  • The Donner Cut has 83.17% shot of by Donner himself. And I disagree with the mass: it's NOT an incomplete cut, because the Lester-footage had to be left in is making it properly complete as a movie. This is a solid movie in itself, but it's true value is only recognized seeing it together with the first movie.

Superman I and II. are now the 4 hour epic Donner wanted them to result.

Every other movie before 2012. are either shit or trash.

  • This is what Richard Donner should have done. It was silly seeing Clark's hair and glasses changing back and forth in the same scene.

  • the ppl who are complaining about the scene showing Supes not being able to tell if the bullet is real or fake just do not get it. That is not the point of the scene! the main thrust of the scene is showing the brilliance of Lois with all her sharp journalistic instinct and how she can mentally outwit the Man of Steel in the best of his abilities to cover up his identity. it's the whole mind over muscle motive which was a recurring motive in both Donner's movies which made this scene great.

  • I wan't to erase everything about Superman-movis in 2013.

  • Clark would have seen that there was no projectile coming out of the barrel.

  • I'm glad that didn't make it into the movie. So many things wrong with it.

  • First time seeing !

  • @Zach979 thats smallville though

  • lois needs a good cock...lex is such a dick...

  • I like the part of this scene where he sits in the chair and does the subtle expressions with his face, his posture chances, his look changes...he slowly changes into Superman. I love the subtleties, that when Reeve does his best acting.

  • Acting sucks i must admit

  • Would lois really do that.......no exactly why i kinda dont like donners sup 2

  • NICELY DONE!!! It's a much better tighter on the Screen test... and adding the dialogue from the Lester cut as a segway..WORKS better than the Donner cut.

There are some continuity problems and and information missed in the Donner cut..it also lacks a "romantic" build up the Lester version had.

  • I never liked that scene. It indicates that Superman can't even feel a bullet hitting him. I dislike that take.

In any regard, the Donner cut is no more than fan service. While it's great for us fans - and for those who really dislike what happened between Donner and Sal(un)kinds - the released Lester version, while going too far on the silliness at times, remains the version set in that series' continuity.

  • hahahahha.... BITCH! jk jk =P

  • Their voices are just voices of younger actors overdubbed for the scenes. Christopher Reeve does not sound like that. Margot Kidder has a lower-pitched voice.

  • Whats with this feel the blank BS? She took him by surprise. She already knew by the time he realized

  • Silly blooper scene, no wonder they did not used it, Superman would have notice the none impact, and hence not turn himself in.

  • People here say Clark would feel the bullets if they were real so would know of they were blanks. The thing is, just like the trip up hand in fire scene in Lester's, Superman was in conflict with himself; he wanted Lois to find him out, but he didn't want her to know that he wanted to be found out. So he really 'allows' himself to be outed by her.

  • @richardmoores

Ah, but using blanks is much less effective. The Donner cut shows several scences that I think would not have made a final version. The ending of the Donner cut, of course, would not have made the final cut had Donner not been fired.

  • Great editing work, i like the way you kept Gene Hackman's original dialogue in, instead of the Hackman dubbed version when he's on ski-mobile. When all the original dialogue still exists they should always keep it in the film unless they really have lost it. Also the bullet scene flows better. I agree with sandiek explantion of the bullet scene, to me the bullet scene & when Lois jump's out of the window, is why Donner & Mankiewicz truly had the right Vision & Feel for the film.

  • I love that Clark looks furious after she 'shoots' him. As for feeling the impact...normally, yes he would. But Lois had already tossed herself out of a window, why wouldnt she go for real bullets? Even if he DID figure out that there was no impact and that they were blanks, it would have been enough of a delayed reaction to prove her point anyway. Just like if he really HAD been human, it would have taken a minute to realize that no, he wasnt shot and he's not gonna die. Its a moot point.

  • Im glad that the blank scene was left out. Superman would feel the bullet if it was there. It also makes him look like an idiot.

  • Did you notice her hairstyle changed from one scene to the next?

  • Now personally, I hate the blank bullets scene! It is so unrealistic since Clark, even though bullets bounce off him, would still feel the bullet hit him and go, "Uh, Lois.. You know you shot me with a blank right?" and how would Lois even know it was him if it was a blank? But enough of that.. The way you

re-edited it is much better than Donner's and gets rid of Clark's changing hairdo. The bit at the end flowed very nicely.. Good job!

  • I agree. The one scene (from the first movie?) when Lois & Clark were mugged, and Clark was "shot", only to open his hand and smile at the bullet he caught. So, he would know if he was shot, since he would be fast enough to see the bullet expel from the pistol. Knowing that, he could fake a reaction as "Clark", which isn't to say that the fireplace scene is any better...the least they could have done is do something like in Wonder Woman's "The Boy Who Knew Her Secret".

  • you'd rather have the hand in the fire?

  • I didn't like either one, quite frankly. I thought both were unrealistic in the context of the film and the character, for the reasons I stated above.

  • @ThatsGoodTellivision I'd take the hand in the fire over the blanks, yes. It's simply better storytelling.

  • Nice work, I enjoyed it.
