"HasbHasb HasbAAHSBHZ BrrrrrrrU RAWR" Alexander Stubb at "Europe IS A SUPERPOWER" why does people admire him so much? hes a damn federalist.. hes impressing people with hes grammar and multi language skills, bit in finland (where i live) we can see the everyday stubb that wants socialize the whole damn world.
@SlipAllCityToy Maybe people admire him because he is federalist. If you cannot see the benefits of European Federation, it's your problem and then you are not asked about it. Also, in another interview Stubb stated that he "believes in the freedom of movement (peoples', jobs' and money's)", so he doesn't want to socialize the whole world. So if you don't have your facts right, you might just as well shut up.
(Alexander Stubb-finnish citizen with swedish speaking father and finnish speaking mother. Five percent of Finland´s population belongs to the swedish-speaking minority, who has lived in Finland since the viking-age.)
Actually there are swedish speaking finnish people whose ancestors adopted the language because the swedish influence. For example the national composer Jean Sibelius belongs to that group. So you can't say that they have lived here since the viking-age because many of them are the same as finnish speaking finns only different mother tongue.
@alarik36 Swedish crusades in Finland occurred in the 12th century, well after the so-called "viking age" (in the 8th century). Of course, there was probably some Swedish merchants in Finland before that but also many contemporary Finnish-Swedish families emigrated to Finland only in the 17th or 18th century. Also, some totally foreign aristocratic families learned Swedish because it was a language of administration and nobility back then.
If the americans had offered help, it had also been favourable to them in the both long and short run. In the short run it would have been good for them to get into Tschinvali to check, and be able to give a firsthand information about the number of deaths and wonded, thus neutralizing most of the talk about 1600 dead(other sources say 50-60 people and over hundred wounded. The help would also have neutralized significantly the talk that US coached the georgian army to do this.
Alexander Stubb is really cool. He did exactly the thing I was thinking that someone should do. He was compassionate, offered help to South Ossetians from EU, THEN started to talk about details in the peaceaggreement and withdrawal to status quo. It is much better to negotiate from a position as friend than using the american powerlanguage.

Actually, the Union should be able to work the peacekeeping mission between the conflicting parties, Georgia, Russia and South Ossetia. The first requirement of ANY peacekeeping mission is consent of the parties of the conflict. Maybe Saakashvili has now come to his senses...
Sorry. Most people think Russia can't be trusted and is a threat. No need to argue with me. Just wait and see countries in the EU and NATO increase their military budgets. I wounder why...? They might not say or show it... but all the countries will prepare for war with Russia. Trust me... behind closed doors they are seriously talking about it.
I think you simply need to punch the school yard bully square in the nose. Russia is now preparing to do the samething to the Ukraine. They are testing everyone because they want to restore the Russian Empire and stop NATO.
Yep, and then it will be Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania - maybe even Finland? Naja, if they want to restore the Russian Empire, Finland is SURELY on their list...
POPPYCOCK! There is no need for the US/NATO Atlanticism in Europe any more. Russia did not start this, but was rightfully responding to an attack on South Ossetia. It is not Russia that is a danger to Europe- but the continuation of the old and outdated US/NATO Atlanticist system.
Europe is capable of fully engaging Russia in a peaceful and positive relationship - without the US. Get Uncle Sam out of Europe now and Europe needs to start thinking on its own!
Russia needs to prove it then instead of threatening the West and flexing muscles. You even research what Russia has been saying? Really? They want their power restored by using military force and oil. If the Russians truly wanted peace they would have waiting until Bush left and we had a new president to negotiate with. Russia has proved the need for NATO by their use of excessive force these past few days. More NATO expensive will continue and now Russia is hated more then the US.

The Finnish police has not been informed why Finland must defend the Swedish kartell nazi ambassad in Helsingfors.

@Dolflu
What a seriousity is it on that comment. The swedes have never voted for nazism. In 1938 1,2% voted for it, and that was the all time high.
