Nikolai Velimirovic is Serbian Orthodox saint born in Serbia in 1881. He fought all his life for the spirituality of the Serbian Orthodox People and its Orthodox Church. He was bishop of Ohrid in today's Macedonia and later he was bishop of Zica, in today's Serbia. He was kept in Dalhau prison by NAZIs, and after WW2, he was expelled from Serbia (Yugoslavia) by new atheist regime, he fled to USA, where he died in 1956. He is proclamed for saint and his holy relics are in Serbia,Lelic monastery.

He was captured by the gestapo during WW2 and taken to Dahau concentration camp. There is an anecdote that I read in a book about his imprisonment there. One day a Nazi German officer came and asked him does he believe that God exists. To which Nikolaj Velimirovic replied that he didn't. So the Nazi officer agreed and said that he was forced since his childhood to accept God, but he finally stopped believing in God. Vladiaka NIkolaj said that he was also taught to believe, but as he grew older.

Ah, the pillar of Serbia!! My Church just recently celebrated his Feast Day. St. Nicholas Velimirovic is also known to be the modern day "Golden mouth" like St. John Chyrsostom. Gotta read the prologue he compiled!
