sounds so much like helmets - speechless. Great song at that time. Could really hear more influences in their music looking back now. Alice in chains, lots of paige soundgarden, pearl jam etc.
The band that got me behind the drums when I was 15 back in 1995! Man this songs reminds of drumming in my garage back in the day in the summer heat. I thought bens snare was the best sounding snare ever!
I'm so glad I've been following their carrer since the moment they reached Brazil. Frogstomp so much better than so many "mainstream" bands... Not an average band. So much superior than that. Voice, band, music. Thank you so much boys!!!!!!!!
I think more people need to realize that a lot of the bands they think are "selling out" are just making music for music's sake and not to please the masses. It's a form of art. It's not always going to be the same, as the artists are not always having the same experiences. How boring would it be if it DIDN'T change? You should be glad that Daniel Johns...Brandon Boyd...Chris Cornell....whatever...have more positive outlooks than they did back then.
@incubusgurlie421 YOU are RETARDED. They are making music for the masses...take it from "incubusgurlie" to know a thing or two about selling out...and if you're going to comment about "AC/DC" they've at least stuck to the same audience...and it's not about evolving. That's not what mainstream is all about. Mainstream is stagnant. The underground is where music evolves and comes out of the woodwork. YOU DUMBASS.
I'm not talking about evolving into a completely different genre. I believe you've misunderstood me. I'm talking about not putting out the same redundant, depressing music over and over. I'm talking about the artists evolving as people. Evolving mentally. I'm talking about how it's unfortunate that just because certain bands start putting out more uplifting music, they're deemed "sell-outs". If anything, these bands and their audiences grow up together.
And people also deem it as "just trying to please the masses" because it's more radio-friendly than (insert band here)'s older music. What's wrong with bands growing up? It doesn't ALWAYS mean they're selling out.
And one could argue pointedly that the bands that remain "stagnant", as you said, are the ones who are selling out because they're staying safe and not being particularly experimentative so as to not lose their fanbase. You could really go either way here.
frogstomp ws awesome..so was neon ballroom..after that i wasnt keen on there sound.. they went from shit hot grunge to savage garden :( fav songs emotion sickness, suicidal dream and israel son, anas song
Old or new, it doesn't matter. I do see loyal fans on here that like whatever they put out. They didn't sell out. As a matter of fact, Daniel always writes what he's feeling at the time. That's why every album seems bipolar and diverse from the last. Plus, they are adults over the age of 30. I can't blame them for changing. Notice other bands that grew up softened up. A good example, Staind. He got married and had a kid, he grew up, so listen to his music now. He's a happy man. Music is music.
god i love this song. very emotional drums. heavy as shit, one of gillies finest moments. that dude used to pound tubs into dust. please correct your lyrics too man, there wrong.
i hope silverchair come back to their senses... was there in 97. i miss those days badly.
i've followed silverchair for many years and i can agree with almost every comment.... i think they went wrong wen dan wrote anna's song, these guys really need to get back to basics !!! mean 2 1/2 albums !!!!! fuck any1 that wants to challenge this comment cuz i'll just laugh, !!!!
Do you even know what anas song is about??? Almost every artist/band has written a song about personal experiences. Maybe anas song was Daniels way of releasing some deep emotions. I really don't care if you laugh. I am not challenging your comment. I just hate it when ppl put down bands or songs that I care about when they don't get the facts straight first!!! Or when they don't even try to get into the band/song writers shoes first!!!
well music is dead.. and everything changes to die.. silverchair died just like music... jayz linken park? audioslave?inxs new queen, soulja boy. like fuck music im out
doesn't matter, lyrics don't need to make sense as long as they're written well.
Yeah they sound fucking shit now. This album is unbelievable! Why the hell didn't they make more like this. Daniel John's said that he disowned this album and that he didn't like it at all. That's fucked up.
do you guys even know what it means to be a fan of a band? would you rather all of their albums sound the same? I for one love how much they've changed over the years. I've been a fan since frogstomp first came out and I'm just as much of a fan now as I've ever been if not more.
Silverchair from FROGSTOMP to NEON BALLROOM were perfection. DIORAMA (while not my favorite) was a great experimental record. However I cannot even stomach the audible vomit that they do now with YOUNG MODERN. I woulda rather they broke up after DIORAMA rather than take a crap on their name the way they did. Any other band in the world woulda committed carreer suicide if they dared to change as much as Silverchair did. They should be very thankful they have the most fickle fans on the planet.
hmmm , young modern gets alot of slack (mostly due to that pile of garbage 'straight lines') but ther are some good songs on ther like young modern station
yea, if you checked around, there are some that say the words you put and some that say the real words. Every year I was part of the Llama Apprecation Society (Silverchairs fan club), and we got tons of free stuff all the time... some included booklets with the words to their songs.
Well i suppose if you know the words already you dont really need to check in the description... I think the music is what matters most, everyone takes a song differently, so what does it matter if the lyrics are off.

the poor kid was made to suffer beyond the limits of sanity or spiritual repair and that was before fame and money which only made things worse life sux.... atleast we have frogstomp and freakshow but mainly frogstomp
neon ballroom is a great album, just in a different way to frogstomp and freak show, bands evolve, lucky for silerchair they evolved into something that was amazing
Silverchair did NOT evolve, they sold out in an attempt to accomodate the masses. And it worked, unfortunately for them they've lost almost every die hard fan of their first two albums.
@SorrowAwaits Yeah I agree I am so disappointed in SC I wanted to look up to 15 year olds for the rest of my life. LOLOLOL calm down they werre little kids then I think you need to pick up a guitar and write your own legendary tunes instead of hating on a couple 14 year olds for growing up. They were kids THEN FIFTEEN YEARS AGO!!!!
@SorrowAwaits they didnt sell out they changed there style thats what bands do,for many reasons especially so they can stay in the music industry and earn money to buy food, pay bills, pay for clothes etc. the same reason why everyone else works,so they didnt sell out the thought about what they need to do to have a sustainable life style and also selling out is when you let the record company you are signed under decided what you write about, what your music/songs sounds like, they didnt sell out
honestky i think THIS is their bets ong...from an avid silverchair fan from new zealand!
