Thanks for the Trip down Memory Lane......I remember so many of those moments from Yankee Stadium......Even though the Players and Fans "Travel" to the New Stadium....let's Never forget the Sights and Sounds of Old Yankee Stadium....I'll Never forget flying over the Stadium in May of 1978.....there was a Night Game with Ron Guidry pitching a Shutout....and it was Lit Up like the Fourth of July.....What a Magnificent view.....the Pilot gave us an Aerial tour, Statue of Liberty, etal!
yo, Chairman, nice job. Used your upload on my fb "causes" page. BTW, saw Sinatra twice, once at the West Chester Premiere Theater in New York State. It went bankrupt soon after. The receipts got skimmed from that concert. It was the final nail in the coffin, hehehe
What a beautiful game baseball is. I would of loved to of attended any ballgame from 1920 - 1970. Back then the players played for the love of the good ole ballgame. Today, baseball is more of a business. While I am not a Yankee fan, I do agree with BillyMartin4life comment below,...New Yorkers should of tried to perserve old Yankee Stadium. Their was so much history made there.
Too bad Brooklyn couldn't get another team to the borough. Washington, D.C. use to have the Washing Senators, and they left. They were without baseball for 34 years, and now they have the Nationals there.
Don't ever play this song if you're watching video of any of the great old parks being torn down, especially old Comiskey. I tried, and well, it wasn't good. As for Dick Allen, best hitter in Chisox history (forget Thomas) and one of the top 10 talents to ever play the game. Unfortunately he was a bit of a blockhead as well, but I love him anyway. Great song.
Who ever sings this has a fantastic voice, style, and delivery. Not only does this singer capture the eesence of the song but also the spirit and tone of a better time and place.
@DickAllen4HOF That's ME, brother - thanks for the great review! Dick Allen was a great ballplayer indeed. Controversial? Maybe, but not so much compared to today's prima donna's ....HOF!
What the fuck is wrong with new York city with its long history of baseball and all these stadium is bull. Polo Grounds and Ebbets field are now apt, Shea is parking Hilltop is just a Gold home plate and Yankee Stadium is going to be a park with no heritage
I heard this song in a documentary by the name of "Brooklyn Dodgers: The Ghosts of Flatbush" and i fell in love with it. It's so emotional. Makes me wish i grew up in the late 40's and early 50's.
Yeah, I saw that on TV at the time - I just now watched HBO's 2005 documentary, "Mantle" - bittersweet but uplifting at the same time. Mick will be gone 15 years in August. R.I.P.
@soundslikefrank Channel surfing, I chanced upon an interview with Bobby Richardson on a religeous program. Richardson, in a most glowing tone of voice, could only speak praises about Mickey Mantle for the way he treated him and his teamates. Besides a .420 OB%, deadly clutch hitting, breathtaking power, speed and defence, reasons existed as to why, Mickey Mantle, played for more successful teams than any player in baseball history including Ruth. Enough
Such a Bittersweet Video.........I'm viewing this....a more appropriate song to say goodbye to Yankee Stadium might be.......Paul Simon's "Night Game" which he wrote after driving past Yankee Stadium in the middle of winter.......
"There were 2 men down, and the score was tied......in the bottom of the eighth, when the pitcher died...."
Actually, Tampa needs a new ballpark. And they need to get rid of that turf in Toronto. Astro-turf needs to be eliminated from all major league ballparks
i find this ironic since the bums made their fans wait more than 50 years before their first title (hence the nickname), whereas the mets took only 8 seasons.
Dodgers fan who appreciates history (I listen to Vin Scully every night) giving a quiet salute to a field I'll never get to see.
Hard to believe that old Dodger Stadium is now the third oldest after Fenway and Wrigley. And then again, it's still got that old-stadium ballpark feel.
I guess the Dodgers survived and had some great new chapters in Our Lady of Chavez Ravine... the Yankees will write new chapters in their new home.
@loyaldude10 well not any time soon. i heard the owner of the dodgers is planning renovations for the park. but as a dodger fan i kinda of hope we do get a new park cause our ballpark is pretty old and its not classic like fenway or wrigley so we need a new one. so im kinda 50/50 about a new park cause i still have all my memories in dodger stadium
My mom passed away last year, this was her favorite song, and her favorite team. Very touching. BTW.... She started woman's softball in our town in the 50's. She'd have loved this!!! Thank You!!
by the way for you ignorant yankee fans this song refers to the Brooklyn Dodgers. Know a little bit about the song before you go call it your own. This is why the yankees ruin baseball.
Gij is a Red Sox fan knowing full well the song is about the Dodgers. But since Ebetts Field isn't mentioned, it can apply to Yankee or Shea or even Shibe Park...dopey!!!
Yes, it was about the loss of places Like Ebbets Field, but since we have lost Shea, and soon Old Yankee Stadium, the song also applies to them as well.
Thanks, Hartmut - I feel badly that the Babe Ruth solo pix are blurry; The Yankees are just 1 out away from a 7-3 victory in their last game at The Stadium as I type this.
Grow up! All those baseball players wanted to do was to eat pussy and fart hot dogs.
Or is it eat hot dogs and fart pussy?
You figure it out, I have gas.

As much as I love this song, I never would have believed it would go together with the farewell of Yankee Stadium.
