Our boxer was getting out of the 6ft privacy fenced back yard too, on occasion. My husband (not so familiar with boxers) assured me that he was NOT jumping the fence. Til one day, he looked out the patio door and SAW first hand, one Giant leap and a push from back paws and over and out! Sheesh! I didn't use electrical fence (not legal in town here), but did put him in the kennel inside for "time out" for a few hours. He decided he likes the outdoors better and has stopped trying to get out.
I should mention that it took a few times of doing this for him to figure out what the punishment would be for getting out of the yard. They are SUPER stubborn, but fortunately they are SUPER smart too!

Our boxer was getting out of the 6ft privacy fenced back yard too, on occasion. My husband (not so familiar with boxers) assured me that he was NOT jumping the fence. Til one day, he looked out the patio door and SAW first hand, one Giant leap and a push from back paws and over and out! Sheesh! I didn't use electrical fence (not legal in town here), but did put him in the kennel inside for "time out" for a few hours. He decided he likes the outdoors better and has stopped trying to get out.

To the people who say he needs another pet. what do suggest? Killing the dog? taking to a animal shelter? Nobody would wants a dog with that temper. And a dog that big on the street can cause accidents that can get you living on the street or in jail. So people use your brain before attacking someone.
and BTW I also think is too small area for that dog.
U can use a "L" shape (upside down) fence extension on top your fence. It works for my dogs. Now they dig the back yard to get out. : /

@elwoodjoey88 I have an apartment and the same size and breed of dog. Boxers, while med-large sized breed do not need the space other large dogs need. The space needs of a dog are not just dependent on it's size, the breed matters as well. Obviously daily exercise and runs/walks are needed, but please do your research before posting and showing the world your ignorance.

Tips for the fence:
-Stronger energizer. Check out your local farm supply store.
-Add more wires, ideally for something like that, around 6 to 8 total. Space them closer together, about 4" apart.
- Since you have concrete, run every OTHER wire as a ground.
- Upgrade to a thicker wire with higher tensile strength, use crimp-on sleeves to splice your wire, and make sure your posts and insulators are EXTREMELY strong and secure!

I'm just saying I'm not completely against it either. I wouldn't do it to my dog, but she is a very stubborn dog and it's extremely difficult to get her to listen. Still I wouldn't do this. But if someone doesn't have enough time to train their pet, you're right. They shouldn't have one.

I really, don't agree with this method, but people are commenting like it's the worst possible way. Trust me, I've trained and trained my dog, and she still doesn't listen. But with electric fences, you don't put the voltage up all the way. like fuck, of course that'll hurt. Keep the voltage down, and it's just like a slight pinch.
Plus, the dog will do it once or twice then stop. Not saying this is something I'd do, I'd do something like make the fence taller. XD or watch your dog. XD
