@peteacher52 it can obviously chew through the armor? watch it vs the spiny leaf insect which has armor twice as hard as the hornet. and in the wild a mantis would just grab it and eat it alive. obviously when the mantis is much faster and the hornet only weapon against the mantis is its sting since it would be gripped the chances of stinging through the armor around its forebody are slim, it's an easy bet. and the mantids mouth is stronger. i mean cmon? it makes a living with it...
