  • Your best bet for a better N64 controller is the HORI Mini Pad 64. It was made by the Hori company and uses the prototype Nintendo Dolphin (old gamecube) joystick. It's the same as the gamecube joystick we all know and love except slightly larger. These controllers were so good they were actually officially licensed and endorsed by nintendo, so they have their seal of quality and their name on them as well as Hori's. They were only released in japan and you can find them on eBay. I got 2 of them

  • @F0nkyNinja i was planning on getting one of those but the ones i found cost the equivalent of 88dollars with shipment to get here...

  • the heliohost site is dead... any chance any more info on this was uploaded elsewhere?

  • I WILL HAVE YOUR CONTROLLER!!!!

  • The n64 joystick was both a revolution and a piece of crap at the same lol

  • i can't stand the n64 controller, wish they had've built one with more of a playstation design, much easier to use.

  • GOLDENEYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm interested in buying that kind of controler too. If you are going to sell those kind of N64 controler, how much will it be?? Is making something like this expensive??

  • Nice music (:

  • hiii

    amm the page is dawn.

show me how to make this, pls!!!!1 :D

  • ultimate fix

  • That is pretty sweet. I really don't have much of a problem with the n64 analog stick though.

  • nice vid man☆

  • give the camera to person not a fucking monkey!

  • how to vid PLS!

  • thanks for the controllers with the wii joysticks, just came in the mail today and posted a video review of them

  • This is awesome.

  • Make a tutorial vid

  • I actually just purchased both of these on ebay since they look great! I plan on reviewing them when they arrive and posting the review on AtariAge and perhaps making a video here. This is a much needed upgrade to the controller. When they were new, they worked great, but now it seems almost all of the controllers I come across are very loose and play like garbage. I can imagine they will ALL be bad in another 10 or so years, and we'll be looking at another Atari 5200 joystick issue.

  • Make a how to vid

  • thats epic do you sell these i'd buy one 40bucks

  • man thats is what i call overcoming adversity !! respect due

  • You have to post the GC one!

  • not that hard to make so don't shit urself about making it. D:<

  • Buen trabajo, seria bueno un tutorial de ello

  • why did you waste all that money importing a psx controler from japan just to hack it into an n64 controler and the ps1 is NOT the psx, check gamester81 or lukemores one they show what a psx actualy is only gamerse81's psx does work and lukemorse1 is fixing a few.

  • @killdoser666

I'm sick of people saying this. Believe it or not, there was a time when there was no such thing as a PS2 (or a "proper" PSX), so there was no such thing as a PS1. Before release, the Playstation was called the "PSX," and thus people continued to call it that. When the PSone came out, some people started calling it that, while others stuck to PSX. Besides, the PSX is just a PS2 with a built in HDD and (mostly useless) DVR, so it's hardly worth making the distinction.

  • @akumacornflakes it is a good mod but i was beind a dickhead that day and sorry if actualy pissed you off just ignor me

  • I'm concerned: 3rd-party controllers allow the range that slightly exceeds that of an pad. In Mario Kart 64, it causes you to randomly spin out like you'd hit a banana. Also, hazards that normally cause this (nuts, bats) are MUCH more likely to. Some pads oversteer so severely that walking characters in Blast Corps will walk BACKWARD.

Even Nintendo's own VC version of Mario Kart 64 does this with the Classic Controller and GC controller.

  • ...and because the precise optical mechanism in the N64 controller limited range mechanically (not electrically), it would be hard to precisely reproduce the correct range with a semiconductor-based stick.

  • Can you please post a tutorial? Every first party N64 controller eventually loses its tight analog control, so to know how to do this would be awesome!

  • cool.

  • hey i was wondering if i could get a premade joystick with the chip in it and everything with the connectors to hook it up to the controllers board. so then i could mount every thing myself. what i wana use is a spare psp stick i have laying around

  • You really should sell these, you won earn lots of money!

  • Comment removed

  • If you decide to sell these things on eBay, I'm interested for sure! :)

  • me too iv wanted one like that

  • Cool mod, but I always found the Dualshock analog sticks to be a lot more sensitive than the 64 controller. It will no doubt last longer, but I still don't think it's a good alternative to an actual working N64 controller.

  • tutorial plz

  • when you put a video like this up its just asking to get rammed with comments asking for a tutorial

  • I keep getting emails about this. I do plan on making a tutorial/selling some of these but I just haven't had a chance yet as I've been very busy lately. It has changed quite a bit since this video and uses a Gamecube stick so it has the octagonal gate. Much better this way.

  • link us a pic of it!

  • @kylejw11 dude dont sell, share! make a tutorial plz this is a good mod

  • @kylejw11 Be great if you could show how, I wanted to put a Gamecube stick in my N64 controller but have no clue how. The octagonal gate would indeed be better than the Circular one the PS controllers have.

  • @kylejw11 You really need an eBay store, I'd pay a good amount of money for an N64 controller that uses a GameCube joystick.

  • @SmashingExpress I don't make them with gamecube sticks as they are too hard to find. I use Wii Classic Pro sticks instead which I think are the same component, just with a different plastic stick on top. Message me about buying one of those, I should have one up on ebay tonight/tomorrow.

  • @kylejw11 I'd buy one too. How much do they cost?

  • @kylejw11 dude seriously, plz the link to the website doesn't work, i want a controller like this REALLY bad, i'd like to have one with a wii stick, plz make a tutorial or start selling these things plz

  • @SmashingExpress The gamecube joistick is almost the same as the N64 one. So it would be useless.

  • @reggiardito LMFAO what? the gamecube stick is WAY different than the N64 stick, wtf are you talking about

  • @Trevor1182 They're almost the same.

  • @reggiardito WTF NO they are NOT, only thing that is "slightly" similar is that they have 2 rings on top of them, the way they are build and manufactured are TOTALLY different, the reason why there are fixes like this is because the N64 stick gets worn out really fast, the gamecube stick doesn't have this, AT ALL, it doesn't work with springs or cogwheels like the N64, so please educate yourself on the subject here before you start saying that "its pointless to use a gamecube stick for the fix"

  • @Trevor1182 Alright.

  • @reggiardito yeah i mean, sorry no offense but its true, btw did you even know that the n64 control stick isn't "truly" analogue?

  • @kylejw11 dude plz make a vid on how to do this

  • dude make a tutorial on how to do this i want to pwn my friends in smash bros dammt

  • Clever! Bur how you do that? How do you know about that?

  • That's cool but it doesn't have the precision as a new original N64 analog stick. Still a cool mod though.

  • upload a tutorial pls

  • Fail. Its more durable and not suck, but the precision... Not 1/4 of a original n64 stick.

  • i sell these

  • Where and how much?

  • i will buy it from you

  • Sweet

  • that's beautiful!

    how did you do that?

  • Genius! How did you do it? Cold you do a tutorial of how it's done. I know many people who are desperate to solve their analogue stick problem. Thanks!

  • You can build one other and show any stape plz o or i want the pic preprogemaming for conect psx analog plz!!!

  • Plz show me tutoral i have nintendo controler and i weant do that!!!! Pleaz i realy like nintendo 64 controler, plz. How mutch price....

  • A tutorial for this would be awesome. I've been looking for a good permanent N64 analog stick solution.

  • A tutorial for this would be awesome. I've been looking for a good permanent N64 analog stick solution.

  • Could you post a tutorial? Link wont run as fast as he should, and Rayman cant fly straight. Please help!

  • it's beautiful. The N64 stick always seemed to stiff to me. It also was prone to getting loosened.
