For the people saying "vote in who you want". The occupy movement is a vote of no confidence in the current system. Our elected representatives have a very slim window to enact campaign finance reform and remove corporate money from politics, should they fail, you haven't seen anything yet...
We are Sovereign, remember that only those who have taken a valid oath of office to support and defend the constitution of the United States and the State Constitution of 1849 have any authority to question you. And even then, only when you have been charged, by another Sovereign citizen of infringing on their rights or property. I vote that our public servants start calling us "master", and we call them "servant". Maybe this'll put things in perspective.
@jabberwolf the due process calls for American citizens to call on their representatives using their first amendment rights, and demand redress for grievances, and/or a constitutional convention. And if our representatives fail to comply with the People, they are removed from office and replaced with a true voice of the people.
@Chadithian So, part I - follow the direction of the Constitution and established law to attempt changing the government. Ok, with you so far...
Part II - ?. OWS currently consists of well short of even a small minority of "the people", there is no basis to say this small percentage can achieve the simple majority needed for, really, anything. But even assuming they COULD, this still relies on the assumption that a majority vote would be ignored, which has no historical precedent in the US
@Chadithian Very good! That makes this the perfect time for this to happen.Occupy should promote voter registration so that when the time comes in 2012 they can occupy the voting booths. The pretense in elections is that the great conflict is between the two major parties. "The reality is that there is a much bigger conflict that the two parties jointly wage against large numbers of Americans who are represented by neither party and against powerless millions around the world."
Props Billy! very inspirational
