This is a wonderful move of President Kennedy. It is nice to know that he protected and upheld the rights of everyone, whether they be black or white. Yeah, that is right we should always examine ourselves before we try and criticize others. We should stop racism.
Any of you people that think change is coming you are wrong JFK was a last true President STOP supporting politicians people we will never have a good president ever again like John F Kennnedy any other politician after JFK has been a slap in the face of JFK for everthing he did for us
No one is flooding Japan with Non-Japanese and encouraging everyone to "mix".
No one is flooding Africa with Non-Africans and encouraging everyone to "mix".
Only citizens of White/European Countries like the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and all the countries in Europe are having this immigration forced on them.
This "assimilation" or blending is nothing more than an attempt to wipe out the White race. It's genocide.
Excellent Speach. The biggest failure of Kennedy was Mafia, Jimmy Hoffa and Union works. Public issues like that he refered to as a secret society. He could have been a great president but at the time Mafia and organized representation work or rights of all public was less of his effort. His response was ask not what you can do for your country but what you can do for it. A mistake was asking Vietnahm to do low end manual labor jobs. Black Americans was provided rights vietnam had less.
JFK's Civil Rights speech was one of the greatest speeches given by a president.
By classifying the issue as a moral issue, and asking the then majority to stand in the shoes of a Negro (term used prior to the later '60s) before they complain about Blacks moving to fast, he pushed America to come to terms w/it's own values..."and this country, for all it's hopes and all it's boasts, will not be truly free until all of it's citizens are truly free."
There was a clear break down in communication here between the Federal Government and the States. However, Kennedies over reach of the states this day is only as good as the good president in office, when the same over reach is available to criminals who usurp the office of president like we presently have, then this over reach is not at all good. So Wallace can be appreciated in many ways for standing in the way of the Federal Government that day.
It is my guess that Wallace did not get the memo. On June 4, 1963 Kennedy put forth EO11110, which was an attempt to strip the Federal Reserve of its power to loan money at interest. Then on June 11, 1963 he issued presidential proclamation 3542. Kennedy was attempting to put this country back together. My guess is Wallace did not get the memo on ED11110. Had Wallace understood what JFK was up to he would not have continued to be in the Federal governments way.way.
Kennedy stood up for what was right. Wallace stood up for the old Alabama electoral race card. Wallace would later claim he wasn't a rascist. What he didn't say was he was happy to play to that sentiment when it meant electoral advantage. Kennedy acted with principle. Wallace failed the test of leadership. He spent the rest of his life trying to pretend he was wasn't a bigot over his remarks about 'segregation for ever'.
Kennedy did beieve in Civil rights and gave the public government protection in which it should be implicated but of course the cost of freedom is always in effect. As well it should be.Whether your black or white you must prove your character.Kennedy felt that thats what you have to do.Another words you have to work for what you want and most importantly work for what you need.Sounds conservative to me.
@openedup09 At the time this wasn't conservative. The civil rights era changed American society to what it is today. What Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson did wouldn't be considered conservative at the time period.
The Governor of Alabama . . one George Wallace . . went AWOL on his responsibilities. Wallace liked playing the electoral race card more than facing up to his responsibilities . . i.e. seeing that any body entitled to enter the university, regardless of race, could do so. In is delinquency Wallace also also thumbed his nose at the ruling of an Alabama Court, often forgotten. Kennedy did what Wallace lacked the balls to do.
I go to the university of alabama and just recently I saw to negroes attack a couple of asian kids who were doing nothing. So much for intergration. I wish Kennedy and some of these other liberal jackasses would come and live around black people for a change to see why it is we were against intergration in the first place. The mayor of Chicago did that sometime back and could last one week living there because she, like many dumb libs, though they were like us.
@AlabamaConfederacy, nobody learns until it is too late. That's why we are in the situation we are in today. The only positive thing about Our numbers rapidly declining is that Our people will be easier to galvanize into one giant battle axe when the time comes.
@AlabamaConfederacy Hey recently I saw a group of white kids steal from a hispanic home (all college age) and stole property and were caught for it. Does this mean I should also criticize an entire ethnic group in America because of what I heard 5 people do? If you actually went to the University of Alabama then you wouldn't be this way.
@collinsmichael0355 - No ! He was merely pointing out that the 2 students were as qualified to be there as any of the other students - the only difference between them and the other students was their race. That's what he was saying
@harj2009 before the 2000's people were not scared to say "homosexual" or "negro" or to tell someone what to do, now if you do anything of the above most people will condempt you
Kennedy would sent the National Guard to Arizona right now to solve the immigration issue. You want someone with the training to enforce this ridiculous law you just passed that violates so many amendments (4th amendment is just one thing wrong). This is who enforces the laws. The president of the United States. That is his job according to the Constitution. So, Obama needs to call back the Arizona National Guard from Iraq or Afghanistan.
Another reason why Kennedy was one of the greatest Presidents in history. Like Lincoln, Kennedy understood that the military was a necessary tool to stop the tyrannical and barbaric ideology of the South from spreading terror. Alabama as an entire state was a place of evil and fascism in the 60s and we had to use the military to stop what was clearly a national security threat in George Wallace.
Like I said before, this is a free country, you're entitled to your own opinions, but my opinion is that your rant is rooted in fear rather than fact. It sounds like you think Obama is out to establish a new world order where black people run everything...that's not the case. If you've had bad experiences with black people in the past, I'm truly sorry. Like I said, detach from your emotions so you can see things for what they are, not what you feel they are.
#3: evil people are found in all races, not just black people. And not only that, statistics show that black on black crime is more common than black on white crime or white on black crime. People of all races beat, attack, mug, rob, rape, and murder other people and more times than you know, race isn't a motivating factor in the crime. It's just bad people do bad things. It's not predetermined by the color of a person's skin.
#2: Barack says he's black because of his skin tone. Society classifies you by the color of your skin, regardless of whether you're mixed or not. If he walked around saying he was white, wouldn't you think he was crazy? He's not a communist either. J Edgar Hoover tried to say the same thing about Martin Luther King, Jr. While Barack believes in feedback from us, he opposes doing away with class structure and allowing decision making to rely soley on society.
I don't think segregation needs to be revisited, but I do agree with you about all races (not just black and white) learning to respect each other's rules. As for your opinion on Obama (while you're entitled to it), it sounds more like it's rooted in fear than fact. For one thing, Barack's half black & half white. If he were racist, that would make NO sense. His mother (who was white) raised him. He was very close to her. I doubt he would disown that side of his heritage.
Racial relations have somewhat progressed, but again have become strained. What we need to try and do now is understand one another and talk it out. We're all human beings. If we can value each other's opinions, regardless of how tainted or misinformed either side may be, let's do our best to keep emotions out of the picture and clarify things so the racial tension can be resolved once and for all.
I'm aware that many of our blacks today lack the poise, common sense, and awareness that our counterparts displayed in the decades past, but believe me when I say that not all of us (yes, I am black) are like that. Please don't judge the whole based on the few. There's a myriad of African Americans who don't fit or play into the stereotypes that people all too often associate with our ethnic group. Numerous changes must be made within our community, I know. But please...don't count us out.
While I disagree with forced segregation, and feel that blacks should have the right to attend UA, I just as strongly feel that the Feds had ZERO constitutional authority to force integration.
With all due respect to the University of Alabama black students would be much better of if they took their talents somewhere else to a university that would be more welcoming to them than the University of Alabama
why Do people atuomatically think if your from alabama and white your rasists i'm white and from alabama and i'm not rasists and people who judge people from alabama with out facts is the same as racial profiling
@jakelespaulboy Well said Jakelespaulboy. It's NOT good to stereotype people because of how they look or where they come from, is it? It's very STUPID, isn't it? Indeed it's EXTREMELY IGNORANT, isn; it? I agree with you. Shame on those who do it !!
Scata99, what you heard was complete bullshit. I currently attend this University, and we have huge numbers of Blacks, Asians, Indians, and other ethnicities. You would probably find more black students here at UA than you would at many other Universities.
typical yankee agitator telling southern folks how to run their lives. Racism and segregation were wrong, but the country has seemed to go to hell since then, higher crime rate, birth rates and all kinds of other things that did not happen before intergration. I wonder if there is correlation. Also why do black people always want to go were white people are and they are not wanted? Whites dont want to go were blacks are typically. And i am bi racial not white
This is argument is completely invalid. Saying that there was a lower trend in crime and ect... before integration, doesn't mean integration is the cause. A valid argument is one where the premise must cause the conclusion.
i was posing it as a question just for though. But it is funny how the country has gone to hell since then. but all of the above things i have mentioned have happened since intergration. When was it safter for a woman to be out and about without worrying abot being attacked. Churches used to be able to be unlocked, now even churches get broken into
"Now even churches get broken into" Back then, in the good old days, churches were burned and bombed. Or don't you remember September 1963 and the killing of the little girls in Birmingham church bombing? And all the other church bombings and cross burnings, and lynchings? O, Sure, life was better then. I've got a song for you. By Billie Holliday. "Strange Fruit." Give it a listen. I am sure you can find it here on You tube. Think again if you think things were so much better back then.

why are negroes always wanting to go places whites are. We dont try to take over their places. And the jails are still 80% black even after desegregation
@game3525, equal oppurtunity is different than racial equality. That doesn't mean anyone is superior or inferior, it just acknowledges our inherited differences. Every race or ethnic group should have a chance to know their own unique, illustrious heritage in leiu of slanderous gimmic slogans such as "we are all the same" and "celebrate diversity". Can't you see that forced racial integration destroyed both the blacks' and whites' education levels, pride, morals etc?

JFK was the greatest president the US ever had. he was brave enough to fight the racist, ignorant majority. how the hell did the free world came from JFK to bush? i just don't get it... sad, but true
Good for JFK, even tho' he had many personal missteps and failings. We need to be reminded that the millions of blacks who suffered over the centuries were the ones who drove integration, and that Kennedy was the man who saw the need for an urgent response, and did it despite the complaining and hand wringing from his advisors, that they would lose his southern coalition of racist Dems and moderates. As is very clear from comments here, the hatred, fear and ignorance continues.
I live in a mixed neighborhood, although it has only become so recently; I grew up in a mixed neighborhood in the days of segregation. I associate with anyone who is sociable, black or white, christian or jew or moslem or atheist, republican or democrat. How about you?
The discrimination against those we harmed the most, the American Indian, is a continuing disgrace. Black-Americans have little or no understanding of and little interest in it.

Do you live in a white or black neighborhood?
Hang our with white or black people?

I live in a mixed neighborhood, although it has only become so recently; I grew up in a mixed neighborhood in the days of segregation. I associate with anyone who is sociable, black or white, christian or jew or moslem or atheist, republican or democrat. How about you?

Kennedy did not kill Monroe. She had two independently doctors with no idea of eachother, who gave her different pills. That killed her..

Kennedy stomped all over white rights of free association.

Racial segregation destroys freedom of association because blacks cannot freely associate with whites.

Now they do the same thing to white working class students. They can't attend college. Segregation reversed.

The discrimination against those we harmed the most, the American Indian, is a continuing disgrace. Black-Americans have little or no understanding of and little interest in it.
