@narutochick365 pipe smoke is not inhaled: there is no need to inhale as the experience of pipe smoking is about the taste. You taste with your tongue and not lungs

@PipeFriendCHS Actually, the nicotine is still present, it just doesn't enter the body by lungs, so it's not (just) about the taste. The main difference is you can get cancer on your tongue instead of the usual tongue - throat - lungs combination. However, pipe smoking is still a far greater choice and cancer - risk is noticeably reduced. And pipes look waaaay cooler.

@5kaplan If you're using a lighter to smoke, butane burns at a higher temperature so you might be causing your tobacco to burn at a higher temperature than normal. I was told always to use wooden matches unless you can get a specialised lighter.

I'm curious. What prevents any cinders from going into your mouth? I made a homemade pipe by simple making a hole through a stick, and then another hole ontop of the stick to connect to the hole, and there's where the tobbacco goes.

Hi there, I recently just bought my first pipe and had my first smoke with it today using Alsbo Vanilla.... I've heard pipe smokers say the smoke should taste really nice and have a full flavour... but I didn't get this. It tasted bitter and sooty, with no nice flavour. Usually it is because of bad tobacco that was either too dry or too wet. The pipe shape also matters: Bent pipes tend to do this more than straight pipes. Smoking too fast can cause this too. Some pipes have an airhole that faces up towards the roof of your mouth and this helps too.
