I was invited to the beta of the newest version of StencylWorks, and it looks NOTHING like that. However, I can't get more specific due to a Non Disclosure Agreement.
To all who are talking about Stencyl coming out, not coming out, can or cannot make Mario games etc.

And then what? Will we get more testers saying the same shit they've stated over and over again? This has been in the works since 2006. You'd think they would at least be close to releasing some sort of preview of this program in action. The question is when is it going to get released; we don't care about testing programs because it means nothing to the people not in it.

Beta testers are using Stencyl and making progress on their games. People I know. These people would say if the Stencyl team said "lol tell everyone you have stencyl and that it's real"
But how do I know that those beta testers aren't just people hired by the team to act? How do I know that you aren't part of the team trying to cover it up? I'm at the point where I'll believe it when I see it. The team ruined their liability in 07 and 08, and there's only one way to earn it back, which is releasing the beta. Until then, anything they show is just as legit to me as the crap I saw in 07 and 08. And at this point I'm sticking with my theory that it is non-existent.
Right. They're paying dozens of people enough to keep them quiet. I'd keep quiet and lie about having Stencyl for a minimum of 100 dollars a month. They have around 40 people with access to the program. That's $4,000 a month and 48K a year. They also said they're going to invite more handfuls every few weeks. That's a lot of money to pay for a non-profit joke, and it could easily go wrong if just one person didn't want to lie. Think about it.
On top of that, a thread was made by a member asking the community if they would donate to Stencyl if they even allowed donations. Just about everyone said they would only donate if they were able to use the program. This gets rid of any possible profit factor. They couldn't cover the costs regardless.
in that time u could have learnt an actual language, saved up money 2 buy the full version of visual studio, built an areoplane, travelled around the world, seen your newborn son's first day at school, become a 10th dan in karate, found a cure 4 cancer etc....
seriously, google 'construct', It may be unfinished & unstable, but it exists, and it's free.....

Reminds me of the Amiga Construction Kit games. Not bad for a low grade game making app, something I would have used for fun before I knew MMF and coding.
the difference between lunar magic and stencyl is the stencyl isnt meant for making mario levels only like lunar magic. they're just showing someone making a mario game in this video to explain how easy it would be to make an awesome 2d game with the program.

You cannot download this program right now as it is still in development. According to the Stencyl website, we may be hearing a Beta release date(closed beta and eventually will become public) sometime in mid-september.

It looks cool. I believe that I read that you can make any sort of game, not just a Mario game. I also believe there will be Mode 7 support, so you could make a game like Final Fantasy and have the airship field like in FF6.
I think this looks very promising. I hope it gets released soon ^_^ (Because although I like RPG Maker, I wish it had more capabilities).
