i have found out the cure to wtb laser disc difficult to seat tyre problem. If you wet lube the rim/tyre you'll find it seats much better. I must say at first i had problem seating wtb laser disc trail rear wheel tyre. without wetting or lubing the tyre i had to pump them upto very high pressure to seat. THe could pose tricky for outy on the trail tyre changes

the brass is a overall really good bike for bigginers but the shocks are horrable and weak i own the exact same bike and i snapped the shocks and i put on Spinner ammo dirt jumps and i enjoy it alot :P lol

I'm looking to buy this bike. All of the things you said bad about them are simple things that you would upgrade over time. The pedals would be the first thing to up grade, I'd use my current Wellgo pedals or kenda jackshit. And about the front shocks you need to adjust the shocks. Never use the stock settings. And how you say the gears are loud. You need to use oil or some kind of lube and tune them.

Hey chain guards rub on all dirt jumpers in high or low gears, i just keep my devinci district 2 in 4th gear and only shift when i need to.

sometimes it can un-seize the forks by spraying WD-40 on the seals and stanctions then push down on them hard it can release them and they may work again :)

and iv also gone through 4 pairs of launch t8 forks lol they either pop the seals or seize up lol

It's funny that you've said that because mine seized up yesterday lol. I knew it was going to happen, i'm gonna upgrade it with some Marzocchi Dirt Jumper 1 or 2's.

I'll re upload the modded version of this bike at some point lol.

yea they realy are bad forks, they honestly should stop making them iff they seize up so easily. but the ones i have at the minute have blown the left seal, iv got some marzocchi dirtjam - comps in the garage im just waiting for the seals to come back then they are ready to be built back up :)

there avid levers iv got them. but your brass is alot nicer looking than my mates, hes got a brass 2 and it looks horrible its like a dark grey with orange. but nice bike mate iv got a mongoose fireball pro :P

the pedals are metal and the brakes are NOT noisy at all. this bike is super smooth. the only problems i had with it were the obvious first year niggles which get sorted like break rub and things coming loose but you can fix those things. you are right about the forks though but they do stay super strong after months of ragging my local dh!

i heard the rebound adjust barely does anything, if trail ride with it the wheels are sure to give out...there park wheels. also, that RST fork would bottom if i went off a jump with it :P

i might get the giant brass 1, but are the wheels good enough for off road trail riding? they look like park wheels

The wheels have been good so far, I've been riding down some 8ft jumps and tested it down some steps and they were still great. It also has 36 spokes which is more than normal mtbs.

The only concern if you want to ride some serious off trail riding are the forks, but it should handle alright with some normal abuse and it's rebound adjustable aswell so it's all good.

Go to the Giant website and look at the full spec of both the bikes, Brass 1 has better disc brakes, forks, gears. You can see the difference between the gears clearly when you look at the zoom function on their website.

No one really cares about what colour your downhill/dirt bike is cuz it'll get dirty anyways. I like mine looking dirty because it actually looks like it's being used properly rather than flashing it around.

I have those rst shocks on my  schwinn s40 mountain bike and they are really stiff which I think is perfect for dirt and street jumping. What do you have against them?

Oh and I know my bike is cheap but I upgraded it and now it works awesome.

Yeah I want it stiff but I think mines faulty lol, its not getting stiff I adjusted it to the max and played around with it and yet it still feels like a spaghetti hehe.

Ya I can't adjust mine to make them soft but they're great for jumping. My brother has marzocchi single-air bomber shocks and they are so soft I don't know how he rides with them.

Yeah, I was thinking of getting the STP 1 instead but I was short of cash lol and the STP 1 costs more than my old Specialized P2 Cr-Mo, but yeah I might just have to change the forks to Marzocchi.

Na I like my p2 better but it got stolen :(, I would definitely recommend as an entry level bike or you can get the Brass 2 which is cheaper with some slight downgrades.

I like everything about it, it's only the forks which is bugging me lol. Btw I didn't know theres such thing as dry shifting lol, i'll bear that in mind next time lol.
