I've been playing right handed for like a year, trying to make the switch to left ( I saw the light) and now I have to start over :( still it's fun cause I'm not making all the mistakes which I learned by playing right handed (like only using alternative picking)
To the comment below me (I can't reply on my iPod)
Paul McCartney was a left handed guitarist and he was amazing. A lot of left handed guitarists were amazing. And sometimes girls can play better than boys (depending on the girl and boy)
Amazing lesson, been playing guitar over 3 years now and kept wondering why I wasn''t getting anywhere and this video has already improved my playing just 5 minutes after watching it and using his technique. Major props
Wait.. so if you're strumming with your right hand, you're playing the guitar left handed? Holy shit, something I'll be able to do with my left hand o_O
Can someone help me with something? When I try to stretch my pinky and my index finger far apart, the two fingers just kind of turn and hook towards each other, rather than curling straight down in a parallel line. Is there any way to stop this from happening? The most I can stretch near the head of the guitar is about 2 frets in between. Please, someone help!
i have a question, i feel like i have to put too much pressure on the strings sometimes so the sound comes out right... is there a "formula" so you know if your using the required pressure or just too much?
sometimes it bothers me because it messes up my agility. I play with a steel string guitar, use to use heavy but then i moved to light strings but i still press a lot.

oh god i have searched for 5 years for a vid with how to play guitar left handed:( but finally i found it:D thx dude this helps me out of all guitar problems!!!!!!!!:D:D:D
Cool lloks like i been holding the guitar wrong! im play righty, but i would love to play lefty. Can I learn to be a lefty now after ive started a righty?
Damn it Ive been doing it all wrong no wonder I sucked Now doing this my fingers dont touch other strings just the one I want! This guy is like the best tutor! seriously! the best on youtube! Im gonna follow all his lessons till the end!
I been playing guitar for a while. I find that a combination of palming the neck and arching with the thumb against the neck is best. It really depends upon which chord I'm playing, or if im doing certain types of hammering/pull-offs. I know Hendrix palmed the guitar neck, because he used his thumb to fret sometimes. Clapton uses his thumb sometimes also, so he would palm the neck sometimes as well. no formula, just do what works best and then get really fast w/ ur fingering and transitions
every where i look they say to put your thumb behind the neck, i've played like that for a year and it just wasn't working so i said fuck it. now i palm the guitar and i change through cords easily. i don't think this technique is for everyone
my hands are kinda small... so it's harder for me to reach the low E string... since im not supposed to put my palm against the neck how am I supposed to reach it? also, are there different neck sizes that might be able to help (for example a skinnier neck size?) someone help please
actually there are different neck sizes, most gibson guitars have thicker necks, while in my experience Jackson, BC Rich, and Fender usually have a thinner neck than gibson guitars
but then again, it depends how the guitar was made
but if you have a problem with a normal guitar get a 3/4 scale guitar for a smaller neck and body size
i can reach all the strings.. but then my big fingers will strangel tthe strings below... as long i dont need to use more then one string its cool:) HELP!
It's not like he has the thinnest neck in the world. Every guitar has a different sized neck. And the neck shouldn't make that much of a difference anyway, there's not that much in between them. At most a centimeter. Dont complain.
Left handed guitar.....are you considered left handed when you strum with your right hand and like do the fingering with with your left? Or vice versa? reply plz
well most guitars will do for a beginner i definitely recommend a ephiphone they r cheap but have gibson parts and a gibson aint cheap u looking at $3,500 aussie cash.
well then, if your talking about what guitar u should get, u should go with a Jackson, or an ESP, which both have skinny necks that are easy to maneuver around with short fingers.
it takes some getting use to but if u practis this tec u will sart doing this all the time ur hand will get use to being in this posion every time u pick up u r guitar rock on.1
slightly twist ur hand up but still elave space bro, and u dont necessarily have to do it like he says some people just have there own ways so feel free to improvise

Everyone tells me i will never be good at guitar for two Reasons
1.I'm Left handed (and my brothers say no left handers can play)
2.I'm a Girl
I think anyone can play if they set their mind to it and practice i wont give up and i'll show my brothers that i can do it!

How does this help a right-handed guitar player? You need to demonstrate left-handed to teach a right-handed guitar player.
No wonder there are so many left-handed guitar players. Most instruction is mirrored wrong.
