In Australia health care is covered by the government and health insurance is optional, if you earn over $50,000AUSD you can pay an extra surcharge of around $700AUSD of pay for insurance which can cost around the same or in most cases it is a lot less, which is forcing people who can afford the insurance to have it to free up the health system for the people who are not well off or cannot afford it.

If you can pay for health care you always get it. The only "free" treatment medical facilities provide (and which is required by law in some states) is that which removes you from immediate life-threatening danger. Anyone with chronic disease at that point however is just about dead anyway. Scattered throughout the US there are also charity clinics, but their availability is uneven. Bottom line still is you are screwed if you don't have coverage, are underinsured, or are denied coverage.

According to an article on wikipedia about "Healthcare", Afghanistan and Iraq have universal healthcare that is funded by the U.S. Very ironic. I've not only been denied coverage, but also have been told I'm uninsurable. I have skin cancer and want and need treatment.
I can't find a charity hospital that will help me as my assets as worth more than $1000.00.
My cancer is not an emergency, even though I've been told if it's not treated soon it will be fatal. Lots of undocumented workers receiving treatment. I'm trying really hard to sell everything I own, but it might be too late.

In Australia health care is covered by the government and health insurance is optional, if you earn over $50,000AUSD you can pay an extra surcharge of around $700AUSD of pay for insurance which can cost around the same or in most cases it is a lot less, which is forcing people who can afford the insurance to have it to free up the health system for the people who are not well off or cannot afford it.

If you can pay for health care you always get it. The only "free" treatment medical facilities provide (and which is required by law in some states) is that which removes you from immediate life-threatening danger. Anyone with chronic disease at that point however is just about dead anyway. Scattered throughout the US there are also charity clinics, but their availability is uneven. Bottom line still is you are screwed if you don't have coverage, are underinsured, or are denied coverage.

Everyone in the movie who has a health care nightmare contacted M. Moore. Those 9/11 workers couldn't get much needed health care after they dug body parts from the toxic pile downtown. They wanted to be helped and they went with him because no one else would help them. And BTW, I doubt he cares if people pay to see this movie or not. There are excellent copies all over the internet.

Our health insurance bill? $800/month. They cover what they want, when they want. Beside the monthly bill, we have 20% "copays" on stuff like my new wheelchair. My doctors have to justify medical decisions to insurance company bureaucrats w/NO medical training.
With Bush's arrogant vetoes of stem cell research funding, we've got a screwed up system in the US.
BTW, there are only 2 industries exempt from anti-trust laws in the US. Major league baseball is one -- & insurance is the other.

what you people mainly aren't grasping is the fact that moore doesn't think the country of cuba has better healthcare. He took 9/11 relief workers to Guantamo Bay because terrorists and other prisoners there are receiving health care on our tax dollars and the relief workers aren't getting any help when most of their health issues result from the cleanup of the twin towers.
