  • I don't get it? An underarm is allowed?

  • @TSteRify No it isn't allowed, it's poor sportsmanship, not even letting the batsman attempt to hit a six and just wanting to win the game. Quite terrible, actually.

  • @TSteRify There was no rule saying you couldn't bowl underarm at the time as no one thought anyone would do it. A rule against underarm bowling was added after this incident.

  • its bizarre how NZ play such good, clean cricket while just a couple hundred miles away their next door neighbours are such bad sportsmen

  • I'm Australian and I'm so embarrassed by this incident.

  • I don't understand cricket so can somebody please tell me why this is so bad?

  • @KrfNYC2

Me neither, but I've gathered enough to know that in Cricket, you cannot bowl underarm. At the time of this game, nobody did it because it was poor sportsmanship, but there was no rule stating you couldn't. This guy bowled it underarm so the NZ player couldn't hit it right, which would've resulted in them winning if it wasn't bowled underarm. I guess a rule was added afterwards stating you couldn't play like that. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.

  • hahah I love the way he just chucks the bat away as he walks off seething....

  • glad they dont do that anymore.

  • this is bull shit, Aussies couldn't handle losing so they bold like women, Aussies did the wrong thing, Aussies SUCK deal with it.

  • why did he bowl undrarm

  • You can't call it cheating cause it wasn't against the rules. It was just bad sportsmanship and against the vitues of the game.

  • he did the right thing. AUSSIES RULE!

  • Dirty cheats!!

And they still cheat with michael clarke "catching the ball".

  • Yes this has now been banned. Overarm only.

  • all new Zealand needed was a six off that ball to draw and Australia dont hav the guts to play fair with a chance of a draw wat a bunch of cheating un sportsmanship like cunts

  • I totally agree for some reason. down with Australia!! Pakistan Zindabad!!

  • @makie4434 I wouldn't really expect much more from them.

  • Im Australian and i gotta admitt thats really piss poor. Terrible sportsmanship.

  • Is this type of delivery now banned?

  • dont blame the bowler he was bullied into it by his older brother( the captain)

  • You're right mahnaruto. Typical Greg Chappell for you.

  • how typically australian! one would think they'd learn from their disgraces but things apparently haven't changed much

  • Typical Australian sportsmanship im so glad they got wasted in the football world cup, bastards.

  • No now really. That was one of the worst incidents in Australian Cricket. He should have just bowled a really good ball. He probally wouldn't have got it.

  • Aussies are sheep-shaggers

  • You are probably assuming you have us figured out lol

But my background (Like most Australians) are not of convicts.

It if strange though... In Australia we have the least amount of violence / riots then most countries. We have government support for those who loose their jobs, or are unable to work. And we never leave anyone on the street.

There are many countries that claim to be 'better' yet; lack any qualities to be better.

  • We wuld have won neway

  • what happened?

  • haha if i was that cricket player i would be like "suck my dick nzers" and go off to the pub and have a victory binge

  • And that comment on british convicts to australia. Mbar128. Get your facts right. They where sent to Australia as a form of 'prison'. However, 95% of the convicts where innocent. Shipped off over alogations not that far off "witchery". Australia got independance, and has built a far better country than most can claim to dream about.

  • Why are people STILL whinging about somthing that happend over 25 years ago?

I think it was brave and bold to do such a thing. As they knew they would have negative reaction for doing it. However, it taught the officials to ASSEMBLE THE RULES CARFULY, AND DONT LEAVE SHIT OUT! This was not that Australians fault, it was the official's fault.

  • look i am with you, it was a long time ago and get over it but........... don't take the blame off the aussies it was a stupid thing to do. If they had bothered to do their home work, brian was an all black and a big and strong bloke but was not really capable of hitting sixes this could have been just a really good game of cicket with a great centry from bruce edgar without the aussies making such an ass of themselves.

  • So you think; countries can have players who cheat, match fix, ball tamper, and down right cheat - yet they are forgotten after a year or two. But look out if the Aussies do something (Even if its in the rules of the game at the time)!

Its like saying 25 years ago you were allowed to ball tamper, so an aussie does it - then when its outlawed every aussie gets flamed.

Move on; its 25 years ago; AND it was in the rules at the time.

  • you twat!! i have moved on but it seems YOU have not, bowling underarm you cannot compare to ball tampering which i would remind you we have never been accused of. Look it happened 26 years ago i have moved on and still admire australian cricket. Yes it was in the rules in aussie to bowl underarm (due to you to a mistake by your own cricket board) but nowhere else in the world. So just say it, it was very bad judgement of your team and YOU move on, most other aussies have.

  • I have moved on; dont you worry about that. But you are still saying the Aussies made an ass of themselfs.

What do you mean it was a mistake in Australia's cricket board? It was a rule from the ICC (As ALL international cricket rules are made, monitored and controled by the ICC; NOT THE HOST COUNTRY)... It was an ICC mistake; simple as that.

  • fuck you bowler good try keeper well done

  • come on the New Zealand team were just sore losers get over it kiwis

  • @ndingo New Zealanders can hardly complain after what they did v Wales in 78 at Rugby, one of the most infamous planned (and admitted) cheating incidents in sporting history. And who was it who kicked the winning penalty as a result? Brian MacKechnie, the very same guy who received the underarm delivery here and flung his bat down in disgust. Neither incident should have happened, but i doubt many New Zealanders would change both.

  • @mizofan haha you are right in a way. Throw in Colin Meads fucking up that poor bastard in the ruck and Richard Loe breaking Paul Carozza's nose, we Kiwis are just as one-eyed as any Australian.

  • wot a load of wamkers

  • come on guys. it happened a long time ago. these things happen in cricket, its just like how Hoggard bowled a ball extremely wide so gilchrist couldnt get the fastest test century. all part of the game. move on already =\

  • @imjacklol Hoggard bowled extremely wide so Gilchrist couldn't get the fastest test century, you say? If so, that is disgusting and shameful too, downright spiteful. Just not cricket! Cheating Poms, cheating Aussies, cheating Kiwis...shame on em all. Majid Khan would never have stooped to such ungentlemanly conduct

  • Get over it Kiwis. It was completely within the rules. The Chappell boys should have been national heroes. The only thing Greg Chappell did wrong was to back down and apologise later like a little pussy.

  • And so was sending all the British convicts to Australia to allow them to repopulate...it was within the rules.

  • my mother can drunk

  • Two words - ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL.

This shows Australia's sporting arrogance, especially when playing against us Kiwi's. You might have the glory in cricket nowadays Australia, but you should never be allowed to forget this one.

  • what cheap act by the aussies

  • hahahaha.

  • Lest we forget. Rob Muldoon- then NZ Prime Minister- said the next day how appropriate it was that Australia wear yellow- the colour of chickens. Bastards.

  • lol

  • Australians-chickens... Hmmmm...Interesting theory.

The bowler was Trevor Chappell but don't blame him.He was ordered to bowl underarm by his captain and brother Greg Chappell.

  • "Guru Greg" (sarcasm) did the math wrong. He made mistakes in assigning bowlers alternate overs, and as a result, Trevor ended up bowling the 50th over and Greg panicked.
