had a ford v8 but now builds them in house using a ford design slow huh lol

  • @slyzxx1 your gay shut up

  • @slyzxx1 Apparently some people don't realize that the LS series of motors put out a LOT of very reliable power with decent gas mileage, while also being lighter (if aluminum) AND giving a better weight distribution because of the more compact size. I don't know what these "slow V8's" slyzxx1 is talking about are. I imagine the torque curve for a 650hp LS1 is MUCHHHH smoother and flatter than for an L28 twin turbo. There's nothing wrong with an L28... but get your facts straight.

  • @slyzxx1 More like "typical Americans putting a dirt cheap, light, reliable, relatively fuel efficient block with HUGE aftermarket support and ready-to-install kits readily available in everything". Forgetting the sound and feel of a V8, your argument is completely moot because they could put the same turbo system on an LS block and make more power than any 6 cylinder could hope for. Big displacement > small displacement, every single time. It's simple math anybody should be able to grasp.

  • @slyzxx1 v8 is so fucking cool engine compared to little peace of japanece shit.

  • @DaKattila

Just from that message i can tell you have no knowledge what so ever on cars...

  • i must say.. one of the best 280's ive seen... and i've been stalking them a while now... good job team... good job

  • Awesome Z!!!!

  • Where did u buy your front bumper?

  • What the hell makes anyone be so stupid that they take out the perfectly good datsun engin and pun in a 2001 transam v8. What heavy shit where they smoking?

    ASSHOLES!!!!!!

  • looks great but you should've just built a stroker.. like a 3.1 or a 3.2... the v8 kinda ruins it for me

  • @snowboardman19 so he shoulda spent 10 grand to build a proper stroker and only gain about 100 HP when he could just swap in a perfectly good newer and more powerful engine for half. HMMM! I sense logic fail.

  • Does anyone else ever get sick of all these people knocking a car that doesn't have the original motor...or at least a motor made by the original manufacturer of the car? Who gives a shit what the guy does with his car? It's his damn car. Most of these guys are probably 15 year old kids w/o cars anyways. For all I care he could have put a Ford Pinto engine in the thing...do what floats your own boat.

  • this is no 280zx

  • @floreageorge2005 Who said it was a 280ZX?

  • @floreageorge2005 don't you know the difference between an ...Z and a ZX?

  • @DOCSAFETUBE sorry man for this

  • @CoyoteInternational He could just slap on a rear bumper if that's what's causing you to spazz out.

  • I have a vintage stock 77 280 Z. The only changes are the paint it's red, the wheels are after market and there's a kick ass sound system. I've own the car for 32 yrs. The job you did is fantastic, Id like to see more of the body changes. One of the coolest Zs out there man.

  • rofl locked the brakes up and the car kept going forward. someone needs a bigger brake system to tame that engine.

keep up the improvements. just because the engine's different, doesn't mean it's not still a Z at heart

  • to be honest i like the engine cause it wouldnt go as fast if it had the original engine.

  • im going to point out the fact that your the biggest gay cunt for putting a v8 in such a classic car

  • @DRIFTINGxHOONSxNZxAU Gay cunt? lol Any car can benefit from classic American MUSCLE! Ahhhhh!

  • @kdgraben pretty sure your high bro the ls1 was made in aus and is not classic american muscle and why would you put a v8 in a Z in the first place? compensating for some thing maybe?

  • @DRIFTINGxHOONSxNZxAU Uh, wrong? LS1 is an american designed engine that was built in either Canada or the USA... Australia's holden uses and modifies our engines and puts them into some pretty badass cars though. The GTO for example (aka monaro) is a great combination of power and handling.

  • @DRIFTINGxHOONSxNZxAU lmfao, are you serious? you do realize that the ls1 is a 3rd gen CHEVY small block, right? last time i checked, chevy was part of gm, which is an american company

  • @DRIFTINGxHOONSxNZxAU Who's dick have you been smoking LS1's ARE AMERICAN MADE ENGINES! Holden IMPORTS ALL of their ls engines from the states you knob head.

  • @kdgraben he has a point its a japanese car to begin with so why put a v8 . you might as well get a 2001 firebird trans am.

  • @DragonInfraXtremeRGT "you might as well get a 2001 firebird trans am."

Except that they are hideous, when z cars are beautiful.

  • @ChaseKittens Indeed, and no doubt this Z is a lot lighter too!! I love Z's I have just got a 2010 370Z 7AT and really love driving it :D

  • @kdgraben american muscle? i think you mean american obesity!.... you're probably just like your cars engine; unreliable, over-sized, and really bad on fuel. shame on you for defiling such a gorgeous machine with shit you call an engine. No wonder american cars last only a max of five years, but a Japanese or European car will last you a lifetime (if your not a dick and replace the engine with a piece of shit).

  • @UsernameStillPending The LS1 is a light weight, high horsepower replacement for the stock Datsun engine. What have you done with your car? This is a lot more fun to drive than a Toyota Corolla.

  • Omg that car looks SO FUCKEN SEXY

  • i cant comment on this video because everytime i watch it i have to go and change my boxers

  • hi, so I just bought myself a 240z and its all rusty and stuff. im looking into doing a project. I just have one question: where can you get that lowered front lip/fender? thanks

  • who ever did da body work on it did a good job i my self is workin on one but my injecters gives up dey dont do a good contact n well other dan dat its all good but its been really hard 2 find the frond grill an bumber..

  • that 280 is badass, the color is awesome. nice car!

  • THOSE WHEELS ALMOST WENT AIRBORNE

  • S30z......... Y U NO AT WANGAN?!

  • cool color sweet rims badass engine. Hey I'm wondering does it have traction issue?

  • Very nice! The Nissan Z was my first choice for an LS1, but I decided to go with an older Camaro.

  • awesome! reminds me of the devil z!

  • @DrYiCe34 yeah, u think this reminds you of the devil z ? The color yes, but the motor no, this i a ls1,,,why dont you take that L28 put it twin turbo ? Now your talking :)

  • put a Porsche V6 engine in it not a V8 of a truck

  • @mkampinga and an Ls1 is not a V8 of a truck either. ALL LS1's start life in Corvettes FIRST. it's not till after that they get delved out to other vehicles.

  • Congrats awesome car..

  • Awesome job on the car....beautiful, these are my favorite cars!!

  • how much does something like that cost ... it makes me drule

  • At least in the near 50 years American companies will start to decay because they will start using electric cars and because SOME Americans just can't control their emissions.

  • heart ripped out by a fake quack.

  • bad ass car! man when i get to 25 ima buy me one of the bad boys =]

  • READY TO FACE BLACKBIRD!

    GET EM TIGER! ;)

    lol beautiful car bro! :)

  • Devil Z

  • The car looks great, but I've really got to say, this swap is so over done. Granted, there's not a whole lot of more interesting swaps that can be done without it being too difficult, but to each his own, I guess. I just get so bored of seeing the same old LSx swaps in Datsuns, ruining the poor car.

  • Devil Z got its heart replaced, and a face lift

  • don't do anything stupid with it

    well the car

I don't care about the engine

  • building one with lt1 383 stroker kicking 680hp and 720tqr got a eagle crank and 8140 rods with arp bolts through out top and bottom end and top end is 400hp angle plug aluminum heads with 1.95/1.58 valves and now have comp cam 680pressure tripple springs and 1.7 roller tip and full roller comp cam rocker arms the cam is the 306 with the .504in and .564exst left but i am running 1/4 longer 3/8 one piece push rods so lift is about .754in abd .804exst lol!!!!!!!!

  • nice i had a 81 280zx turbo car i was kicking around 450 hp..

  • beautiful/powerful z.

Did you have to install the smog stuff from the TransAm since your z is a 77?

  • Nice car! I have a pretty nice z also, check it out at my channel.

  • 3.5 thats almost less than 10 hp per 100cc's thats shit.....my damn 1.8turbo gives me arround 320hp at 24psi

  • too fuckin cool. love the way it sounds. I have a RB26DETT in mine. I dont use it any more. i love it too much.

  • screw the LS1 !!! how bot a superchargerd LS9 that will get the job done at almost 600 ponies and 650 ft lbs

  • yo im 17 and im looking for a good car that i can start putting money into. a car really cheap like 5k or under. i want to know whats special about this car. do u think this datsun car would be good? all i really want in a car is power and control, nuthing else.

  • That is a 240Z. 280's are longer, and have a larger rear deck, and the headlight area's are also longer

  • @HotCheck2 you are thinking in the 280zx

240z and 280z are the same, but originally the 280z had some "bumpers" and weighted a couple hundred pounds more

  • @HotCheck2 The 240z and the 280z are exactly the same length use the same hatch and the headlight buckets are also EXACTLY the same. The ONLY real difference between the bodies of a 240 and a 280 are the bumpers the taillights and the blinkers.

  • Great looking car. Congratulations. What size tires are those and are those real minilites? I'd like a set.

  • Beautiful restoration!!

  • beautiful

  • sweet z. but my friend... a car project is NEVER done ;)

  • THE DEVIL Z HAS BEEN AWAKEN 1'S AGAIN!!!

    :O

  • 0:22, CUMS hahaha

  • ls1 from a trans am? i thought they used LT1 and corvette had ls1 basicly same engine but differnt name

  • @pacman552sd1 Incorrect; the LS1 is an all aluminum block and heads, while the LT1 was a cast block w/ aluminum heads. The LT1 was utilized in both the vette and firebird / camaro from 1992-1996, with the vette getting higher-performance heads. The LS1 was utilzed from 1997-2002 in all three models, with the vette also receiving the same motor with higher-performance heads.

  • figured you are from Ohio by license plate. do you happen to have L28 motor laying around still? i spotted parts car in this clip too..

  • Did you have the stock Z rear end? I put a 350 chev. in my 1979 280zx and on the track, it only spun one tire. I should have put a turbo rear end in it, I suppose.

  • i bet its hard to control.

  • oh and taillights custom or off a different z

  • what type of front bumper is it stock? and what blue is that?

  • very nice

  • unbelievable. Took the best of vintage Japanese style and engineering and intertwined it with V8 American Muscle. unbelievable. I would buy that car in a heart beat.

  • Nice body. Needs a 5.0 in it. Those inline 6s just can't get it done.

  • @TheCottonTop u better check out RIPS Z if u think inlines cant do it!

  • beautiful

  • I don't understand the L Series love, even from Datsun purists. Datsun engines were utter pieces of sh*t. The LS1 is the best thing that ever happened to this particular Z.

  • @aegisforex Datsun L Series "peices of shit??" I've never seen one blow up....I have a 71 original L24 260,000 miles and yet no rebuild. Granted it has been taken care of and only had two owners (me included the other, my grandfather)but no Datsun OHC engine to my knowledge has ever had any problems other than with SU carbs. I'm not saying putting a ls1 in a Datsun isn't awesome but I'm planning to rebuild my L24 to specs of Paul Newmans race car.

  • datsun called, it said it wanted its engine back.

  • @TeginProgress, more like Chevy called and they want their LS1 back. ha ha

  • @kdgraben That is fucking AWESOME!

  • @kdgraben What needs to be done to fit that engine in there? I thought of doing an engine swap on my 280z and I like your engine choice ;)

  • @kdgraben are those watanabe rs rims

  • @kdgraben You have a great car there, 280z has always been my favourite, and you're midnight blue paintjob just outdid it. Great work.

  • @TeginProgress Chuck Norris called he said to STFU.

  • beautiful

  • Man car looks awesome, hate the engine. Why would you take the l28 out?

  • The answer is very simple, 350 hp and 365 lb·ft in a car that weighs 1,900 Pounds. Any questions?

  • @kdgraben ARE YOU KIDDING ME? that car weighs 1900lbs? are you sure of that, cause if so, im crushing my camaro, and dropping the 383 in one of those.

  • @kdgraben Yeah, why not just turbo the L28 and throw a cam in it?

  • @brapboys503 Because you still wouldn't be making anywhere close to the same Horsepower.

  • @kdgraben 280z doesn't weight 1900 pounds. More like 2600+

  • @dohc1974 Your right....2675 to be exact.

  • @kdgraben That is true.

  • @kdgraben you are right sir but the 350 engine is a bit heavier than the durable slow L28..you can boost her and have a ton of torque and horsepower..i had a t51r kai turbo setup on mine and notice a huge jump in torque and horsepower

  • @kdgraben typo LS1 is a bit heavier than the L28

  • @watchthisrobotmove

L28 complete with stock manifolds, injectors, water pump, and A/C compressor =430 lbs

LS1 complete with the same config above = 400-430

  • @kdgraben

    240zs weigh roughly 2100 lbs, 280zs weigh about 2800

  • @kdgraben Yes. You could use L28ET or stroke it to 3.1... it will be still Japan car

  • @kdgraben, yeah, id go with an rb or sr20. stay true to the make. people dont put import motors in domestic cars.

  • @kdgraben if it weighs 1900 pounds where did you lose that 500 pounds at? also concidering you took out a small motor and put in one that weights about 200 pounds more.

  • @kdgraben lol, you motor head!

  • @scl8114515

haha thats a dumb question...seriously why would you hate one of the most common, most reliable american engines built? the I6 was a good engine, but NOTHING compared to a smallblock chevy.

  • lol looked like it was going hella slow

  • sexy ass car right there

  • LOL i didnt even read the description.. stupid new youtube layout!

Whats the weight distribution and curb weight? Is that lighter than a VQ35DE? o:

  • @XenoRacing The VQ35DE is lighter than the LS1. The LS1 is an all aluminum V8 engine used in GM products.

  • @kdgraben lol sorry i meant like the whole thing tranny, ecu, mounts etc :p

  • @kdgraben

    Mainly corevettes right?

  • i bet they ate lunch off it lol.. so clean looking

  • that is one lovely machine :)

  • so do datsuns not have the passenger mirror? i got use to using it so i dont have to turn around to get over. guess ill just use the rear view.

  • @khalilasbro IT depends on the year but the majority of all datsuns have passenger mirrors.

  • @thebluemaggot 1977? mines dont have one. but im selling it so o well

  • @khalilasbro 1977 should definitely have a passenger mirror, sounds like somebody took yours off.

  • @thebluemaggot sigh, sad.

  • 3 years since the post of this video. hows the car doing now? update vid please haha any new mods?

  • That wasn't too unbelievable at all...but I like it!

  • Thanx

  • How much was it to do the swap?

  • @Brendon00000 The mounting kit is about $1,100. Add in the LS1 engine, 6 speed transmission, rear end, computer and radiator comes to around $8,000.

  • @kdgraben Nice car, can i ask who sells the Mounting kit? Thanks.

  • What kind of transmission would you recommend?

  • @Davey027 The 6 speed manual, no other choice!

  • @kdgraben waste of money. a rb would cost half that to put in a datsun and would be a lot more fun! These LS1's think they can make there way into anything these days. really quite sad!

  • @mkIIIsupras "waste of money. a rb would cost half that to put in a datsun"

BULL SHIT! An LS1 and an RB with trany wiring and ECM Would BOTH cost almost the same. the difference is the LS1 has Kit's for it that make the swap COMPLETELY bolt in. With the RB you are looking at 2-4,000 on Labor alone for modified and custom mounts Just to get the the thing to fit. and LEts not forget parts. LS parts can be Bought at autozone. RB parts have to be shipped all the way from Japan.

  • @Brendon00000 About $9,500 including engine and transmission.

  • Beautiful.

  • i think this was a 280zx?

  • @tscurlyninja, are you nuts?

  • @kdgraben well the body looks different?

  • Fat redneck in a wife beater driving.

  • how did you remove the big bumpers

  • The front is a fiberglass replacement nose and the rear was removed and the mounting holes were covered.

The mounting points are the same for all Z cars so you can mix and match 240, 260 and 280 style bumpers.

  • meh i dont like the front spoiler and it sounds like a v8 bleh so common.

  • i would take this over a corvette.. everyone has a vet!

  • @teofthe Vette's are performance Gods, but they are rather bland. Not ugly but not pretty either. I too would take this over a Vette. Actually I do have this ( in the making at least)

  • Joshoelray. Here's a tip for your project, keep it Nissan . You can still get these massive power gains with an engine made by the same company! You could stroke a 2.8l engine or just put a skyline gtr engine in if you want to go REALLY fast and travel back in time! Lol

  • SKyline GTR engine's and Transmissions add over 150 Pounds the the car. They are heavy clumsy high maintenance and expensive. He not only saved money but time and weight as well as saved himself from a series of chronic headaches!

  • You will never get close to generating the same amount of torque that the LS1 puts out.

  • @kdgraben yea but u could with a vh45de

  • Thats pretty bad-assed! I would have gone with one of nissans newer RB's over a v-8, though. Just seems taboo putting a trans-am motor in a datsun to me.

  • dude that is beautifull...i am so far from that feeling.. i mean ... my z prject is just getting started i got a 71 240z and right now its just straight out shitty...it would be xool if u could give me some tips and stuff u know

  • @joshoelrey first tip. keep the inline! There isnt enough datsuns left to be putting camaro engines in them.

  • instant nutt hahaha

damm whip lash the passenger hahha

    nice build

  • u make this too look like the Devil Z? great job on the car!

  • Me and my dad are supposed to build a 76 camaro and im only 12 so i get to keep it when i could drive

  • love it man im just about to do one up for my first car. been looking at either a 260 or a 280 either one would be great but noticed that the 260 had alot less plastic shit than the 280 which is nice.

  • what do they call those style of wheels

  • They are Konig Rewinds. You can pick them up cheap at Discount Tire.
