  • He was the most exciting and explosive guard from his era. Bags of skills and had the all-round package. He was something like a cross between a Jordan and a Pippen. Unfortunate with the injuries and who knows what could have been.

  • my 3rd favorite player of all time......

  • I loved my Penny shoes.

  • @ezkcdude He was one of the few that still wears a low cut shoes at that time.

  • Man, I remember being at the game for #3, I was barely 12 and screaming like crazy when he dunked it. Penny confirmed for GOAT had it not been for the injuries :(

  • as a kid, for once he was my favorite player who played the game

  • hardaway doesn't deserve the comparison to volume scorers like Kobe, T-Mac or to a lesser extent VC. At his best, guy could score at will and still find ways to set up teammates. He never needed the ball as much as those volume scorers.

  • hate how he was an amzing player but injuries just ruined him....poor guy that was a great magic team

  • 00:54 Carlton Banks

  • I thought I saw Anthony Avent in this Video!

  • Mickey Mouse had Penny Hardway's kneecaps busted during the off-season, which is why Penny wasn't the same when he left Orlando, I heard he did something to Steve Francis (remember him?) and T-mac(was never the quite the same).. Shaq was lucky to get away; he had to go as far as L.A though... Dwight Howard better be very careful fucking with Disney

  • @retrotw wasn't that dominant? are you high? did you even watch penny play in his day or just watching these videos? Penny was the most dominant player at his position for a Point Guard. When Shaq went down with his injury in Orlando, who do you think carried them to the playoffs? who do you think shouldered the scoring load that year? He didn't need to score 30 points a night to be effective or dominant as you put it in terms of scoring, but in other ways, he was dominant on the court.

  • how many times Ewing was posterized? damn!

  • @sakudeelkraneo old skool big men. They don't back down even when they got to block a leaper. Not like nowadays where they'd rather let the guy have the highlights and take their possession instead.

  • ugh...i miss Penny Hardaway.

  • i never knew who this was until i got nba 2k12 but how could people say he is 1 of the most OVER rated players

  • Penny was good...but not as good as Kobe, not even as good as Tmac...to a certain extent not even as good as VC...thats only my opinion though...although he probably was better than all 3 of them in terms of being a set up man...but scoring...no way...he wasnt that dominant...

  • @retrotw he'd kill you in more ways than scoring man. he's like a 6'7 CP3 (not with the style of play, but the effect on the floor). get this man, when he wants to score, he will score. I've watched him growing up, and man can this player take over games.

  • @alvinjason10 I know he's versatile...I stated its just my own opinion man...lol

  • @alvinjason10 but both he and grant hill got fucked big time by injuries...

  • I tought at no.2 the commentator started..."Are you SHITTING me?!" :D

  • seeing this just makes me sad. Penny, Grant Hill, and Mashburn were my favorite players from the 90's. All suffered horrible injuries. But Penny was the biggest diappointment. After the injuries Hill and Mash re-invented their games and they were still efficient (before Mash retired, he was averaging close to 20ppg and Hill is still better than most players in the NBA today).

Even w/o the speed and hops, Penny still could've been excellent at the point (like john stockton). But he just gave up.

  • penny one of the greatest

  • That #1 dunk on Ewing was sick!

  • I just love how he always has a smile on his face

  • penny hardaway healthy>kobe

  • @Holli5t3rSw4G Bitch please...........GTFOH Penny career was over like *snap* That

  • he looks like david blaine....

  • was #6 a threepointer? never seen anything like #6, best ones were 6,5, 2 and 1

  • Will always be my favorite player.....Dam those injuries!!

  • when Penny wore his Orlando jersey, he had his last name on his back and first name on the front

  • i do my thang penny hardaway

  • poor penny... he should've trade himself... jordan era really killed and ate most of them... i mean all of them...

  • If only he passed freshman year in college, then he wouldnt have been shot

    In the foot,

Thus no injuries and legendary status, poor penny he could of been HOF i feel so bad for the guy, so much talent gone

  • the more highlights i see the less respect i have for patrick ewing..he is on every highlight list..getting violated

  • @ninobrown1689 Would you rather have him get dunked on or get out of the way ala LBJ? At least he's making an effort.

  • @cubsfan4life33 true..but come on pat always got shit on..and I'm not even referring to jordan doing it..cause it seems like everyone got him its sad..and he folded in big games..I'm a knick fan so I kno..and lbj has time..and he already did everything pat did and more in 8 seasons

  • @ninobrown1689 Oh I know what you're saying, Ewing was on the wrong end of A LOT of my favorite dunks. I fell bad for Ewing though because if he was in today's NBA he would dominate. What current center would you rather have than Ewinig? He played against some of the best players ever.

  • @cubsfan4life33 yea he woudl be the best center by far today..but he was no match for hakeem or shaq,..hakeem embrassed him i wish he didnt get in jured in the 99 playoffs though..i never respected david robinson..knicks woulda probablyh won more then one game int hat shit

  • @ninobrown1689 who are u talking about?

  • you mean.. NIKE should retire his jersey lol.

  • that shit at 1:02 was sick as fuk

  • He couldve easily been the 2nd best to ever lace them up if it werent for the damn injuries

  • who is better TMAC or PENNY?

  • Penny was never going to be the next Jordan. But he damn sure looked like Magic Johnson 2.0 when he was healthy. People forget now he was an amazing PG at the time.

  • @mylestate No way was he Magic 2.0. He had his own style. He was a combination of point and guard. He had the ability to score many points. He was also more athletic. With that said, he would probably not be better than Magic. Magic was just a freak of nature in his time. Penny would have had his own legacy. Potential Hall of Famer. Not sure how he fell off so bad.

  • penny hardaway and t-mac remind me of each other just b/c they were supposed to reach that kobe status but were hampered due to injuries. i'm not going to say jordan status because thats a disrespect to jordan

  • 3 seconds is all he needs

  • At that era, he was that close to MJ. Injuries kept him

  • @DreiRN No he wasn't...ole dumass!

  • @DreiRN No he wan't...he was no where near MJ!

  • imagine if he was at his prime with out the injuries.

  • Only had three good years.......but man what a three years it was!

  • mój ulubiony gracz w tamtych czasach:)

  • wow, kinda regret not being able to watch him in his prime

  • What a player, one of he greatest to never win a title!

  • @you2me Penny is not one of the greatest dumbass. He had 3 good seasons and that was it.

  • damn, what a great player

  • Penny's a legend..

  • hes kinda look like T-Mac

  • man I loved Penny... him with a young Shaq, they shouldve won the championship in 95...that team definitely wouldve been a beast through the late 90's if Shaq would stuck around and MJ hadnt returned to make the bulls a powerhouse in the east

  • penny!!!!!!!!

  • penny!!!!!!!!

  • micro-fracture surgery took another great player

  • why #1 always sucks

  • All the magic needed was a better headcoach. Had they gotten chuck daly in shaq's time, they would of won multiple championship. I thought they should of fire brian hill after the 95 final. I don't know why they kept him for another 2 yrs.

  • penny had just everything to go down as one of the greatests. and i agree on the comments, orlando HAVE to retire pennys jersey.

  • Damn knee injuries took a lot away from his talents

  • Comment removed

  • Did you ever see Scottie Pippen try to guard this guy?Penny would make him look like a bench player.

  • @NEBLEEKS Yes I did, infact I justed watched Wades recent crossover pull back jumper in the POs and it reminded me of a very similar play by Penny on Pippen, hope to find it. Amazing Penny plays and in just one season. Shame about injuries and teams etc he could have really excelled

  • his shoes was even hot back then, he had a doll, starred in a movie... he was in the orig. NBA greatest 50.. he had potential

  • He would've been a HOFer if he didn't blow out his knee. Once he fucked up his knee, he was never the same.

  • everyone dont on Ewing haha

  • around 2005 i was working out at a private hole in the wall gym in memphis one afternoon, and during my warm up jog 6 towering guys came strolling in the gym. i got closer to them and sure enough there was the hometown hero cracking up with his boys. i knew i was in front of a legend, but i guess i was starstruck. luckily for me, as i passed them to go work out, penny offered me a handshake. lifting weights was never so easy.

  • what a shame...

  • hahahahaha!! Patrick Ewing was posterized!

I have just about every Penny rookie card ever made.

  • @JLT187.. T-Mac(Tracy McGrady) is the magic guard that wore #1 and never got out the first round. Penny and Shaq took Orlando to it's first final appearance and got swept by the Rockets.. Just wanted to clear that up for you dawg..

  • just imagine his career rite now if it wasnt for the injury

  • Comment removed

  • Injuries happen - it's part of the game - we'll never how really Penny would/could have been had he not suffered injuries, same for Grant Hill, Chris Webber, Greg Oden, etc - the same shit that happened to Penny could have also happened to Kobe, Lebron, Wade, etc - it is what it is, but at least Penny had a few awesome years that we, as fans, can look back on & think what might have been...

  • @PGFNJ79 true enough. Not everyone is genetically gifted for the grind of a long, legendary career in the pros. Imagine what Jordan went through and how his knees were still fine even when he was 38. Not great but serviceable. Lebron is the NBA's most athletic player ever IMO. Injuries at times really change the player, reducing their speed and athleticism and they become a former husk of what they could have been.

  • @PGFNJ79 cant forget tmac

  • @PGFNJ79 that last bit you stole from 2k11 about t-mac

  • SIIIIIIIIIIICK

  • what a legend!

  • Shout outs to everyone who owns a pair of Penny Foams!

  • ha was that Anthony Bowie who dunked it in #2?

  • hardaway, hill, t-mac...all NBA greats who got their careers screwed by injuries...damn it curse of orlando :D

  • Comment removed

  • Isn't this the year that Jordan was in the MLB??

  • unfulfilled potential ruined from injuries yet again

  • Hardaway in from the right, leans it in and draws the foul.

  • they should've retired his number instead of making Tracy McGrady wear it.

  • @RealBadNewz Did you watch Tracy in Orlando? He was even better then Penny.

  • @blackricktheruler im not a fan of tracy.

  • Lebron shot fifty pct from the field last season. Penny was def on his way to being one of the best but injuries plagued him. During his healthy years he was def one to be reckoned with, just as g hill, s kemp, and d Coleman. Still not better than lebron.

  • im mad he dont get mentioned with the best

  • @the180boys He was good for 3 years and he never won shit! Ole dumbass!

  • @Domini478 then why did you watch the video....u know what dont answer that i just want you to feel dumb, have crappy day :p

  • I'd take a 20-something Penny and G-Hill over anybody in the nba today. Shame the basketball gods had to harm their potentionally legendary careers.

  • @Bleeve33 totally agree penny and grant was going down in the books if not for injury

  • i love it when i wear my tmac jersey and people think it's penny hardaway

  • Why wouldn't the Magic retire his jersey? Sure, his time there was limited but he did so much, and it bothers me that when I watch Magic games now, I have to see Gilbert Arenas rocking the #1 (Sure, it's an homage, but it still kinda irks me).

  • @rudygr23 he was good for 3 years...

  • Comment removed

  • lol... poor patrick Ewing was always a victim of posterization. Jordan's number 1 highlight was also a Ewing posterization.

  • I still think Penny has a better offensive skillset than T-Mac and Kobe, especially in his prime. Highly efficient as he's had a 50% fg season, which neither two has touched yet, nor Lebron has either, and he is suppose to be the supremely athletically gifted. Defense wise, T-mac probably was the better ballhawk and shotblocker but Penny is the better on ball defender due to his size. Simply put, he's more efficient.

  • elegance in motion ..arenas don deserve this numb

  • Too many good players get hurt that played for orlando that could've been GREAT. Grant hill, Penny and T-mac are all raw talent kind of players with ridiculous skill that got slowed down by injuries. I love how t-mac is still sick in Detroit and all the young cats out there have to wiki him not knowing how sick he really is.

  • @Sackxay HaHa Serious Grant Tracy And Penny Were And Still Are THE BOMB All Played For The MAGIC Too

  • Penny, Grant Hill and T-Mac, all time great talents devastated by injuries. What's interesting, their skill set was very similar, all were around 6'7 and played for Orlando..

  • im like penny 95 u like penny 04

  • Penny comes very close to Jordan's calibre of play.

    Raw talent.

  • @Sagradia hell no, he did not.

  • @Sagradia If he didn't have to deal with the bad knee then his name would be mentioned along with MJ, Magic, Bird, Kareem as one of the best period. Too bad.

  • including cousy

  • To jest prawdziwe rozgrywanie meczu na najwyzszym poziomie!!!

  • Why does Ewing always get dunked on?

  • @deienmays lol! i know, righ!? but it was because he was a good shot-blocker ...nothing ventured, blah blah blah...he has been on all the great's posters though. they should have taken the "nba at 50" group photo with ewing getting dunked on by everyone there.

  • @MrHavok29 haha I know and don't get me wrong, he was an all-star, but still he would get posterized all the time. Yeah the group photo idea is great hahaha

  • @deienmays :) we need to start a petition for the "nba at 70" photo and get it right next time...lol.

  • penny hardaway was a raw ass motherfucka bak then, shoes were dope as shit too

  • man to man defense that is .....good help defender though

  • The major problem that the "next jordan's" had is that they played while jordan was still dominating the league. Kobe, Wade, Lebron, et al. have the pressure taken off of them becuse they don't have to face a living, breathing, PRIME-time michale jordan. Jordan devistated opponents from the inside out. Penny Was Amazing in his prime though. He had a much better skill set than Kobe and was much worse defensively.

  • Penny Hardaway was a mixture of Kobe and magic Johnson in his prime. Even Lebron James said Penny was his favorite player growing up. Its just a shame his career ended up the way it did.

  • Anfernee made zillions of pennies in his playing days,BOY WAS STR8 UP NASTY!!!

  • Orlando should retire his jersey

  • @BeatsByBrandon2444 arenas has it now

  • @BeatsByBrandon2444 Inless Gilbert Arenas Is Wearin It To Honor Him Then Retire It Love PENNY

  • @BeatsByBrandon2444 Tracy mcgrady has a better chance of getting #1 retired for him then Penny

  • @JLT187 Seriously? The guy who never made it out of the first round of the playoffs? The guy who contemplated early retirement while in Orlando? Riiiiiight....

  • @BeatsByBrandon2444 Instead they just give it away.

  • @BeatsByBrandon2444 I am with you. Gilbert Arenas should NOT be wearing it.

  • @BeatsByBrandon2444 They won't because he was good for three years.

  • @BeatsByBrandon2444 They are not going to retire his jersey because he had 3 good seasons.

  • :59 how the hell did he know someone was behind him? he didnt even look back

  • Penny on Ewing beauty!!!

  • I guess wearing a number 1 jersey and playing for the Magic will give you the injury bug.

  • awesome video...but WHAT HAPPENED to that guy..... ANYONE?? he was one of the next in line jordans and then he just disappeared.....don't even know who he played for after the magic.....I did always think kobe would be the next closest to AIR because he started young and has the fierce competivness......

  • Dats my mans en em....

  • i absolutely love #5. penny was so unselfish but could score at the same time. thats the kind of player i like. that pass was beautiful. i try to play the same way when im playing pickup ball.

  • penny was great and all, but some of y'all are nuts.

penny was more mike finley than kobe, lets be real

  • @westcoastwithit

Better than Finley, less than Kobe :)

  • reminds me of a better version of kobe bryant

  • man i love penny. his game was beautiful. he's a great player to model your game after. i try to incorporate his game into my own. him and grant hill were amazing back then. grant was my fav in the 90's.

  • pass at #2 is sicker than dunk at #1, imo. penny was awesome

  • Tracy Mcgardy>penny hardaway.

  • I agree, they are the same talented, they are both unlucky, but Mcgrady has better shotting, Penny were too rely on his gift, Penny has better post play and pass, Mcgrady has better mid range, long range.

  • @jimmychuang tracy mcgrady and hardaway were one of me favorite players but they relied on natrual born talent to much

  • tmac = hardaway

  • the best shooting guard in 1994 -> 1996. Sure if he hadn't so many inuries, he would still be awesome.

  • if he didnt get injured he may have been up there with kobe

  • noooo not patrick

  • He was the best for a short time. Still my personal favorite player of all-time.

  • great top 10!

  • man aint nothin fuckin wit young penny!!!

  • that 1st up & under was as Jordan-like as it gets. I still believe that if Hardaway stayed healthy his whole career, he would have been that other shooting guard being compared to Michael Jordan & not Kobe.

  • it's a basketball tragedy that his career was ruined by injuries.

  • Check the post moves:

    /watch?v=76oA4QZohR8

  • Those who say Kobe is a better closer, post player and scorer needs to watch a few more Penny clips.

Penny could score 30 w/o hogging the ball..

  • if injury wasnt his issue...I know for sure penny would be better than kobe today!!!!

  • number 5 was incredible wow and 3 took him less then 5 secs to run the court he woulda been one of the greatest if he wouldnt have got injured penny was sick with it and kobe is good no doubt bt people need to quit acting like hes on michaels level its not comparable michael is the best ever hands down kobe will be in the top twenty but his stats dont even compare to jordans third yr in the league jordan wa averaging 37 points a game kobe 17

  • penny was the shit he wants to come back and play for miami with lebron wade bosh dont think there gonna take him

  • Penny was the man he was my favorite player when i was groing up along with of course MJ if it was'nt for the injuries who where he be right now probably one of the best to ever play the game !!

  • You know what.. and some Magic fans might disagree with me on this.. i Think Orlando should sign Shaq and Penny.. I Think Penny has some left... Shaq's 38 and he has some left, why can't Penny play? I think Penny could be our 3rd string point guard. Now Shaq might be tough because he wants to Start and that's not happening.. i Think signing Shaq would help us to win now. We can trade Marcin away for maybe a future draft pick and sign shaq for 4/5 millions for 2 years. It can help us, i'm sure.

  • lol all the 90's people in the crowd

  • Ewing got dunked on more than any player in NBA history. I loved his defense at Georgetown but in the Pros he got abused.

  • @ronsmac That honor goes to Theo Ratliff.

  • @ronsmac Nah that title goes to Shawn Bradley lol he was in everyone's poster lol.

  • hahaha dat white boy lost his dribble

  • I dont take anything away from Shaq but Shaq had a luxury his whole career of playing along side a great player and being apart of a tandem. Whether it was Penny, Kobe, Wade, Nash, and finally Lebron. Each of those guys have struggled because either they had no help and became the sole superstar or in Penny's case suffered from injuries. Shaq left Kobe and he became part of a rebuilding Lakers while Shaq teams up with another budding superstar in Wade. How far would Shaq have got wit no help.

  • Breaking news:Penny hardaway was speaking in espn OTL first report that penny hardaway might go back to the nba to the maimi heat with the 3 kings.
