I disagree. Pritchard is the one who chose Brandon Roy, along with Lamarcus Aldridge. He decided to take Oden over Durant, which I still think is a wise decision and he copped Rudy and Nicolas Batum (who I believe is very talented). This summer trades will go down and Blazers have a huge salary cap along with the release of free agents Frye, LaFrentz, Randolph, Ruffin. I have faith in KP finding the right pieces of the puzzle for the upcoming years.

Being more valuabe to one's team and being top five is two different things. Roy is more valuable to his team bc those other players teams have more depth and can deal with a loss of a key player. Roy was hardly even doubled by the Rockets. He still needs another season or two while some of those other players decline and he progresses.

look, i've watched quite a few blazer games. and i know you have the weight of authority behind you. everyone from mike rice on kgw to the corporate hacks at ESPN *say* the blazers will be a team to beat, with roy at the helm. but i'm not buying it. mark my words, and laugh at me in 5 years if i'm wrong... BUT, i say roy will never lead this team to the finals. if they get there, they will be led by another star.

Hes already led his team from having one of the worst records in the league, to an even 41 and 41 last year, and now 54 and 28 tied for second in the west and co champs with denver for the division. In three years, hes won rookie of the year, western conference player of the month four times ( same number as clyde) and is a two time allstar. He averaged 26.7 pts per game in the playoffs. The only reason they lost is cuz in game 1, Blazers didnt know how to d up a priming 7 Sixer.

Look, I hope you're right. But I don't think you are. It's hype like this, created before a player leads his team particularly far, that stymies development. The problem I see in this postseason is that Brandon will stew in all the high praise and he'll decide that the other guys are keeping him back. Kind of like Kobe before last season. But the thing is - Kevin Pritchard won't magically bring in Pau Gasol & Derek Fisher to help Brandon along. I predict a major prima dona problem soon.

I disagree. Pritchard is the one who chose Brandon Roy, along with Lamarcus Aldridge. He decided to take Oden over Durant, which I still think is a wise decision and he copped Rudy and Nicolas Batum (who I believe is very talented). This summer trades will go down and Blazers have a huge salary cap along with the release of free agents Frye, LaFrentz, Randolph, Ruffin. I have faith in KP finding the right pieces of the puzzle for the upcoming years.

Brandon is also a very humble player unlike Kobe in his early days. He stated after losing Game 6 that he no longer felt the need for any more personal accomplishment and instead wants to focus on his team winning a championship.

You see, but that's part of it. Remember when I called Brandon bipolar? What I meant is that he's cocky before the game, often silent during the game, and then suddenly humble after the game. Why was he so humble after game 6? Did he think 22 points on 8/17 shooting was the best performance possible? I think a true "superstar" leader would have played better. Don't get me wrong, Kobe has his faults. But at least Kobe's consistently cocky. I don't like how Brandon goes back & forth.

He was humble cuz his team lost and didn't he score 42 one of those games? Against two of the top five defenders in the league, trading off and double teaming? I have never noticed his cockiness until he ripped his shirt after the houston buzzer beater. Even when he dropped 52 on Phoenix he didn't make a big deal about it and gave a lot of credit to his team. Kobe has had a lot longer to work on his image of superstar when Brandon is just learning how to become one.

Yeah he won two games, nearly two in Houston. That team just beat the Lakers. If the Blazers are this good right now, they will beat the Rockets next year. If the Rockets are owning the Lakers now, Blazers will have no problem with them either.

The Rockets owned the Lakers in game 1. But do you seriously think they will beat L.A. in this series? The difference between the constant youth-train of KP and the results-now mindset of Dr. Buss is that the Lakers end up winning championships & the Blazers are stuck at 1.

obviously the lakers don't win every year. but they win more often than the blazers, right? some of that difference can be explained by the different media & fan atmosphere. in LA, they like their players too. but they don't coddle them. when they mess up, the LA Times lets the players know!

Being more valuabe to one's team and being top five is two different things. Roy is more valuable to his team bc those other players teams have more depth and can deal with a loss of a key player. And did you not see two guys guarding Yao before he even had to ball against the Blazers? He created way more opportunities for his team than Roy did for his. Roy was hardly even doubled by the Rockets. He still needs another season or two while some of those other players decline and he progresses.

Roy is young and talented, maybe not Kobe talented, but certainly has a hell of a career ahead of him.
Aldrich and Roy will become continue to grow into a franchise duo like Malone and Stockton, Pippen and Jordan, Drexler and Porter, etc....
