ignatius was not referring to the roman catholic church since it didnt start until circa 325 a.d. the church that JESUS started began in jerusalem 33 a.d...the roman catholic church was started in rome by emperor constantine...matt 16:18 does not refer to the roman catholic church either...the rock JESUS was speaking of in matt 16:18 was not peter....peter is petros..which is a small rock...JESUS used petra...which is a big rock & the confession that peter made that JESUS is the SON of GOD
you baptize babies...the BIBLE says a person has to believe 1st....you say peter was a pope..that is false....the pope cant get married..peter was married....you have lent & ash wed...the BIBLE doesnt teach neither of those...the pops is the head of the roman catholic church...JESUS is the head of the church we read about in the BIBLE...you say mary was a virgin forever..the BIBLE says in matt 1:25 that joseph & mary had union after JESUS was born..you pray to mary..JESUS says HE is the only way
the head of the roman catholic church is the pope....JESUS is the head of HIS church....you teach sprinking as a form of baptism...the BIBLE teaches that we must be immerse in the water...rom 6:1-6...you teach that you have to confess your sins to a priest...we are to confess our sins to JESUS, not a priest.....
you bestow sainthood upon a person after they are dead...read rom 1:7...1st cor 1:2...2nd cor 2:1...these are saints while still living...a saint is a person who has given their life over to JESUS and let HIM be their LORD & SAVIOR...the BIBLE says there is one faith...its faith in JESUS and makes one a christian, not a roman catholic...i used to be a roman catholic for 15-20 yrs...until the roman catholic priest said in a BIBLE study that catholicism is based on traditions
and could not find evidence in the BIBLE to support the roman catholic doctrine...i remember the may procession...stations of the cross....rosary...and also only just taking the bread for communion...JESUS & the apostles taught that we should partake of the bread & cup..not the bread only...you call the pope holy father....GOD is the only HOLY FATHER...john 17:11...you have a catechism.....the BIBLE teaches sola scriptura...yes i believe in sola fide...however it's not the roman catholic church
We are all born with Original Sin, and are sinners. Even Infants need forgiven. Ps 51:5.
Since Infants have not yet reached the age of reason, they are Baptized by the faith of their parents. One must believ in Christ to be saved: therfore by your reckoning al infants who die before the age of reason must be lost - this is not Biblical!!
where in the BIBLE does it say the parents by faith have to baptize their infant...the BIBLE teaches one must hear the word of GOD & have faith...an infant does not qualify for baptism...besides, baptism is a burial in water...not the sprinking of water on someone...
There are a few scriptures in the bible which the proponents of the original sin doctrine will attempt to twist to fit their ends. As usual, when only a few scriptures can be produced to justify a doctrine, and when these seem to be contradictory to the vast majority of sound, clear biblical teachings, something is wrong. The bible does not contradict itself in any way; thus, there must be an explanation which can reconcile the two seemingly contradictory passages.
Perhaps a favorite verse is Psalms 51:5: "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me." Let us first reason from the meaning of the verse itself: does it say that David, the writer, inherited the sin of Adam? No. The verse itself (out of context) might indicate that David's parents were in sin at the time of his conception.
This seems to be the meaning of the verse at face value. There is no inference from the verse itself that David is guilty of sin because of the sin of Adam or the (possible) sins of his mother and father.
So, even taken out of context, this verse is not supporting the concept of original sin.Placed into its proper context, we can see what David is really attempting to communicate. It is clear that this is the point in David's life where the depth & gravity of his sin with Bathsheba (2 Samuel chapters 11 & 12) has been fully recognized, & David is in considerable guilt, sorrow, & repentance. He is expressing this guilt & sorrow with some of the most pathetic words in the bible (Psalms 51:3-5).
the church was not built on peter...it was built on JESUS being the SON of GOD..paul may have written 12-14 books in the new testament...peter only maybe 2 short books..they were both inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT.and neither had anything to do with the roman catholic church
The Church was founded in 33AD by Christ Himself - not by constantine in 325AD - this is ridiculous!!
You parrot the common heretial accusation that Ignatius was referring to the "universal church". However, the term "Catholic" was used to name the One True Church of Chirst and distinguish it from heretical offshoots.
Besides, your idiotic assertion is refuted by the fact that Ignatius held Catholic teaching - Eucharist, Priesthood, Believers, Our Lady etc.
33ad...that was not the roman catholic church..your reasoning is full of lunacy & false doctrine...why do you keep referring to ignatius...he was not a holy apostle..you need to follow the doctrine of CHRIST...not the roman catholic church
once again, the new testament church & the BIBLE does not teach..lent..ash wednesday..the stations of the cross..the may procession..pray to mary or the saints..confess to a priest...pray the rosary..take the bread only when partaking of communion..people becoming saints after they die..show me scriptures in the BIBLE where JESUS or the apostles taught the new testament church those things..i want BIBLE...not what Ignatius said...i want the doctrine of CHRIST...not roman catholic church doctrine
Sola Fide is Heresy!!
The Catholic Church is the One True Church Founded by Christ!
iotaunam1 2 years ago
that can't be true since the roman catholic church was started circa 325 a.d. and their doctrine is contrary to the HOLY SCRIPTURES
cooltkll 2 years ago
St Ignatius refers to the Catholic Church in 107 AD, so the Church existed well before 325 AD!!!. It was founded directly by Christ. Mt 16:18.
ALso, Catholicism is the ONLY biblical faith, adhering to all of Scripture! Sola Fide is against Scripture:
James 2:20 - "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"

Regarding Baptism:
Protestants reject the salvific nature of the sacrament:
Jn 3:5 - "Jesus answered: Amen, amen I say to thee, UNLESS a man be born again OF WATER and the Holy Ghost, he CANNOT ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD."
Mk 16:16 - "He that believeth AND IS BAPTISED, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned."
See also: Acts 2:38, Mt 28:19, Mk 16:16, Acts 8:12, Acts 16:15, Acts 9:18, Acts 22:16, Rom 6:4, 1 Cor 6:11, Gal 3:27, Titus 3:5-7 etc etc.

according to the BIBLE....baptism is being immerse...not being poured or sprinkle.....those two are false...and man made..

Regarding Papal Primacy:
Matt16:18 -"And I say to thee: THOU ART PETER; and UPON THIS ROCK I will BUILD MY CHURCH, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
In the NT Peter is mentioned 155 times, whereas the others were mentioned 130 times COMBINED!!!!
Peter Clearly has primacy over the others:
Matt. 14:28-29, Matt. 16:16, Mark 8:29; John 6:69,Matt. 16:17, Matt. 16:19, Matt. 18:21, Matt. 19:27, Mark 10:28, John 21:15-17, 1 Peter 5:1 etc
Far too much, I can send you a PM
