Regarding housing and jobs for Black Americans, the North wasn't much better than the South.

My church preacher says that women should never be in positions of leadership over men (all men including their husbands) in home, work or church. Several men are politicians in my church and no one cares that they say that America is falling like Rome because of tolerating homosexuality and abortion. I am disheartened. Mr. Wright's (I will not call him a reverend) sermon is dispicable. Senator Obama is not responsible for those words. However, it is 'chilling' to me to believe that, in 20 years, he did not know the character of his own minister. I no longer believe that I can vote for Senator Obama. One good thing about Obama being a serious presidential candidate is that the anti-American, anti-white inflammatory rhetoric that has gone too long without any real scrutiny in churches like this will hopefully diminish. African Americans that want to pursue a political life outside black demographics will now see that they can't be associated with it and expect it to be acceptable. For too long it has been a form of "acceptable racism" in a way, and it needs to stop in my opinion.

The Black Church has been the only place that Black people were allowed to congregate for many years. Dr. MLK was a preacher. The threat of Black Churches was so great in the 60's that it justified the bombing of the Baptist church (where the 3 girls died) by those racists. Hate is bad, but the "racism" attributed to Blacks is different from White racism, because Black people never had any power in society. White people have never been VICTIMS of racism or institutional humiliation in America.

As a matter of fact, Obama's remarks of the pastors insaine hate-speech appear to be just another politicians phoney attempt to look apologetic but instead makes him look disgraceful and rhetorical. Therefore, because of his own actions, I am highly doubtful about anything he says from here on out,i refuse to believe anymore lying politicians, and will be seeking a new candidate to vote for.

Oh, pleeeeezzzzze. Tell me you haven't disregarded statements from your own pastor. Tell me that you've agreed with every single thing he's ever said or done. Tell me you don't have a friend, co-worker, or uncle who you have an ongoing relationship with but whose political views differ radically from yours. We overlook the differences when possible and speak out against those we find too objectionable. But in the end, we love them anyway and disregard the stuff we can't use. Get a grip.

No, he has gone to great lengths to distance himself from Sharpton and Jackson. Sharpton has not even endorsed him. And he strongly denounced and rejected Farrakhan. It's ridiculous that in order to be viable as a presidential candidate, Obama is expected not to have any connections to the older generation of black leaders.

Now this is just MY HUMBLE OPINION (feel free to disagree) But, to say that Obama is a racist, & that he HATES whites/non-blacks and the US is to say that Obama hates himself. You have to remember his father was Kenyan and is mother? A white woman from Fort Leavenworth Kansas. I personally find it hard to believe that Obama would sit in a pew and agree with a message that bashes not only the country in which he was born in, but to also bash a part of his heritage. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Another thing, I'm a real fan of black preachers, and from what I've heard, Wright's comments were pretty standard (not very musical though, he's pretty substandard as a preacherman in my opinion).

I was not referring to any individual White person. LBJ signed the Voting Rights bill. Many many white people, old and young, marched and protested to allow Southern Blacks to vote. Our country IS controlled by rich White people. As inflammatory as Rev. Wright's comments are, there are many older Black Americans that have the same anger that he displayed. After all, the vote has only been guaranteed to Black Americans for the last 40 years, since 1965. We just saw the videos of the dogs and hoses in the South, during the commemoration of Dr. MLK's birthday. These events occurred during the lifetime of many of us. Regarding housing and jobs for Black Americans, the North wasn't much better than the South.

Some time ago, in a parish that was still predominately white but had some black membership, The Pastor said " I am tired of these people coming to my door begging for food and money. Wny don't they go back to Africa where they belong!" Although some may not have agreed with his remarks. He was welcome in most homes for Sunday dinner, he continued to Baptize babies and marry couples. People of both races continued to attend the church and allow him to hear their confessions.
