@oilerman9406 We are by far not pro's yet. Compared to today's machines the 790D is an old out dated design. The great thing about the 790.. parts are bountiful, they are simply put together and its pretty much at the peak or the era when equipment was built to last. My old man still owns and runs a 790...no D! It's a good solid hoe, it's not pretty but its reliable, powerful and when it does break down a monkey could figure out how to fix it.
@vantagetes Well im a slightly better mechanic than certain monkeys so thats great!! And compared to todays machines....the price is right for me lol.
You dont need a thumb for that work, but you would have to split apart the quick change to slide the main bucket pin out to remove the thumb. Then you would have a much-too-long pin slopping back and forth unless they had the original bucket pin on hand.
Those Albertan style hydraulic thumbs sure look strange. I think it was a Beales design only in Alberta.
Looks good, lots of money in equipment moving all about here.
@jamiebest Hi jamiebest, The shaking, is all about equal and opposite. Throw a ball against a wall and it will come back with equal and opposite energy. In this case the 'ball' is the digger bucket which has different characteristics when full as opposed to when it is empty. Some ground is frozen so the energy put into an expected move to fill a bucket, delays for a second but that energy has still gone to the arm, so it will appear to jump as the Potential Energy hits in a shorter time .
How many yards is that bucket on that 350. I have a 2.7 bucket on my 330d and usually even with heaped loam filled buckets it takes about 6 buckets to fill the 40 ton trucks.
I like that you can drop that bucket back to earth fast and not crash the shit of the machine... ive had to "try" and train people on my 180 tonne and they throw me around just booming down. Thanks for another great video
@SYCKNTWISTED It's a type of cleanup edge. It's serrated for being able to scratch through harder material but still allows you to get a fairly smooth cut.
@vantagetes idk how it is with the new stuff, but the Hitachi I ran if it was painted yellow would of been identical to a similar JD counterpart... same engine, interior identical, SAME KEY
@TurboGSR96 With the smaller hoes JD retains the yellow engines instead of the Isuzu. The 450 and up are basically all Hitachi. If memory serves me correctly the Deere 350 has a 9.0L I-6 while the Hitachi 350 has a 7.8L Isuzu I-6.
@TurboGSR96 Yes there are a few that are the same, but the smaller hoes do have differences. The 350's for example between the yellow and orange are a Deere 9.0L PSX engine vs the Isuzu 7.8L engine.
@erifdlog I wish they just took the fucking thumb off while they were at it, just adds weight (makes it tippy and slower) and pushes the dirt outta my heaping buckets when I stick out!
@bert26a You mean I send you private video from work. Thats ok, Bert, I respect that. I feel a simple note to me telling me that would suffice. Instead, I felt it was a bit ignorant to just block me, and doubly so outright swearing like you just have to me above.
We are both professional guys that go to work everyday and do our thing out there and want to come home at night. Taking video of our days work is interesting to people, and our messages made me think that.
@VHMillsy The first truck or so he was playing around with his bench, after that he was just straight loading. You'll notice on the last truck where I found a buried pocket of loam and had to go back for another scoop (lost some time) we were about even on load time.
@VHMillsy Just goes to show what we've been preaching for years. It's all about the little things you can do to save cycle time. Watch your swing distance, stop your trucks back, load front to back, don't dig inside 90* and FILL THAT BUCKET (unless you're sinking). Don't get me wrong I worked that 350 for everything it had to be able to out load that 850 but it goes to show, it's the little things that make a good operator.
@vantagetes few years ago I was running a JD 600LC, and we had one of our best guys on the Komatsu 800 when it was brand new. I was going as fast as I could, but even with a little faster swing speed, couldn't make up the fact I had to do 4 buckets, and he only needed 3.
Actually. The better story is when I first started running hoe, JD 330, pulling side hoe for a JD 750 triple trenching. I was absolutely buried and had no idea what I was doing.
@VHMillsy That's a good example for people who think 385/850s are slow. Sure they may cycle a bit slower but if you use them efficiently they move a pile of dirt in a hurry.
i think you just need to go a little easier when you're opening the bucket. all that shaking was getting to me, and im not even running it lol

what is it that makes you shake so hard in the seat of that hoe compared to the 385?

It's funny, these videos always seem to be like Cod videos.
Everyone is such an expert behind a computer, but in real life they know shit all.
Why bother coming the videos if you just want to be an asshat and try and correct him on every little thing.

I got fired for loading front to back and all you can say is OOPS??? :)

@25mfd If you got fired, it was for more than just loading front to back, it was for more than that simple reason.

So you weren't loading the excavator like the description says, you were loading the dump trucks WITH the excavator.
