What are you on about? This was written about not by Ó Raifteiri - Seán Ó Ceallaigh wrote the poem "Mise Raifteirí an File" in America toward the end of the 19th century in tribute to the poet.
@paddyd65 Taking nothing from the singer but I feel it takes a bit of arrogance to put words in Raftery's mouth. The essence of Raftery's poem is how much he says in so few words. His complaint is that an Irish poet (who in the past would walk with Kings) should be reduced to busking for a living.- Look at me now with my back to the wall playing music for empty pockets. If you are going to muck about with his sentiment call it something else
