Broadband was stimulus money at work. People say it didn't create jobs? More than 100 Republican senators and congressmen took money they voted against, created thousands of jobs and then said the stimulus didn't create any. But it didn't stop them from taking credit for those jobs they created by said don't exist. Anyone can use a search engine, find out who took the money and what they spent it on. It's not a secret. Anyone can do it.
@WindyPower The idea behind Chrome is to "move the web forward". Therefore anything that has anything to do with the internet helping society can be a Chrome commercial. Marketing at it's best.
@ikernel321 OK, so it basically just uses applications instead of programs then. does that mean it has to be connected to internet for anything to work?
@eatbachelorchow The whole point of the Chromebook is to bring you closer to the web. No more long startup times, and having to waste time meddling about with computer settings just to browse the web better. You simply turn it on, and start browsing in 7 seconds.
This video is not really about Chrome but about Google services like search, maps, google plus. All of these services can be used by any other browser, not necessarily Chrome. I agree that Google services are very very useful but dressing the video up as Chrome being the savior sounds like a deceiving attempt.
"King Arthur Flour has been online since at least December 2006, I’m willing to bet it got its start through the Internet Explorer browser. It sure wasn’t Chrome, which didn’t exist at the time."
@maptlbh So what? Chrome is just a browser. There are LOTS of them. You don't need Chrome to go to that site. Chrome doesn't help that company AT ALL. Google's web services do.
@aardmaat It's a marketing scheme. This video is being spammed by bloggers that are paid by Google. They get money, and google gets money for all the views on this video.
@WindyPower But to answer your question, euh, Chrome really didn't do anything else. Infact, Firefox is better if people would stop advertising Chrome all day..
@WindyPower Kind of a silly comment. That's like watching a car ad and saying "well what did that car do that some other car couldn't have done?" It's not that it did anything spectacular, just better.
@TheMerchantDS WindyPower's comment would have made sense if you'd come to this page after reading Chrome "Reviews". Search (using your favorite search engine) for "This post is sponsored by Google" and see for yourself.
@WindyPower This series of ads just promotes the web. Google just wants to push web forward using Chrome... Hence, the tagline... "The web is what you make of it!"
@WindyPower Google wants to encourage wider adaption of the web platform, whether Chrome or any other modern web browser is used does not matter. They can earn money from advertising anyways and the better the web is, the more they earn. I don't see anything that contradicts with their aim of making profit.
I see this ad all the time, being in Vermont. I wonder, if Google is only showing it in the Northeast as a strategy to promote Chrome by showing how a local business is using their product or if this is the ad that's being run nationally, and other small business success stories will be shown in the future.
I saw this video while watching something on CNN and not only didn't I mind (It usually annoys me when I have to sit through ads on the internet...), I actually tracked it down here to watch it again. Very good commercial. It does a great job showing the difference the internet can make for small business. Especially in Vermont, which at times can feel like a rather remote place. (Been living here for 15 years.)
@jeffreyparke Well no, not exactly...They have only (yea only) 220 years. So have been open for/during 4 different centuries. The 1700's the 1800's the 1900' and now the 2000's.
They didn't mention that King Arthur is an employee owned company. Didn't mention that they only use wheat grown by American FARMERS not Giant Conglomerates.
@meesterhoward actually King Arthur goes to schools all over and they teach people to make bread. But yes, it is the goal of a company to make money. Way to go king Arthur. Way to go google
@broetchenmampfer the point is to compare how the web has helped the business to grow faster in the past 10 years of the existence of the web in comparison to the past 200 years that the business exist. It was able to move from a small local store to a large company because of the web.
The DMCA (Google it, I'm not explaining the acronym) makes any original content Intellectually copyrighted. Which means that if there is any no user created content in a video, it is illegal.
With SOPA added in, it makes EVERTHING(I MEAN EVERTHING) online copyrighted, and therefore illegal.
The only content that would be allowed to say online, is COMPLETELY original content.
If there is a song or a picture, that wasn't made by you, your video is illegal.
