  • I'm trying to find if there's any footage of Boxcars session he did for Border TV in England back in 78/79 , our band "Threewheel" backed him on that tour, fantastic memories,,

  • I am a Reggae recording artist and I tell ya, I love Boxcar Willie

God bless ya to heaven Willie

  • I was at the Grand Ole Opry for his final appearance. God Bless you Boxcar Willie You where and always will be number 1 in my books!

  • Supurb Thanks for Shareing this wonderful classic video

    :)

  • I can't believe it, I just bought Boxcar's Gibson J-45 that he used on stage and TV and also the Grand Ole Opry. I also got 2 of his hats complete with all the pins in them. Also his guitar case with all the railroad stickers, One of his railroad costumes that he used on TV and stage. I got it from his son Larry. I can't tell ya how thrilled I am.My 12 year old son is also thrilled, knowing that someday it will be his, as well it should, he plays way better than me.

  • @briangg57 If you're serious, you should take some photos and make a website so we can see this stuff as part of a virtual online Boxcar Willie museum.

  • He used to hang out in downtown Red Oak, Texas before he got famous. My mom says he used to give her a hard time when she was a kid growing up in Red Oak. Sure wish I could have met him.

  • I remember him having a house in Eustace. I wonder if this was done in Red Oak?

  • no he was us army

  • No, he was Air Force. From his website's bio:

Lecil joined the United States Air Force in may of 1949 and became a pilot, he trained on the B-36 bomber.

His place near Canton was just down the road from my wife's family house...it was kind of a kick to pass it when visiting. Wish I could have met him.

  • Whatever happened to his place. It was in Eustace right? I moved away from there a couple of years ago

  • Box was living near Canton, Texas, at this time and appearing on a Dallas TV Show. He was younger then. It was in the 70's. Berni-sing.

  • Wow. Thanks. This is more than I could ever want. I was just looking for some Boxcar Willie, I didn't think I would hit the jackpot. I seen him in Branson when I was 12. He was very nice and signed for guests after the show. I got to play the telecaster. Thanks for the video that is rare.
