  • Time is an amazing converter. The diference in music made in 1986 and music made in 2011!

  • the ending is not so.... ok no, this is terrible.

  • Karma Police got them

  • This should come right after Motion Picture Soundtrack on Kid A.

  • so thats the happy song out the way, now for 8 albums of unhappy songs lol

  • HAHAHA this is same band that made knives out. KNIVES OUT!!

  • Compare this to Kid A, Thom, what's happend ? LOL

  • This is one of my favourites:)

  • this is so much better than Pablo Honey

  • @nicolas932 Are you kidding me?....

  • @cookiesbaba no, i'm not

  • @nicolas932 pablo honey was ok. the bends was when they got GREAT

  • Can't wait for On a Friday to tour.....

  • I wish they'd go back to having fun. Add to the list another reason to change the world and bring about world peace: Radiohead will make happy songs.

  • i think they stopped taking drugs after this, then created radiohead and the rest is history, but its pretty cool that radiohead started off making ridiculous music like everyone else, they're human after all.

  • @TheSpaffmaster this isn't ridiculous xD just a little but I really love this song :P

  • I like it ._.

  • I can't believe these are the guy who recorded Kid A. I really can't.

  • There must have been some event that occured sometime after this that changed them from happy happy to well...radiohead. (no disrespect, I love Radiohead)

  • Dear Lord this is terrible...

  • @antisadism

    Yes

  • It sounds like Talking Heads.

  • @somewhathumanlike Well, makes sense, if you know what I mean.

  • @IsuckYoungBlood I definitely know what you're saying.

  • Most epic guitar riff ever. It's like Jonny has a masturbation disorder.

  • Happy Happy Happy! Seeing them in two days on Colbert!

  • They were tight from the start, well produced, great tune...damn.

Thanks to the...that sent this over.

  • much talent

  • Radiohead on Ecstasy.

  • haha esta cancion parece sacada de un anime xD Like!!

  • shut up.....it's awesome.

  • Radiohead? playing a happy indie song? WOAH this is too much, I am too used to their new prog/experimental side

  • I hear some Talking Heads influence in this. But that's just me.

  • @AreaCode978 well, 'tis where they got their name (radio head= radiohead)

  • @AreaCode978 didn't they name themselves Radiohead after a talking heads song? or have i got that wrong... sounds a bit like The Cure to me

  • Something I noticed while listening to the On A Friday stuff and other early releases by Tchock and Co.They tried almost every genre to see what they were good at.In fact, they still continue doing it and that is why I love them

  • @MrFreedomGotAnAK you're right :D

  • imagine this shoved onto the end of Kid A.

  • @d347b2 Lmfao, I dont why, but I found that really funny.

  • I think there was a verse, and a chorus. What the Fuck!?

  • hahahahh

id love to see them do this now

  • @bromania13 Hahahahah, yeah me too!!!

  • >Radiohead

    >Happy

    >whattheactualfuck.jpg

  • I like it for some reason.

  • Can you imagine what they would be now if they continued with this sound....

    *cringes*

  • Thom sounds nothing like himself

  • Did anyone notice that Rebecca Black's Friday is in the sidebar?

    Is that just a coincidence?

  • feels like it's kind of subversively mocking slightly.. seems ironic to me.

  • geniale

  • I'm confused...

  • better than pablo honey?

  • Radiohead did Ska?

  • Well they sing happy songs too!!! ...but I can still see few ppl crying over it

  • this is better than anything on the new album in my opinion

  • @nbluth08 huh? i know you said IMO at the end there but... i don't understand all the flak KoL is getting? Its a huge departure even for radiohead, but it just requires that the listener look for all the little technicalities that don't appear right away. Not gonna lie i was disappointed at first, but after time it becomes huge and relevant to today, i find at least.

  • @nbluth08 I respectfully disagree...

  • lol this isn't bad at all :p.

  • Everyone can write depressive music, and it's getting stale.

    rarely anyone writes happy music.

  • @Gedinioo

Indie music in general at least sounds happy.

  • @eyebal i don't understand this argument. The Suburbs, one of the most popular indie rock albums there is, is a dark tale of suburban life.

  • @iinspectra

You have a limited scope of what indie is. It's not like emo or something that is all under one umbrella. Deerhunter, The Strokes, The Rapture, Arcade Fire, St. Vincent are all indie and sound different. All indie isn't sad.

  • @CyberSpectrumND Of course all indie isn't sad. Neither is all of it happy, which is what I was trying to say to eyebal.

  • @CyberSpectrumND I find it odd when people say The Strokes are indie, even though their biggest influences were Pearl Jam, a grunge band, and Jane's Addiction, a hard rock/glam rock band

  • @Gedinioo

Check out Brand New. They can turn depressive states into great fireballs of creative energy like no one else can. However, Morrissey and The Smiths CAN get kinda blah on some of their songs, and they practically thrive on depression for creativity.

  • Thank God Radiohead changed their trajectory...Hahahaha steel drums? This sounds like something from the soundtrack to Weekend At Bernie's..As a budding songwriter this gives me hope, everybody starts somewhere. XD

  • Na, I like almost everything by Radiohead, but that's just okay at best. But since they got so much better it's interesting to listen to. ;)

  • Are these really the same five geniuses who crafted Kid A, Hail to the Thief, and In Rainbows?

  • @CatastrophicDisease yes. great song.. nice that they've progressed and explored many different styles

  • I don't know why but I absolutely love this song. There must something wrong with me...

  • This song sucks

  • @ChowderProductions77 Sucks = the term used commonly by undescriptive violent retards who are incapable of explaination so they just throw throw word "sucks" and hope people will think their criticism is logical.

  • @antisadism nah this really sucks

  • @DamienLukeNZ Hey Damien! I see you commented on this video!

  • Comment removed

  • @DamienLukeNZ Yeah sucks, when you have millions of fans, songs and albums ranked in the greatest of all time, ranked 73rd greatest musicians of all time, alot of money. You know that you suck. Sucks means bad, yet Radiohead has alot of high reviews, fans, and money. And everyone knows high reviews, fans, and money means you are good (unless you live in some parallel dimension) so the equation of suck cannot work. Math kicks ass.

  • @antisadism This is win.

Also, I love the fact that your comments appear on loads of Radiohead videos (not like I'm a Youtube stalker or anything, I just tend to notice these sort of things...).

    Long live RH.

  • This song is from the mid-80's. It always blows me away how Thom's voice sounds exactly the same today, no aging to his voice whatsoever.

  • Yes...let's keep this as a demo, mmmk? No release please :-P It's not bad, per se, but this doesn't sound like any good incarnation of Radiohead.

  • @bernlin2000 Since Happy Song only exists is this sub-quality demo version, I'm almost certain you'll be spared the indignity of an official release. So don't fret (fret - geddit?) ;)

  • imagine a radiohead happy

  • Cool!!

  • I am a bullyed kid, that has suffered a lot from his dad, everyday that i come home from school he makes me take off my pants, then he starts rubbing mi anus, i think that i don't need to say what comes after that, but all that i can say is that i am alright happy song alright happy song alright happy song alright happy song

  • @droully

    o.o

  • @Yokonono99 I agree....... o.o

  • lmao

  • yo listen to climbing up a bloody great hill (radiohead (on a friday)). they were so experimental before Radiohead actually happened its awesome.

  • @bulba1395 this just reminded me because of the song title. have you heard climbing up the walls (Brazilia remix) ? its so good you've gotta give it a listen if you havent heard it...its on youtube somewhere.

  • Where can you download this?

  • I use this to prove people who think radiohead is whiney wrong

  • after this l listen to Backdrifts.

  • @MortonGoldthwait Lol, better yet: myxomatosis, talk about a bad transition

  • I liked it... am I insane?

  • @car7000 No, you're Happy!

  • Hahahah O my, I just listened to a radiohead song and wasn't tempted to kill myself... this is a first!

  • THE CURE!!!!!!!

  • lol omg

    this is too weird

    i dont like this

  • LOL

  • lol

  • now re-record it with a crappy microphone, say it's "lo-fi" and there you have indie rock.

  • very catchy. its wasting my time, but atleast im happy

  • Radiohead playing a major key... I think my brain just imploded.

  • @turimel it's totally weird to hear them playing such a peppy song... I don't mean to be a snark or anything but they play in major on quite a few tunes: "No Surprises" "High and Dry" "House of Cards" "Black Star"... after The Bends though it is mostly modal mixtures... and its true, straight up major doesn't seem to be their favorite mode.

  • Sounds like they needed to stop trying to be James or The June Brides and turn into...well, you know the rest.

  • on a frigay

  • @KutaniCrane Asshole.

  • @93steven

    hahaaa :D

  • I am SO SO SO scared.

  • mixing fine young cannibals and the cure.

  • I still get the Pablo Honey feel with this song though

  • sounds like the smiths

  • lmao the marimba

  • "This is a happy song". hahahaha.

  • it's one of those songs you wish wasn't sarcastic

  • I love how many people have completely missed the irony/sarcasm in this song. This is about as much a statement of Radiohead's "mission" as any that I have ever heard.

  • phil looks like an alien.

  • @psychoCreep94 hahahha xD

  • so cool to see how they've changed

  • wow this is a miracle legion influence!

  • lol, i don't know about this one Thom ole' boy!

  • i can totally see them jumping while they play this :D

  • lol listen to this song and then listen to 'nude'

  • They were so good even back then!

  • WOW ...THERES SOME OBVIOUS SARCASIMN IN THIS SONG

  • HA HA HA this is greatness HA HA HA!!!!!!

  • Hey THOM, THIS is what you call ENTANGLEMENT.

  • Aiyeeeeeeee Happy Soongggg!!!! Radiohead should definitely do more of this just for kicks....i remember kermit the frog...

  • GOD IT WORKS! IM HAPPY lol XD

  • this needs to be on lp8.

  • lol ooft, On A Friday is a terrible name for a band :)

This is legend ahah, sometimes when i listen to them, i forget that they know any chords of the major key lol :)

  • lol... I think they were called 'On A Friday' because, while they were at school, they used to play together on Fridays, or something gay like that...

  • when people say radiohead is depressing send them this pleaseee

  • @bubblepopelictric I love Radiohead more than anything but you have to admit they are damn depressing.

  • @bubblepopelictric

when people say radiohead is depressing they just can hear the musical exellence and authenticity of radiohead, the greatest sound of all timeespesially thom yorkes new solo album Eraser - check it out!!

  • lol wat

  • i'm grinning like the cheshire cat now, i'm happy :D

  • This song does make me happy... but this isn't the Radiohead I know.

  • well it really is

  • Kid A is totally lickin balls of the Happy song!

  • @Deoxysdog

haha unless you count subterranean homesick alien. but then again, the lyrics suggest thom being kidnapped by extraterrestrials.

  • smiths influence definitely is here, however i believe this is a major talking heads "tribute" as well. the erratic rhythm guitar, the mambas, and the drum beats all point to talking heads. even one line of lyrics refer to burning a house down

  • @leontocebus Yeah, I can hear The Smiths inj this....but with this song and their toher song called 'Sinking Ship', it actually sounds a bit like Haircut 100, very strange

  • this song makes me very happy :)

  • I wonder if Radiohead would be the same if they never changed their name. Probably, but it's really weird to think of a parallel universe where a band called On a Friday wrote "Climbing up the Walls"

  • Aii The Smiths influence is definitely there, sounds very very Marrish in terms of guitar and Thom does Morrisseys little growls in parts

  • is the influence of bands like the smiths, thom sings like Morrissey and the guitar sounds like the boy with the thorn in his side

  • It's Theyr'e First Song, And If You Compare This To Pyramid Song, It's Even A Little Frightning.

  • haha, so cute :)

  • hahaha....sebastian and all fishes in the sea...haha so pretty...vary funny...

  • is that a marimba?!!

  • Haha, "hate to link NME"

  • Lol, this is hilarious considering Radiohead sung how to disappear completely.

  • I heard the record company were unhappy with some of the song choices for pablohoney. Maybe they wanted more like this... Thanks Radiohead for turning out so different!!

  • The Best Radiohead Song Ever!

  • LOL :)

  • I love how this is totally...the OPPOSITE of the Radiohead we know...hahahah

    so...happy and catchy...perhaps? XD

  • Putain, on est loin de paranoïd android....Comme quoi, ça rassure, on débute tous un jour!!

  • Does anyone know the chords of this song???...it'll be great on guitar !! ;p

  • Haha, sunglasses to the max

  • Radiohead... BEFORE they were radiohead
