Once again khursheed has created magic in this song. There is no flaw in this song. Her beauty and singing ability are matchless. She lived to be 87 years old and died in Karachi as mrs.bhai Mia.
I am a typical, undereducated white guy from the american mid-west, I know nothing of indian music or culture outside of what I've culled, self-educating, over the years, but some musical sequences I heard as a child struck me and I've sang and created my own music since inspired by those sounds I heard from the east... I found this video/song a few years ago when I began using the internet and I honestly say it makes me truly happy. it continues to inspire. thank you so much for your post.
with respect i request to remove the word Begum from title for two reasons. One, she was either known as khurshid or khurshid bano throughout her career and secondly Pak also had 2 singers by name of Khursheed Begum so the people may get misled. Thanx and keep up the gud work u r doing.
@lovehumanity Respected sir, I have corrected the error. Thank you very much for your guidance. I agree with you that she was called Khursheed Bano in her music/film career. Her original name was Irshad Begum.
Khursheed was the best female singer of the thirties and forties and probably up to today. She added a classical touch whenever allowed to do so, besides having great range, though she was seldom given the opportunity to show the high notes, probably due to mediocre composition of tunes.
I had been searching for this song for decades, I cant believe it I find it. I have heard Nayyara noor's version. Listening to original is so much more fun.
Nayyera Noor version of this song is also very excellent. It is really nice to see the singer performing as an actress in the film with Kundan Lal Saigal
