I have nothing to prove to you. I, unlike you, have other venues where I excel at. The piano is simply a hobby for me. Having a degree in computer science while still having the ability to play the piano at an advanced level is adequate enough for me.
Let me summarize this for you. Unlike you (you know, you as in the person who relies on the opinions of others to determine if you like yourself), I do not require admiration from other people to have confidence in my own ability.

I've been playing the piano longer than you've been alive. In fact, I'm pretty sure you were a twinkle in your father's eye well after I even began to play.
I'll believe you when you learn to 1) spell believe and 2) mature enough to write a coherent rebuttal.
Gotta' give credit to Kyle in that respect: his ability to attract asinine children en masse is quite impressive.
I'm confused as to why a "mature" individual such as Kaggy feels the need to criticize a 19 year old kid for entertaining the internet public. Guesses:
1) Kaggy is jealous that a 19 year old has surpassed him in talent at something he has done for "longer than you've been alive" (please post vid if untrue)
2) Kaggy is frustrated at the fact that his english degree will only make him 35k a year for the rest of his life and finds comfort in posting eloquent video responses.
I'm flattered that you also think I have a degree in English. Though it's true I could have majored in anything, I chose something more fulfilling.
But of course you realize the ironic contradiction in your own logic, right? If I were to pursue the piano in a serious fashion like Kyle has done, I would make far less than I do now (which is his inevitable fate).
Plenty of doctors and doctorate-types have talents on the side. They simply chose to become something other than the starving artist.
Perhaps you could even derive another irony from the fact that I've been writing argumentative-type debates on forums for quite a while now. It's very relaxing.
And it is also extremely entertaining when people do fall for even the most obvious trolling attempts.
I suppose I would be extremely jealous if Kyle had some other area where he excelled at on top of playing the piano at such an advanced level.
But he doesn't. Why would I be jealous of someone who borderlines the stylings of Martha Argerich? He is no child prodigy and his fame is derived from YouTube alone.
I hope he makes something out of his career in our era of post-modernism to prove me wrong. But pieces like this just point out that it's unlikely.

To each his own? If we all liked the same things, this world would be very boring. Obviously a great deal of people like his compositions. More power to him. I like his piano technique and his improvisations. It's quite a handy set of skills and will definitely help him in future compositions...since improvisation is just knowing the basics about key signatures, major/minors, chord progression, etc.

I have nothing to prove to you. I, unlike you, have other venues where I excel at. The piano is simply a hobby for me. Having a degree in computer science while still having the ability to play the piano at an advanced level is adequate enough for me.
Let me summarize this for you. Unlike you (you know, you as in the person who relies on the opinions of others to determine if you like yourself), I do not require admiration from other people to have confidence in my own ability.

In the end, your pathetic attempts at a rebuttal argument crumble because of your overuse of fallacies. Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with what a fallacy is before trying to reply with more asinine logic.
It's actually a catch-22. None of the immature fanboys who follow Kyle could offer up any type of a solid rebuttal to begin with (let alone identify why their own logic fails).
I do have to feel sorry for this new generation of kids who rely too heavily on the Internet, though.

I'm confused as to why a "mature" individual such as Kaggy feels the need to criticize a 19 year old kid for entertaining the internet public. Guesses:
1) Kaggy is jealous that a 19 year old has surpassed him in talent at something he has done for "longer than you've been alive" (please post vid if untrue)
2) Kaggy is frustrated at the fact that his english degree will only make him 35k a year for the rest of his life and finds comfort in posting eloquent video responses.

I'm flattered that you also think I have a degree in English. Though it's true I could have majored in anything, I chose something more fulfilling.
But of course you realize the ironic contradiction in your own logic, right? If I were to pursue the piano in a serious fashion like Kyle has done, I would make far less than I do now (which is his inevitable fate).
Plenty of doctors and doctorate-types have talents on the side. They simply chose to become something other than the starving artist.

I suppose I would be extremely jealous if Kyle had some other area where he excelled at on top of playing the piano at such an advanced level.
But he doesn't. Why would I be jealous of someone who borderlines the stylings of Martha Argerich? He is no child prodigy and his fame is derived from YouTube alone.
I hope he makes something out of his career in our era of post-modernism to prove me wrong. But pieces like this just point out that it's unlikely.

It's the reason why were all watching this anyways. Finally a decent rebuttal.
But I have a feeling you are seeing my 8 consecutive comments because you are not clicking "view all comments" at the bottom of this video. It will show you exactly who I replied to.
My point is that art evokes opinion naturally. You either like it or you don't (post modernism with a hint of modernism in there).
But you need to approach this with an unbiased perspective and understand both sides of the argument to truly express an educated opinion.

Good point, but I was really only saying that it is unnecessary to make so many replies to so many people on this video. If this page was a forum or something of the sort with that purpose, it would be just fine. But still, I suppose you can do what you want -- you have different intentions and opinions than I do.
Also, I'm glad you see my comment as a decent, rather than something done off the top of my head. I talk like this when I feel it's needed.

What exactly has he shown us besides his advanced piano playing? His improvisations are amazing. His recital-type songs are amazing. I simply don't like his compositions. Big deal. I still am enthusiastic when he posts an improv or a recital-like piece (see: Inochi No Namae). But he really has nothing else.
Kyle is too busy to deal with something as insignificant as YouTube comments on his videos. Even if he were, he would not let my words get to him. He has talent. Let's see how far he gets.

You are just being negative, there are positive and negative comments, and you are taking it far beyond negative when you say such things. Where are these valid parts? Almost all of these 'arguments' presented actually fall under a common fallacy known as ad hominem (technically, personal attack).
You know a fallacy is an error in argumentative logic correct? If someone has used erroneous logic to formulate a rebuttal, why waste time responding to it? Please do point to examples of valid arguments and I will happily respond to them. But I have yet to see one (except this one, ironically). =)

You can be 'knowledge-thirsty' all you want...but if you do not know how to properly research and study a topic, you are not as intelligent as people who do (generally, higher level high school and college students).
Superior cognitive function forms as a result of exposing yourself to a variety of subjects with instructors to show you how to properly study the subject. Without the instructors' guidance, you are merely someone who is curious about a part time hobby.

I understand that there is the education system, but it doesn't mean that a person is more intelligent because he/she has a higher degree. And about your earlier comments about Kyle...I agree with Kweh49. You don't know anything about him on a personal level so you shouldn't judge, but I am slightly confused. Why are you complimenting him of his talent and yet thinking negatively of his talent? I'm not trying to favor either sides or at least I'm not trying to. Sorry for the long speech.

To each his own? If we all liked the same things, this world would be very boring. Obviously a great deal of people like his compositions. More power to him. I like his piano technique and his improvisations. It's quite a handy set of skills and will definitely help him in future compositions...since improvisation is just knowing the basics about key signatures, major/minors, chord progression, etc.

I'm sorry to agree as i do love this piece but 'Kaggypants' does make very logical and constructive arguments, his opinion and certainly use of vocabulary may seem like he is belittling you but his facade is impressive and he should not be criticised for his use of proper english alas your as well as everyone elses retorts towards him are not necessary if the point of his statement had been recieved.

My favourite of Kyle, I love the changes in tempo and the emotion of the song. The anger and despair after the silent moment on 3:00 is brilliant. (that's my interpretation though)
